Honestly can’t thank this place enough for how great they were!!!! Booked a table for 18 and turned up with 20 (clearly I can’t do maths) and they made everything possible! We wanted for nothing! The service was perfect! We never pre booked but food was not a long wait even tho there was so many of us and a full restaurant! Can’t recommend this place enough if it’s for a quick tea or a big group this is the place to go!!!
Thank you very much again!!!
This was an amazing place - staff were fab
We had the chefs tapas mixture
Totally recommend this place 👍👍
This place has so much seating inside and outside so we managed to get a seat very easily. The staff were so polite and ensured we were ok throughout our whole visit here. The food came quicker than expected and was extremely good and tasty. The price of the food was very reasonable.
Whilst on holiday in Bowness on Windermere we decided to check into the Village Inn for an evening meal.
I opted for Lasagne, Julie had Gammon Steak and our daughter had Mac and Cheese.
Lasagne came with salad and garlic bread which was done to perfection.
Gammon steak was with chips that were done just right not too crispy or soft.
Mac and cheese came with salad and garlic bread.
Reasonably priced meals with drinks and the service was great with no waiting too long at all.
The inside of the place was clean and nearly empty as it was not yet the time for evening lunch as we went in just before 5pm. There were some people outside having drinks.
Give it a try as it is very reasonable and the food was great!
EDIT:
In response to the reply from the Village Inn - Yes we did enjoy the food and we will be back when we return next year!
Thank you again.
Self service (order at the bar with your table no), usual pub fare. Battered fish was over fried, but the chicken and steak pies were enjoyable. No mustard available for the steak pie. Large outside eating area. Well located in the heart of Bowness. Overall 3.5 stars but have rounded up as it was dog friendly outside where we were seated.
We had lunch here before taking a boat ride.
Honestly, best chicken katsu curry we had in England. Didn't expect to find it in Lake District, we had ordered it dubiously. "Chicken katsu curry, here of all places?" No regrets! The fries next to the katsu sauce absorbed it a bit and became quite amazing too, I recommend dipping them!
We also had fish and chips, which was pretty good.
The staff is decent and helpful, the venue is nice especially under the sun, near the lake so you can just walk down and chill there or take the boat.
It's dog friendly, btw.
Great place. A very good size. Does get very busy. Dog friendly with a dog menu and do dog drinks to offer. Great food menus with lots of choice. Typical pub food. Some good size tvs if you fancy the sports. Will definitely returne.
It's been over 18 years since our last visit, this time we came with our two teenage boys - one of whom was celebrating his 13th birthday that very day.
It wasn't busy and we were greeted by a friendly member of staff. We found a table, ordered our food with no fuss, and it was cooked and served promptly. We all ordered plant-based meals, of which there was a great selection (unlike many of the restaurants/pubs we came across in the Lake District so far). The food was absolutely delicious!! All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals (I can personally recommend the pulled-mushroom chili and 'corn ribs'). There was also a pretty good range of ales on offer, although several were not available at the time of our visit, sadly. The only slight negative was the awful music: very modern R&B type of stuff including mindless rapping and generic tuneless 'auto-tune' dirges that make you want to attack the sound system with a blunt instrument.
Why not vary the music? The majority of customers were older, with an average of about 45 at a guess. I'm sure they'd appreciate some sounds from other decades.
Other than this, though, we really enjoyed our visit
Such a nice Pub / restaurant. Dog friendly and the barman’s and waiters are fantastic and kind. Good atmosphere. Definitely recommend the food and having a sundowner.
Called in for evening meals, we don't eat meat but found they had a good selection of fish and vegetarian options, food and drinks were fine and reasonably priced, part of the Greene King chain. Option to sit in or outside if the weather is nice, family and dog friendly, no complaints.
We walked out of another restaurant due to rude staff and found this place up the road. We were met with a friendly bartender and waitress and ordered our food which came out at a good time. Etiquette goes a long way. If only other people knew this.
Fantastic place. Service was spot on, taking great care of my wife's allergies. Food was simply amazing (the beef goulash is a must) and even our puppy was catered for. Will definitely be back next time we are over this way.
