I had an absolutely awesome beef burger. The chunky fries were good. The place is lovely. The staff was very friendly. I had a great experience overall. (The place wasn’t very busy. It would assume it could be quite loud when it‘s full of people.)

Burgers are usually pretty good, lots of variations and "guest" burger get rotated in the menu, always worth checking what's currently on.
They used to have the most delicious salt, called "Hei Hei" salt (this is honestly borderline addictive on fries or one of their massive onion rings) - but they've recently stopped having it for some reason.
Bring the Hei Hei salt back, GBK!! 🙏

Visited with a friend yesterday. Had the blue cheeseburger with melted stilton which was very nice, though wasn't keen on the coleslaw (but not my idea). Ladies (Aimee and another lady whose name we didn't get) both very helpful and menu flexible as well when I asked for one or two variants...

Really impressed with the service at this branch. I came here yesterday with a friend who suffers from several major food intolerances, and our server--who I think may have been a manager--was incredibly considerate, making sure to check every item we requested and made necessary alterations so that my friend could safely enjoy his meal. The actual quality of the food was fantastic as well; my burger was especially delicious. One of the best branches of GBK around.

Haven’t been for a while but was pleasantly surprised. Burger and chips for £7 & an order of onion rings (£3 and delicious). Lost a star as there was a happy hour for drinks but you couldn’t use this with the £7 burger deal.

Great chicken burger, we’ve ordered grilled one and was delicious, full of flavour; there are vegetarian options too! you will need to order fries separately, and there is sweet potato ones, they are my favourite.
Great service and very central in the heart of North lanes!

Yet another nice GBK restaurant that is rarer to find nowadays. They have closed many branches in the past few years. I enjoyed my well cooked burger very much, juicy and not overdone like in many other chains.

I have not been to a GBK before, found ourselves in the lanes debating where to go and chose here, and glad we did.
As soon as we stepped in the door, we were greeted very warmly by a smiling member of staff that asked if we would prefer a table or a booth.
The service he provided was very kind, helpful with the food choices and details, and recommended a very tasty and well cooked Korean burger.
All the food was cooked well, tasted fresh, and was full of flavour.
The tables were clean, the toilets were clean, and we didn't feel rushed or an inconvenience at all.
A very pleasant meal. Thank you, Kai, for a great service!

Both milk shakes and the beef burgers are delicious!! But chicken burgers are dry and lack flavour. Not the biggest fan of their chips either. The staff is friendly and service is good. As for prices, compared to similar restaurants the prices are actually good. You can the the classic bundle for 14£ (classic burger, chips, and a milkshake of your choice).

We rocked up with a group of 10 on a Saturday evening without a booking and the staff were really friendly and found places for us to sit.
All of our food came quickly and ordering on the app was easy. Our friend with peanut allergies was also well looked after.
Food was brilliant as well!

One of two Gourmet Burger Kitchen branches in Brighton, and the most central on Gardner Street, I decided to call here to grab some lunch on my final day in Brighton before heading back home to Manchester.
This place hasn't been reviewed for a long time, so long that GBK has almost doubled their prices from the £6-£8 they originally sold for, now £8-£11+ being common, then requiring the purchase of sides such as chips and a milkshake, alone the latter is £4.90 and it is a real shame that unlike most burger joints, they don't offer a meal deal. I mean, who wants a burger without sides? They do offer it for special limited edition burgers and the smaller lunch menu but for me, this isn't good enough!
I decided to opt for one of the few reasonably priced items on the menu, the £6.95 lunch menu's grilled chicken option which was a basic chicken burger with grilled chicken, lettuce, red onion and relish with a small chunky skin-on fries.
The staff were friendly, they explained the situation regarding the chips not containing gluten but they fully understood cross-contamination and why they wouldn't be considered gluten-free due to frying them with the onion rings. I had them, have not been sick from them before and for me, good chips make the burger, and they are pretty decent with the hei hei salt, which is similar to Nando's peri salt as it has a slight kick to it.
The manager did, however, seem to be a little confused, with the ordering process via the app, I love the idea of ordering and paying from one's table but I don't like how it doesn't include the option to modify the type of cheese or add the lunch menu for gluten-free diners.
My burger was overall decent quality, it did a lot in restoring my faith after a previous experience with GBK in Sheffield which was dreadful, I did, however, find the end parts of the chicken to taste a little hard and boney, I would have preferred a fully succulent, tasty chicken breast fillet, They're trying to include everything and it doesn't work.
The burger also felt a little plain, perhaps it also could have been needed of a little more sauces or perhaps an American cheese slice. The burger is the typical GBK bun, which I think could be better as it is far too small for the meat usually and just tastes soggy.
The food was decent, quick making it all in all a good lunch at a good price between 12 and 5 weekdays, this is, however, the only time I'd say GBK is worth visiting anymore, however. Although not overly impressive, they did a good job on a number of accounts to warrant a solid three-star rating.

