In honour of National Vegetarian Week, I thought it was fitting to write a post about Iydea, one of Brighton’s most popular vegetarian cafés. Iydea has won a number of accolades including the Brighton and Hove Foodie Award and the Vegetarian Society Award. I love the food here and needless to say, it is one of my favourite places to go to for lunch or an informal early dinner. On the menu is an eclectic mix of homemade vegetarian and vegan food with a number of gluten free options – there is no style or cuisine and you’ll find lasagne on the menu next to quiche and the Indonesian inspired gado gado (meat free versions of course!). Iydea is also licenced and have vegetarian friendly wine and beer on the drinks list.
Super sweet vegetarian cafe, perfectly tucked in to the iconic and adorable Brighton lanes. We had the vegan breakfast and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Above and beyond a typical cafe breakfast, with attention to flavourful ingredients. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this cute spot for a breakfast bite.
Choose your own meal combination spot, it has a kind of meal/salad bar from where to pick up the mains, hot and cold sides and toppings, so service is pretty fast. They also have a decent amount of drink options including juices. Everything is delicious and fresh.
Wholesome home-cooked style, mostly vegan food (some veggie options) served up in a positive and welcoming environment for the most reasonable prices!!
Can't say how much I enjoy this gem of a restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner--the options are endless, and you can choose your main, sides and toppings for your perfect meal!
Iydea is possibly my favourite place to eat in Brighton.
One of my favourite places to eat in Brighton. It’s full of awesome veggie food options and their roasted potatoes are super yummy! They always have a variety of vegan and vegetarian main, side, salad, and toppings options as well as smoothies, deserts and more. This little restaurant is always very busy, but we always manage to find a place to seat when there. Prices are great and staff is amaze! Highly recommend.
Best scrambled eggs I've ever had. Really nice minimalist aesthetic, combined with knowledge that the food is fairly sourced, organic and healthy. Highly recommend the smoothies, and the Iydea breakfasts. Perfect for vegetarians and vegans. The staff were really humble, and very friendly and accommodating. Will make this a must-visit whenever I come to Brighton.
Nice vegetarian canteen-style cafe, with a good variety of dishes - when we went they had things like enchiladas, caribbean bean stew, green curry and more. It was £8 for a main, rice, two sides and one topping, so it's a big plate of food for a reasonable price. Good if you fancy a healthy lunch.
The best veggie food in Brighton! So many tasty options and different everyday :) the juices are also amazing. Been coming here for years and love it so much :)
Very busy and cold with the door open most of the time. Small inside, so lucky to get a table. Probably on the pricey end of the spectrum. But food was lovely. Probably a mistake to have had the carrot and ginger drink with all the food, as was all a bit much for my stomach. Enchiladas were spicy.
Great healthy tasty fresh food.
Paid £7.50 for takeout (which got me 1 main, 2 salads and 2 toppings).
Costs a pound or 2 more if you eat in (but then you also get more food, and they fill a plate for you).
This is a buffet style serving, were the food/menu is continually changed over.
Can recommend if your in the Lanes and looking for a healthy filling lunch.
Had a brilliant lunch, tasty, wholesome and generous. Staff friendly and very reasonable priced.
