One of my favourite bar in the city. The staff is helpful and friendly and they have a good selection of beers on tap. I never really enjoyed gay bars but I love this one from the time. The only thing I don't like is the music but it is the same in every gay bar around the world. I can't say anything more than go and try it yourself.

Great little pub tucked away just off the main drag (not that sort of drag!). This is a small pub and the bar is literally right there on the left as you walk in. Good choice of drinks and very friendly staff and regulars. I'm told they do excellent food and that the portions are generous. Certainly worth calling in!

Small, friendly and traditionally styled pub, with stained glass windows at the front, lots of wood panelling and low ceilings. The pub is cosy and narrow, and are (very) small seating areas at the front and back, with standing room along the bar in between. They have two hand-pumps but on our visit only had Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter, although it was a decent enough pint. The punters are mostly gay men, in the 30-50ish age range. The loos are downstairs with no level access, and there's no dedicated smoking area.

Marine Tavern is a gorgeous little gay bar on Broad street, downstairs from One Broad Street guest house that I recently stayed in. Although it is a gay bar, everybody who's anybody, including your dog, is welcome with open arms. Despite its small size, it has bags of character in terms of decor and staff. Floor to ceiling wood paneling is complimented by soft lighting and mirrors and the semi-oval bars acts as the hub for the very lively and social clientele and bar tenders. It's a little Cheers right here in B-town.

What was meant to be a quick afternoon drink drink, ended up beieng 8 hours. Yep, as a total newbee to Brighton this is a gem, good service, and good customer fun it just got better, and better and better, and oh boy ...! Everyone had an excellent time and I guess no one wanted to leave, myself included. Staff excellent through out, great humour and a real fun-crowd.

Typical bar - great atmosphere, friendly customers and staff. Tucked away just off St James's almost opposite Boots

Decent pub and our second stop into town on mini pub crawl last Saturday. Not a huge number of tables because it’s quite a small place but we found one for the four of us at the back. Was frequented mainly by locals who knew each other. Cozy atmosphere but we only stayed for one. Loved the “Soup of the day: Gin” sign, made us chuckle. A nice friendly place for a pint, would happily return next time we’re in Brighton. Iain, London

Lovely little place that I've been going to on and off for years. The staff are professional and helpful and you can go in on your own and chat to someone. Unfortunately the hole in the ceiling at the back let's the place down.

As circus performers who have been fortunate to travel across the globe, we recently had the joy of participating in Brighton Fringe for the first time, with United Queendom Show. After the Show, our hearts yearned for a local pub where we could unwind and connect with the authentic spirit of the city. It was during our search that we discovered the humble haven known as Marine Tavern. Nestled away from the bustling streets, Marine Tavern proved to be a true gem. With its unassuming charm and down-to-earth ambiance, it surpassed our expectations. The welcoming atmosphere and warm crowd perfectly embodied the essence of Brighton's inclusive nature. It was a place where we felt instantly at ease and embraced as part of the local community. If, like us, you prefer to explore local establishments rather than tourist traps, Marine Tavern should be on the top of your list. It's the perfect spot to unwind, where you can mingle with locals and fellow performers, exchanging stories and building authentic connections. Whether you're a visitor seeking an unpretentious retreat or a Brighton resident looking for a humble and welcoming pub, we wholeheartedly recommend seeking solace in the warm embrace of Marine Tavern. Prepare yourself for an evening of genuine hospitality and memories that will make you feel like part of a larger family. This hidden gem is a testament to the humble spirit of Brighton.

An Aladdin's cave of a venue which unfolds with classic British boozer charm the moment you step through the door into its atmospheric folds. Fabulous array of beers, wines and beverages and classic pub food. Loads of nooks and crannies to suit most party size and needs and a flow of happy punters. What more do you want?

Lovely welcoming pub .. you certainly enter as a stranger but leave as a friend, not a pub to be a wallflower ..you get out of the experience for what you put in ....you talk, then the locals chat back ...sit and gaze into oblivion then don’t expect to many laughs in return . Conversation is a two way street and if you want to join in and have laughs in a very small but friendly pub give this a try

There is no food. Bartender is very friendly. Lives up to the smallest LGBT bar. With good drinks

Good pint in a local pub. They weren’t serving food That day, but I had a good time. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

£10 for a generous, homemade roast, £2 extra for pig in a blanket and stuffing balls. The roast comes with a choice of meat (lamb, chicken or beef), cheesy leeks, Yorkshire pudding, steam broccoli, roasted carrots, roast potatoes, mash, cheese sauce, gravy and a choice of mustard, mint sauce or horseradish.

Your local place. It's pretty small but makes it all that much home-like.
