It is a cozy little restaurant with delicious food. I had the Sunday roast and was very yummy. English food with a French flair. The meat was tender, crispy roasted potato, perfectly roasted carrots and crunchy steamed green beans and the icing on cake was the gravy. The pint of beer was excellent.
Lovely restaurant, although hard to spot it - there's a sign mostly hidden near an alleyway on the right pointing you there.
Staff really friendly, service really quick, and the food was excellent. Value for money is really reasonable, too. Would definitely come back.
Been living in Brighton 6 months and this was actually the best meal we have had here. Mussels were fresh, soft, tasty sauce and gorgeous bread. As were the prawns. Lunchtime steak deal also very good, steak was juicy and tasty, fries and veg also delicious, as was the peppercorn sauce and plenty of it!
We had two cocktails at happy hour to wash it all down which were also v good!
Service was spot on and great value for money.
100% will be back!!
It is hidden around a little corner so look out for the signage.
I heard great things about the restaurant and was not disappointed. I ordered the beef wellington and my partner the fish of the day, a lovely salmon. The service staff were attentive and friendly, the food fast and delicious. I would highly recommend. Though maybe more expensive than other local restaurants you really pay for what you get, with delicious food that is obviously fresh.
Try the beef Wellington and the steak here. It was acceptable for the price and flavour.
The steak pasta was not good. Chewy steak
Maybe a little short of staff, so it takes time to get served.
Great food - recommend the signature beef wellington and fish of the day (sea bass) enough. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely go back.
Unbelievably good! I had the beef Wellington and every element (meat, mushroom and pastry) was cooked perfectly. It doesn't feel pretentious, the restaurant has a really nice vibe . Overall would highly recommend
Steak was lovely. Atmosphere basic - better lighting would give a cosier feel. Friendly staff. Expensive. We booked for a birthday but it wasn't acknowledged, even though we told them when we booked online.
Wow what a restaurant, I’m surprised it wasn’t full.
We came here because we were specifically looking for a beef wellington. And we were not disappointed.
Thee beef wellington takes 30 mins to cook but it’s worth the wait, the portion size too is amazing.
The house bouillabaisse was delicious , again massive portion size, with the most flavourful and unique garlic bread. It was almost like rye bread (but good rye bread!).
The sea bass, once again massive! However all the taste was lovely and everything I wouldn’t order again. The amount of butter that it was swimming in was just a bit nauseating to eat, let alone difficult not to spill. It definitely did not require that amount of butter on my plate. You had to be there to see it but it was ridiculously lots to the point it was a joke.
The surf n turf was perfect with the chunkiest of chips!
I’m always a bit specific when choosing where to eat because I value interiors as much as food and the photos didn’t put much hope in me . But these photos are so inaccurate. The interior is divine. Hence the name, it’s set up in an old house and we were sat downstairs for reference not sure what upstairs was like. But a beautiful restaurant, felt authentic.
The service was great, all the servers were so friendly . Kept us up to date on the wait for food. Even the young woman at the end took the time to speak to us about our trip to Brighton.
You should definitely visit here!
Very nice restaurant. We have visited four times now over the last couple of years and it has never failed to disappoint. The staff are professional and the service quick. There is a lovely ambience and we feel really comfortable. The food is amazing...so tasty, and the prices are reasonable as well. We will definitely return :-)
Hidden Gem! Tucked away in a little side street this restaurant is an amazing place to go with the family. We sat upstairs, were attended to very quickly and the staff are friendly.
Food was served quick. Every dish on the table was a wow with the family. Seafood was fresh and delicate. Chicken was soft and juicy throughout. Steak was done just right although a little small for some.
Got the lunchtime specials - Chargrilled 6oz Minute Steak & Home Made Oven Baked Fish Cake. The price was really good for the quantity and taste of the food. Staff is nice and friendly. The restaurant has a nice vibe.
Really lovely food, friendly staff and in a nice setting.
Arrived on a hot afternoon and chose to sit in as it was cool and welcoming. Lovely menu but the surprise is the excellent presentation, followed by the incredible flavours of the food. Left alone to enjoy our food, we both remarked upon our superb meals.
Absolutely loved it here! It's so cosy and cute, we sat in the little nook in the alcove and had the king prawns & parma ham for starters, Chicken Supreme, Rib Eye Steak for mains and chocolate and almond torte for dessert. I cannot fault anything here, it was completely delicious, perfectly cooked and the service was spot on, will 100% come back. 5 stars from us!!
The House Restaurant in Brighton is highly recommended for its exceptional service and quality of food. The ambience of the restaurant is soothing and adds to the overall dining experience. Definitely a great place definitely recommend!
I picked this restaurant for my first meal in Britain, and it's so surprising
I ordered onion rings and beef wellington,
Onion rings are so crispy and flavourful,
and as for beef wellington, it's good to taste just with gravy, but 10 times better with mash and fresh veg aside. I especially like the flavour of the gravy!
Photos below!
I ordered the House Bouillabaisse and Stilton, walnut and spinach risotto. The wait time was average for a restaurant and the service was okay. The food is on the pricier side but that was expected. The House Bouillabaisse had a nice flavour with an good amount of seafood. The risotto was creamy and rich but it’s missing something as it feels a bit one-dimensional. Overall, really enjoyed it and would recommend.
I went there, two years ago & had mouthwatering dishes from there.
Two years on due to covid & so many lockdowns, we revisited, this lovely Restaurant. As you can see in the photos, the food here is Glorious. The staff are very polite, the drinks, the food are top notch, it was/is well worth the wait.
Very well done
