Hey Mon's Cafe

Too my surprise there was a Caribbean restaurant in Brandon area. I was so excited! When I went it was clean and not busy. As well the serving staff was very polite. However, this review is on the entirety of the food. I have tried many foods from many places. This food has an unique and flavorful taste. But, it is no Caribbean style cooking. I am not certain if there are going for a twist; This is nothing close to West Indian, Indian, or Caribbean cooking. The portions are way to small...Only like Walmart or Publix serves food at this portions and yet it is still fulling and prices are more affordable. I am not certain if there is a business problem! I am not familiar with anyone serving a meal in that way. The portion of the meat is ridiculous (Like 2 pieces of pholourie or ping pong ball size). You are wasting money. The flavor of the food....I don't know where to start. Please stop saying this is a Jamaican restaurant or Trinidadian restaurant. Why is your food sweet; Okay, why so much sweet? Why do all your food have the same taste? What is going on with the bake? The flavors are all mixed up and does not touch a true caribbean dish. Bottom line! this restaurant seriously need to re-evaluate their menu. Or try a different restaurant name. There is always room for improvement and a lot is needed. Remember the food is flavorful and sweet, but not Caribbean.
