Bangkok 101

I was craving for some Thai food last Saturday, so I went to this restaurant. I have eaten here before, and I thought the food was good. They were not busy, so I was given a table and menu right away. It went downhill from there. It took more than fifteen minutes before a waiter came to the table. I ordered a bowl of coconut chicken soup and mango salad. I thought I should order a glass of wine while waiting for my food, so I asked for a wine list. I was given a wine list, but nobody came to take my order. After almost twenty minutes, the mango salad came. I ordered a glass of wine. When I saw the salad, I thought they made a mistake. The whole plate was scattered with greens, topped with an inordinate amount of shredded carrots. I was going to complain that I didn't order carrot salad, but upon further digging, I found some extremely ripe tiny slices of mango - six slices, to be precise - not even half a cheek of the whole mango! The whole thing was ridiculous. This salad has no resemblance whatsoever to any mango salad that I have eaten in other restaurants before. I ate half of the salad, but the soup never came. I wanted to pay and leave, but I was so hungry. I got the attention of a waiter and asked her as to what happened to the chicken coconut soup. She left and immediately came back with the soup, plus the wine! Just looking at the soup, I could tell that it was seriously missing one of the main ingredients - the coconut milk. Still, I was anticipating some coconut taste. What a disappointment! It was completely watered down, with neither the taste of coconut nor the chicken. There were two very small pieces of chicken meat, and the rest was baby corn. I am a very tolerant customer when it comes to wait staff and food in restaurants. But, this restaurant gave me such a bad experience that it may take me a very long time before I return again, if ever. Incidentally, I was also given the wrong wine.
