We love Riddle & Finns. The food is fantastic, staff is great and the lovely view is just a cherry on top. We have been going to R&F for quite some years now and the quality of the food never changes, we have always had an amazing dinner there.
Warm and welcoming service from the hello at the door and gentleman who helped us with our table. We were so lucky to get an outside table
The bread and dips butters and fish were so tasty I could have eaten a bucket load of those
food was delicious (scallops and tempura prawns) and when we rather embarrassingly didn’t know how to crack open the crab our waiter helped us out (for reference if you get the crab salad it’s not dressed crab ! Haha) a great start to our girls day out and my 4 year old daughters first time in Brighton , thanks guys you made our day :)
Had a dinner with friends. Had my first oyster experience there and fell in love with oysters. All the rest dishes were great as well. Really recommend the restaurant if you’re in Brighton and like seafood. The price I specified includes 2 bottles of wine and other spirits.
We were taken to Riddle & Fins for lunch by a good friend when visiting Brighton for the day. They didn't realise I was a vegan, so not really a huge choice for me. However, the restaurant itself is gorgeous and the staff were wonderfully friendly. We were lucky enough that it was the most glorious day, as you can see from the photos, so I have to say the experience was brilliant. I know my friends loved their food and the wine was excellent. Highly recommended... But maybe not if you don't eat fish 😁
This fish restaurant is simply outstanding. Bella, our waitress, provided top-notch service that made our dining experience truly memorable. The food was exceptional, with each dish highlighting the freshness and quality of the seafood. If you're in the mood for delicious fish dishes served with a side of excellent service, this restaurant is a must-try.
I had Oysters for the first time in my life here at Riddle and Finns. The helpful waiter was patient and advised us through which type to order and gave us good guidance in that regard. We thoroughly enjoyed the oysters and would have them again.
The calamari with peanut and ginger sauce was also fantastic as was the bread with dipping sauces.
Service was first class, and if we'd have been a little luckier with the weather the views would have been awesome, the location is so close to the sea it really feels as if you are seated over the water.
I absolutely recommend trying this restaurant if you are in Brighton.
Service was well above the standard by the young waiter today 10th November at lunch service.
All food were amazing to look at and perfectly cooked and the Royal Seafood Platter @£165 is well worth the money for its quality and freshness. Its enough for 4 people to share with a few smaller plates in addition. No one is left hungry by the end.
Lovely lunch here with a good friend. Unfortunately made to wait even though there were tables visible, which always irks me a little. The seafood is very high quality and all dishes we tried were delicious. The starter portion of mussels was particularly generous and very fresh. Chef's kiss. Beware seagulls overhead if you're on the balcony, as we had a few bits dropped on us. Not cool, and the waitress just laughed it off. Thankfully it wasn't in our food as I'm not sure that would have been quite as funny.
Great service and great food. They even provided free chocolate dessert for birthday. Highly recommend!
The food was amazingly good and the service could not have been better. We had a really wonderful evening of gathering old friends and new friends as well. Thanks for such a warm welcome.
Amazing food and venue. The service was exceptional. Jonathan and his team took great care of us and gave us the most wonderful afternoon. The food was amazing. We both had the stuffed bream which was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Delicious! An utterly flawless afternoon and I couldn’t recommend highly enough. Thank you!
We were visiting Brighton for two nights and this place was recommended to us by a friend. The oysters were so fresh and they had an excellent scallop special. Staff was very warm, and the place was a great atmosphere by the beach. Thank you for an excellent meal!
My Wife and I had a great experience here. The staff were great, very friendly and when recommending menu choices never once tried to oversell. We had popped in for some early evening Oysters and Champagne and thoroughly enjoyed the Jersey Oysters...Jersey Thursday was an added bonus!!! The Caviar was also delicious. We will 100% be back again soon.
Our server Tom was fantastic, he answered in detail any question we had, made us laugh and gave brilliant service. Highly recommend Riddle and Finns to others. We first visited 7 years ago for our first weekend away together. This weekend we celebrated our honeymoon. Had a wonderful time.
Brilliant food and view (weather dependent). The oyster is a bit small but very fresh. Fish dish is nothing surprising but the scallop starter is full of flavour. It's a bit pricey but I guess you pay for the view 😅
We have visited Riddle and Finns the Beach several times now and it is always fantastic. We love the jersey oysters. The bread basket is always so delicious with dips that come with it which always seem to be different every time we visit. Today we were looked after by Christian who was very hospitable, knowledgeable and gave us a great lunch experience. Thank you for this fantastic meal, brilliant service. We will absolutely be back soon!
Food 8/10
Value for money 7.5/10
Atmosphere 7/10
I have been to Riddle & Finns many times but at the lanes not the seaside one. Got to admit, the design and the view is amazing. However with such a beautiful design and view, I personally prefer a 1:1 table setting, rather than having to share with 3, 4 different parties on the same long marble table just like The Lanes one.
However its safe to say, food wise, its the same quality as the Lanes one. I've ordered the below:
Bread basket (free) - Riddle has one of the best bread basket I've tried, they are the best not because of the bread, it's because of the spreads that come with. I mean free salmon tartare, what else you want?
Tune tartare (Seasonal dish) - Very creamy tasty tuna tartare with fried Nori (seaweed). The battered/tempaura Seaweed its a tad oily but it's hard to get it right.
Brighton seared scallops - they were really fresh and cooked in perfection; medium rare, golden brown on the outside, white to slight transparent inside. The sauce and pork crackling harmonized the scallops really well, not over powering and gives an extra layer of texture.
Catch of the Mackerel - The fish is tasty, pack with meat (also a lot of little bones), pretty juicy and seasoned very well, the only down side is not the whole fish is enjoyable, some part of the fish are extremely bitter and fill with bones. I think it can be prevented with some type of preparations.
Fish soup - pack with FLAVOURS. The fish has pretty much most of the seafood, from mackerel to mussels to prawns. The ingredients are fresh and the taste it's tasty but I think it's just a tad too strong, soup its a bit thic, a bit "in your face" type of vibe, if it can be slighly runnier, soupy, that would be my perfence. It's like having Beyonce singing for you, like her voice is great but if she sing right infront of ur face, you wouldn't enjoy as much(at least i wouldn't lol). The soup is so thick, almost like a sauce. I rekon it will go well with pasta. But the toasted sourdough was pretty good also.
Ordered 1 cocktail, 1 mocktail.
Total was around £120 all together. I wouldn't say is a cheap casual dinner, but 60 pound per head for a seafood meal with an impeccable sea view, I'm pretty satisfied.
Had the most amazing drinks and seafood on Friday night
Served by John who was lovely and had the most amazing spicy marg served by Tommy. Was so cute 🫶❤️🍤🦪
