Review The Old House At Home - Blakedown

Food was lovely. We decided to eat here instead of the safari park. There was an offer on for 2 meals for £11 or £12. I did enjoy my chicken dish although I was not too keen on the peppercorn sauce. My partner had the sausage and mash and it was very tasty :) For dessert I got the lemon meringue pie which I quite liked and paired it with a good cuppa. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area, especially if you are enroute to or coming back from the safari park.

We always receive a warm welcome. Staff are lovely and service is excellent. Food is good quality pub grub with generous portions. We both had steak, mushroom and onion chiabata with chips. The chiabata was overflowing with very tender and delicious steak! Would highly recommend!

This is lovely pub. Good food and always a friendly welcome and great service. We often pop in just for a drink but have also enjoyed a few good meals there now too. Good value for money and worth a visit any time of year.

Friendly welcome on arrival, not having booked not sure if we would find a table, but although very busy staff soon found us one.Ordered Sunday Lunch which was keenly priced at 2 for £16 👏food was excellent, served promptly and was piping hot.Only a suggestion, but would like a choice of peas instead of green beans, which is my personal taste.Highley recommended.

The pub was extremely busy on our visit. We pre booked the table as there was 8 of us. The food was of a high standard & hot. Portions were generous & very reasonably priced . There are tables outside for the warmer weather. Sufficient parking. Highly recommended.

Nice old pub in Blake down, very friendly service and good value. 2 mains for £12 across sections of the menu, I had a beef roast which was excellent quality and value. Over 30 minute wait for the food was the only downer but it was a busy Sunday lunchtime. Visited Sunday 28th May, great experience with well trained staff and good food. 12th July 2023, visited again and found things about the same, good food and friendly staff.

Great food, wicked beers and friendly staff! My stout yeomen of the bar (Josh and Jack) continue to excel whilst maintaining standards of hygiene! Pub is dog friendly, if you have a huge problem with that, try somewhere else. We think it's great!

Nice staff. Good food. Not too busy on a Friday night. Highly recommend the place.

Excellent food, attentive and friendly service. Found me a table in a quiet part of the pub which helped me relax a lot and enjoy my meal even more, will definitely be back possibly with family.

Have used this pub alot over the last couple of years but had a Xmas meal last night and was extremely disappointed with the food. Not sure if we caught them on an off day but prawn cocktail had no texture and just didn't seem right so it wasn't eaten and the soup was very bland. The main course wasn't great either. Sprouts were well under cooked . The beef wasn't off a joint it's was processed and the Turkey very good either and I also had a stork from the beans on my plate. Food came very quick but after each course plates were left for a long time before anyone came over. For the amount of food we left on the plates I would have expected someone too ask if everything was okay but noone did. I've always had great service at this pub but extremely disappointed with the whole meal and service we received last night. So all in all the service was poor. Hope we just caught them on an off day

We went for a family meal, 30 of us in total, had a table booked for 7.15 for 7.30, with people still eat, did not manage to sit till 8 o'clock gone, we were split, so we had to get up and mingle which was not a problem, however when the meal was eventually ordered we did not start eating till nearly nine o'clock, the food and service was excellent once received, and would go again, but in a smaller group, staff brilliant, food good, definitely go again

Go here lots to eat and drink. Foods always lovely. Last night was fish and chips. Also used the mobile bar for a party. Top place and top people.

Popped in for lunch, completely spur of the moment. Very congenial staff, good and varied menu choices. Liver & onions fabulous, and apparently the steak and ale pie was very good too. If we were ever passing at lunchtime again we would certainly stop, very nice pub.

Great family friendly pub!! The 2 for £10 meals are delicious and great value for money! Both my kids love the food here (which is a bonus because they are fussy eaters!!) ..always a warm friendly welcome from the 2 managers and all of the staff!! Well done!!

Only had dishes from the 2 for £10 menu, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Just the right portion size for a small appetite and I ate all my chips. Not keen on chips, so this is a good sign for well cooked crispy 'uns. With a drink as well, lunch for £15. Pleasant little find, will definitely be back again.

Need more staff. The poor lad with red hair was running around ragged. He deserves a medal. The food was gorgeous and well worth the wait, the only downside was the pudding. My daughter and myself had the one to share, we were disappointed there wasn't any brownie at the bottom as it states in the menu. Apart from that, all was good. I will be back

Awful food. My daughters spag Bol was full of water had to be returned. Fish was undercooked and slimey, toast had just been shown a toaster and kids pizza isn't pizza! Never had mushy peas with a crusty top before either! Serving staff should really wait til they get out of ear shot of customers before they start huffing and puffing! Disgusting food and service
