I had Oysters for the first time in my life here at Riddle and Finns. The helpful waiter was patient and advised us through which type to order and gave us good guidance in that regard. We thoroughly enjoyed the oysters and would have them again.
The calamari with peanut and ginger sauce was also fantastic as was the bread with dipping sauces.
Service was first class, and if we'd have been a little luckier with the weather the views would have been awesome, the location is so close to the sea it really feels as if you are seated over the water.
I absolutely recommend trying this restaurant if you are in Brighton.

Lovely lunch here with a good friend. Unfortunately made to wait even though there were tables visible, which always irks me a little. The seafood is very high quality and all dishes we tried were delicious. The starter portion of mussels was particularly generous and very fresh. Chef's kiss. Beware seagulls overhead if you're on the balcony, as we had a few bits dropped on us. Not cool, and the waitress just laughed it off. Thankfully it wasn't in our food as I'm not sure that would have been quite as funny.

Our server Tom was fantastic, he answered in detail any question we had, made us laugh and gave brilliant service. Highly recommend Riddle and Finns to others. We first visited 7 years ago for our first weekend away together. This weekend we celebrated our honeymoon. Had a wonderful time.

This is a little gem. You can't seem to book but totally worth going. Was just oysters and champagne for us but the seafood menu is extensive and top notch.
Very attentive and friendly service. Definitely go back again.

I have been to Riddle & Finns many times but at the lanes not the seaside one. Got to admit, the design and the view is amazing. However with such a beautiful design and view, I personally prefer a 1:1 table setting, rather than having to share with 3, 4 different parties on the same long marble table just like The Lanes one.
However its safe to say, food wise, its the same quality as the Lanes one. I've ordered the below:
Bread basket (free) - Riddle has one of the best bread basket I've tried, they are the best not because of the bread, it's because of the spreads that come with. I mean free salmon tartare, what else you want?
Tune tartare (Seasonal dish) - Very creamy tasty tuna tartare with fried Nori (seaweed). The battered/tempaura Seaweed its a tad oily but it's hard to get it right.
Brighton seared scallops - they were really fresh and cooked in perfection; medium rare, golden brown on the outside, white to slight transparent inside. The sauce and pork crackling harmonized the scallops really well, not over powering and gives an extra layer of texture.
Catch of the Mackerel - The fish is tasty, pack with meat (also a lot of little bones), pretty juicy and seasoned very well, the only down side is not the whole fish is enjoyable, some part of the fish are extremely bitter and fill with bones. I think it can be prevented with some type of preparations.
Fish soup - pack with FLAVOURS. The fish has pretty much most of the seafood, from mackerel to mussels to prawns. The ingredients are fresh and the taste it's tasty but I think it's just a tad too strong, soup its a bit thic, a bit "in your face" type of vibe, if it can be slighly runnier, soupy, that would be my perfence. It's like having Beyonce singing for you, like her voice is great but if she sing right infront of ur face, you wouldn't enjoy as much(at least i wouldn't lol). The soup is so thick, almost like a sauce. I rekon it will go well with pasta. But the toasted sourdough was pretty good also.
Ordered 1 cocktail, 1 mocktail.
Total was around £120 all together. I wouldn't say is a cheap casual dinner, but 60 pound per head for a seafood meal with an impeccable sea view, I'm pretty satisfied.

Brilliant food and view (weather dependent). The oyster is a bit small but very fresh. Fish dish is nothing surprising but the scallop starter is full of flavour. It's a bit pricey but I guess you pay for the view 😅

Food and service faultless! Had the best meal I’ve had in ages. So much so that we ate there again the following day. Daily catch of day sea bream was utterly delicious, gorgeous sides, everything cooked to perfection! Staff so friendly and helpful, we will sooooo be going back

It in a great spot next to the beach, french set up with not many tables. Sat outside with good views, oysters are great hear, the squid could have been better, but the service was excellent, they knew there wines and pairing with food. Pricey but great for getting away from the crowds. Oysters and Muscadet lovely

There are a lot of really good places to seafood in Brighton and riddle and Finns is right up there with them. Fairly expensive but I'd say reasonably priced, the food served looked fantastic and tasted just as good. It's such a prime location with amazing views across the seafront you can't go wrong. Having skate wings on the menu is always a winner for me, I can't speak highly enough of the food.

We stopped here last minute when my friend fancied Oysters for her birthday. It was so beautifully decorated, the staff were so welcoming and lovely, they put bread on the table and I explained I was gluten free, without me asking for anything they went to the kitchen and whipped me up a batch of delicious gf blini! They gave my friend some beautiful chocolate truffle balls with Happy Birthday scattered in yummy chocolate on the plate and 4 spoons so she could share with us all. We only ordered some little picky bits and some drinks and they still went to maximum effort, we felt so spoilt. The Bloody/Virgin Mary’s were DELICIOUS too, beautifully presented with all the trimmings.

I went there for my birthday and I was happy with everything. The service is perfect, the seafood is absolutely delicious and very fresh. I really like the atmosphere. The design of the place made me feel close to the sea and also with chefs. They also surprised me with the “happy birthday” chocolate truffle!

Great place to enjoy food with sea view. I order the classic seafood platter (£60) and it’s just enough for us two girls as we had the bread offered by the restaurant. The oysters and prawns taste great, but the whelks came with too much sands. The atmosphere is a bit noisy which I’m ok with but my friend cannot bear it so we left without having a dessert.

Went here as a group for a special occasion. Had a table booked for 19:00. Slight delay to the table.
Was seated at a table right by the door with lots of people coming and going at least once people were not polite enough to close to door after leaving. Which disturbed us a bit as it was a really windy day and we had to do this.
Long waits between service, for a busy night only 2 people attending to all tables mostly. Took time to even order drinks and be given the menus.
The food was exceptionally good, however, the service is lacking. We waited quite a long time to have our plates cleared and we were not offered dessert for 30 minutes. Over the course of a 2 hour dine we were offered to order drinks once only and the waiters were too busy to ask.
Small things are not as good as they could be here. Couples have to sit next to each other not opposite we heard several people confused by this. No coat racks when coming in, people have more than just a coat in the winter months. Service service service. That really let the meal down. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water and it was never brought to us, we had to ask for it to be removed from the bill. Service charge is high and already included so to be honest, I feel the waiters do not try to please.
Would try it again but for a £250 meal for 4. I was a bit disappointed. I have had better service in many chain establishments.

Side by side dining was a different experience - awkward at first as another couple sat directly opposite us so it felt like a double blind date but quickly got over the awkwardness with the conversations with the friendly & knowledgeable waiter. Really beautiful starters (oysters, scallops and tuna tartare) however neither of us was keen on the seafood risotto which was quite bland. Overall however, a great experience and the location was perfect getting to watch the sun set on Brighton seafront. We would like to visit again.

We went for a late lunch around 5pm on a Friday. No line, no waitlist, we were immediately offered a table inside.
Service was friendly, restaurant clean and well maintained.
Ordered a bottle of white (served a few degrees too warm), two starters and the classic seafood platter with an additional half lobster. The warm wine seemed to be a general problem, as the gentleman across ordered a lot of ice cubes for his glass of wine.
All the seafood was fresh and delightful, but the lobster tail was tough (claw was fine).
We also enjoyed some really well mixed espresso martinis.
We'd go again, lovely views, good service and fun food.

Lovely staff who made my friends' birthdays really lovely.
Delicious food and views.
Max behind the bar made us feel really welcome. All the staff were knowledgeable and friendly.
