We were looking for a dog friendly place to eat and this came up as a suggestion on Google. We were impressed with the food - kids options were varied and good portion sizes (great home made chicken nuggets), grown ups had homemade roasted veg and beef lasagna, both were excellent. The kids were happy at being able to watch the cricket - there’s loads of TV screens to keep up with the action, even in the toilets! Aesthetically the pub doesn’t necessarily have loads of kerb appeal, but we were glad we stopped by!
I had the Chicken in Black Bean Sauce from the specials board and it was one of the best meals out I've had in a while. There was a good male vocalist on at 9pm as well (Saturday night) and a section available for those who wanted to watch the sport on the TV. All of our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals and it was clean plates all round. The pies were full of filling, chips were nice and chunky and the lasagnes tasted fresh. I don't know when we will be back over the East Coast again but I would strongly recommend this place to anyone staying in the area or at the Caravan Park next door.
We arrived a little late for the Carvery but had a Carvery Baguette. There was a chef called Christian who's customer service was exceptional such a credit to the business it's a long time since I had service as good as this. The Meat (I had Pork and Stuffing My Partner had beef)was so tender and tasty. Served with roast potatoes and gravy(normally served with chips). Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be going again would highly recommend. They have love music on a Saturday as well I noticed.
Great food, attentive friendly service and very reasonable prices. Would recommend.
Arrived at about 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. It was moderately busy, we were served quickly with no fuss. Carvery was very good, meats were cooked perfectly, there was a great variety of veg. The cauliflower cheese was amazing and the Yorkshire pudd and stuffing balls were spot on. The veg was still being replenished so no shortages and not dried out. The gravy which can make it break a carvery had been made with meet stock and was very good. Staff came over to check everything was good, all in all it was an excellent Sunday Carvery. Thanks
We stumbled upon this lovely Sunday Carvery £11.95 pp at The Martonian Inn today. Staying up the road at Thornwick Bay Holiday Park ... it was lucky as 4.30pm. JAMIE ... a pleasant helpful waitress, got us seated and gave us a ticket. What a nice welcome at this time of day. Drinks orders taken by another friendly waitress, didn't wait long. Within few minutes, carvery options offered for us to choose from, good choice of meats. Tender beef and Turkey we chose 😋 both cooked well. Also vegetarian nut roast an option. Ham or Pork too. All vegetables help yourself beautifully cooked, WHAT A CHOICE
.. and take a gravy boat to yr table and sauces as you go. What a treat. Made our Sunday guys. Thank you. 😊 Spacious and friendly atmosphere. Nice seating areas. Bar separate. Also showing England match in separate area too. All great 👍 would recommend. Relaxing. X
Unfortunately you are unable to book in advance so we had to take our chances. Fortunately it is a big place and they managed to seat the five of us. The lady at the front of house isn't very smiley and seemed a little brusque but she was efficient. Young waitresses were friendly and helpful. Opted for the carvery. We had to book our vegetarian option 10 minuting advance so we did that straight away and then went to order our own drinks from the bar for ease. The carvery was delicious and plentiful with lots of choice and the servers were mindful to change gloves when handling the vegetarian option after the meat which was good. Also had separate vegetarian gravy in a jug. Really enjoyed the food. Laid back atmosphere, quite informal. I would recommend.
A very nice pub. The food was excellent, with reasonable portions and very good value.
The staff were friendly, polite, and good at their jobs.
We had a lunch meal here and will return here when back to the area in the future. It is dog friendly and even provides dog ice cream on the sweet menu!
Been trying to get in here for number of years, always very busy. There was plenty of room in the large wooden shed area at the front, we were told by man, either manager or owner that he couldn't let us in there as it was for people with dogs and couldn't make exception for us, we were told to wait on the bench in the doorway. People were walking in after us and when people had finished sat down before us. Not a good system, names should be took on a waiting list then called out when room available. Having said that when we got our meals they were very nice and tasty and a decent portion, also the staff were friendly and approachable. Our grandsons had a pudding which they liked although not as much chocolate sauce in the melt in the middle choc pudding as was expected. When we were leaving there was plenty of people in eating area at front that had no dogs, they told us they go in all the time, don't ask, just go in and sit which is what will do in the future. Would recomend the food here and call next time we are in area
First time here and was pleasantly surprised. We had the carvery, everthing was nicely cooked, presented and hot. The staff are lovely and don't pester you. Dessert was amazing too, will definitely go back and highly recommend 👌
