Great food, one of the best pubs I have had a meal at. Lovely staff. Lots of choice and great value. Definitely recommend
We had a fantastic meal here two years ago and always wanted to go back which we did last night and had another lovely meal, definitely recommend a visit here. Really good food, friendly staff and a lovely countryside setting - perfect.
A fabulous pub/restaurant we were a group of 5 walkers. We stayed the night Oct 2017 in lovely shabby chic rooms and enjoyed the chocolates, biscuits and huge shower. Evening meal and breakfast were outstanding. Highly recommend thank you
One of the best weekends ever, great food, brilliant welcome and hospitality, a special location and lovely room. Would recommend anyone who is looking for a weekend away this is the place.

We had a lovely unplanned lunch here today...and boy were we happy!! :-).....Mum and my little boy both had steak (everything on the adult menu is available in children's portions)...and I had a whole plaice....everything was cooked perfectly....and so welcoming! Thank you!
Lovely cosy country pub, delicious food and friendly staff. I'd particularly recommend the yummy Sunday roast :)
Had such a great New Years Eve ! Thank you so much ! X
We stopped here for lunch and a couple of drinks mid-walk and found a friendly welcome, nice local brews and tasty food. Menu was varied and portions generous, the cottage pie with fresh vegetables was lovely. We had two dogs with us so sat in the garden which had plenty of space and a sheltered bit to stay out of the rain or sun.
This is absolutely one of the best places to eat in the south west by miles!! It is consistently fantastic with wonderful fresh produce locally sourced. The cooking is always of a really high standard. The staff are wonderful and super friendly. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. The best kept secret in Dorset. I just hope I can always get a table!
Stayed one night, excellent room, clean, comfy bed, great view. Breakfast very good, plenty of good quality food. We also ate in the evening, great menu and food, good choice of fish and vegetarian meals in particular. Location is very rural, very quiet, lovely views, recommended.
Food incredible, staff lovely, sat outside with a party including a toddler. Facilities for kids were wonderful. It was very relaxed, but even with all the kids play equipment it didn't feel like we were in playground!
Elegant style pub, in/outdoor seating, children playground. Excellent food and beverage, friendly hospitable service at reasonable prices. I just love this place..I would recommend advance booking. Fish and chips is definitely my favourite dish.
Fantastic pub, with amazing food. Very good choice of vegetarian food. In Nettlecombe with a wonderful garden and play area for those with kids. Would highly recommend eating here.
We only had an evening meal which was delicious. Friendly owner & service. Very uncomfortable narrow bench seats though which is why we haven't been back orctaken friends there.
Small but very nice little pub, great park for the kids and food was lovely, oasis in the middle of Fields
Travelling from Devon to Sussex and made a stop for one night. Great room and great service. It's in the middle of nowhere but so quiet and relaxing.
Great spot in beautiful rural location. Good excellent, but opening hours limited, as with all pubs these days.
I am so pleased we found this wonderful pub. We’ve just had the most amazing meals ever!!
Sometimes when you go out in a group a person finds their meal isn’t quite right but tonight, this pub nailed all of our meals!! The fillet steak was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were delicious and the crispy onions were beautifully crisp!! No sign of grease as all.
The minted lamb steak was superb and the shoulder of lamb was delicious too. The vegetable fritters were very crispy & tasty. Honestly, I was impressed!!!!
Lovely friendly staff as well as food & wonderfully clean toilets.
Seriously, best of luck to you guys, you deserve great praise. See you next year!! ☺️☺️
Traditional Style pub with excellent food and a good selection of dishes. It's in a country setting with single Track roads with passing places.(if using sat nav please pay attention to the road signs as there is a road turn off that is not suitable for motor vehicles!!! Its signposted)
Very good menu, including multiple veggie options, and very friendly and helpful service.
Lovely garden area, great food especially, the puds, and friendly staff, very relaxing.
Amazing food reasonably priced lovely location and staff
Great lunch on Tuesday, local barnsley chop delicious 😋
Took my parents as I drove past many a time due to work. Great customer service and great food.
We been at the pub, very very nice food for good price. Friendly staff!
An excellent litle pub. We were visiting Bridport and read the reviews posted about the Marquis. We were absolutely delighted to find they were spot on! Delightful pub with local beers and a tremendous chef. The owners and their staff are very friendly and welcoming. It is well worth the back road travel to reach it, the rewards are truly pleasing.
