Amazing food! The pasta and sauce was excellent, good size portions. The banana bread pudding cake was amazing, one of the best desserts in Boston.

Overall excellent. Solid Italian food. Only thing was the Pannacotta had too much gelatin and not as smooth

Decent spot for homestyle Italian cuisine. My friends and I recently took a visit on a weekday evening on a whim. There aren’t a lot of Italian places in Beacon Hill, and Grotto seemed like the best option with its high ratings. With its intimate settings, characterized by dim lighting and close-knit tables, Grotto evoked the feel of a traditional Italian hideaway, and the food was exactly what I expected – classic Italian fare, though with a slightly rustic twist. We shared two pasta – Chicken Parm and Fra Diavolo. Chicken parm had a good firm texture but still juicy and tender. However, the accompanying sauce and pasta felt lackluster. The Fra Diavolo, on the other hand, stood out with its lusciously plump shrimp. Yet, the spicy tomato sauce, though flavorful, didn't meld with the seafood's essence as hoped. We then had the Carne, which we found to be a bit tough. Overall, a decent Italian dining experience with homely ambiance. However, I’m not sure if I would come back as there are so many better Italian options in North End.

The food was good, but nothing stood out as impossible to get anywhere else. I would recommend it for a nice Italian soup. The garlic soup was tasty.

Was in Boston for 1 night and made a great choice booking the cozy Grotto for dinner. We decided to do family style so we could try as many dishes as possible and we were not disappointed. The bolognese and gnocchi were outstanding, a slight cut above the tagliatelle with shrimp. The Brussels sprouts with bacon were very good as well, because … well, bacon improves everything. Also had the mushrooms, which were fine, but I’d say try a different vegetable. The meatballs were excellent, and I’d say save some bread to lap up the delicious sauce they came in, because it’s very tasty. We ordered 2 beef wellingtons and the Brick chicken for proteins. I was more partial to the chicken over mashed potatoes, as I thought the beef was a tad dry. However my friends loved the beef, so it was a split decision 2/1 in favor of the beef. We ordered the tiramisu and a banana pudding type dessert which were both tasty and finished the meal perfectly. They have a good wine selection, im obsessed with piedmont reds & I had a bunch to choose from, so I was excited. But there’s def wine for all palates, in a great price range $50+ - $100. Service was excellent and the food came out quickly. We really enjoyed our dinner here & to be honest, I’m from NYC so im stuck up about Italian food, but I really liked Grotto and would recommend it for a dinner out, whether with family or on a date.

10/10 I regret not taking a picture of my caprese salad but the mozzarella tasted homemade! Every course seemed to somehow be better than the last. The short rib gnocchi is to DIE for. So flavorful! The service here was also very good. Highly recommend!

Quaint and delicious little Italian place. The name Grotto is very fitting, feels underground and hidden. We stopped in for our first meal in Boston. It did not disappoint! We started with the Garlic Soup, just as yummy as it sounds. You could smell the truffles when it hit the table. For entrees, we got the Fonduta (think fondue with steak and mushrooms) and Sweet Potato Bacon Brown Butter Ravioli. The ravioli was an appetizer but the waiter offered it as an entree portion. All was fabulous, would definitely recommend to all who love a nice ambiance and delicious food.

One of my favorite restaurants in Boston, a hidden gem, an amazing Italian restaurant outside of north end. The menus does not change much over years but classic. Wellington steak is only served on weekend but you cannot go wrong with any dishes here. Very cozy atmosphere.

My friends and I had a wonderful dinner here over the weekend. Cute, cozy & perfect food. Establishment was small however the service was top notch and the food was amazing. Get the garlic soup (sounds freaky but please just get it and dunk your bread in it). Intimate AF and well worth your $. Go here. Make the resy and you won’t be disappointed.

I was very pleased with this restaurant, so much so I would come back. I would go to try more of their food and drinks options. I thought the place was pretty affordable and our waiter was very kind and nice. I liked the ambiance and how intimate and small it was. My salmon meal was absolutely delicious that sauce it was in was amazing. The banana bread dessert so good!!! I gave a 4 only because the the caesar salad dressing tasted like mayo, my ravioli was great but it seems like the sauce it was sitting in was bacon fat which was not tasty and lastly my fiance meal was great but it just needed some black pepper and salt. Other than those minor things, I really enjoyed my time there.