Nice place to visit in brighton not the usual place as burger place.
Nice drafts on tab. Also friendly atmosophere.
Went in for a small bite and the way the serve it is a great way.
Fries in a little bucket and the burger just not too big to bite.
It pisses me off when you can't finf a way to have a good bite from bun with burger.
Next year hopefully around during the Pride week and go for another try down there

Whilst my 2 star review may seem harsh it is for the fact that I feel the chain should be doing so much more. Burgers seem to be the "in" thing at the moment with so many pubs offering "gourmet" burgers for half the price. I found the menu to be on the small side and was disappointed to see that after spending nearly £10 on a burger you have to then spend extra to get some chips, add the price of a drink and you are looking at £15+ for a slightly better than average meal. I just dont feel the cost matches the quality and for this I feel my 2* evaluation is justified

GBK is like Nando's. I went there thinking it was going to be amazing because everyone raves on about it, and then I tried it and it was really underwhelming because everyone had hyped it up too much. All the options were stuff I've seen before. It was really safe. Even the interior of the place was something you see everywhere else.

The only criticism I would give is we waited along time for our drinks but really loved the venue worth a visit

Does what it says on the tin - great burgers in a nice atmosphere.
We had to wait 20 minutes for our burgers, which we were told when we ordered because it was busy, but it took almost as long to get our drinks which was a bit annoying.
The camemburger was tasty & the sweet potato fries were delicious - for £12 including a drink it was good value.
As I said it was busy and as a result my friends chair kept getting hit as people squeezed past him which got irritating quite quickly do we didn't hang around.

My husband and I gave GBK a go as we had a 2 for 1 voucher. Thankfully we had this as I don't think we'll ever come back to pay full price for the food. I had the 'The Don' burger which was salty and lacked flavour. Service was okay but was at least thankful that they served our food in 15 minutes.
Unfortunately due to the standard food quality and its prices, I don't think I'll come back.

We came here Sunday evening as we had been to the GBK at Milton keynes and thought it would be a nice treat. But we were wrong, we went in and we were left waiting for 5 minutes for a table, even though three quarters of the tables were empty and staff kept walking past us. Finally we got seated and placed our order. I had the GBK burger and my wife had a salad.
After about a 15 minute wait, the waitress came over and told my wife they didn't have the vegetable crisps to go with her salad. I don't understand why not, they are not a fresh food that goes off quick, so they should have had stock and there was no excuse. They offered advocado with the salad instead of the crisps, which my wife accepted, but when the salad came out the advocado was rock hard and not even edible. Next thing to go wrong was my GBK burger, it came out very greasy and luke warm, again i wasnt happy, but by this stage was too hungry to complain.
When the waitress came over at the end with the bill she asked why my wife didnt eat the advocado, my wife explained that it was rock hard and unedible, the waitress just shrugged and said it was the ripest one they had. But no offer of a discount or an apology.
The venue itself wasnt like the one in Milton Keynes, and this one felt grubby and tired and is in major need of a make over.

You can't really go wrong with a GBK - its exactly what it says on the tin - hearty, really tasty burgers and chips.
There are some quite creative burgers here (confit of duck burger??) which really isn't my cup of tea and without trying it, I'd say stick to the great basics!
Cheese and bacon, blue cheese with mushroom, the breaded or pan fried chicken burgers are excellent (although for me the beef burgers are a must).
Not all would agree with me but the skinny fries are my favourite over the chunky ones (not because they're healthier - there's no avoiding fat in this place!) but because I'm a girl who likes to finish her meal and the big chunky chips alone could finish me off without even touching the burger!
The Oreo cocktails are massive, indulgent and moreish - YUM (make sure you save place for this or get one to take away!).
Its fairly inexpensive and pretty consistent - lots of food and you know exactly what you're going to get.
Feeling a bit peckish just writing this....GBK for dinner perhaps?!

OHH my gosh. Coming from greasy and oily burgers in America, this was a good first burger in the UK. A couple of friends and I came here because we had a coupon and I am pretty glad that I decided to join them that night. I was really debating if I should go or not because I didn't really think of coming to the UK for "American food".
I got the BBQ burger and the patty was PERFECTLY cooked. No burnt areas at all and it wasn't undercooked at all. Also a side of large fries, not too greasy and not too thin. Although we were extremely hesitant about how to eat the burger because it was stacked so high that it was probably impossible to fit into our mouth and eat with our hands. Looking around we saw that almost everyone was using their utensils to cut and eat so we decided to eat the proper way. This resulted in burgers falling apart and a night full of laughs. I totally want to go back and try another burger but don't know if that's possible with the time I left here in the UK.
Not sure if it's worth the price in becoming a regular because we had a buy 1 burger get the second for one pound. But it is definitely a place to try at least once.

Hit and Miss.
The first couple of times i thought the food was great but overpriced. The quality of the burgers was i felt worth the price, but should have included the chips, and a couple of the dips.
More recently however they seem to have dropped the prices of their burgers, although they still sting you if you want any extras, (like chips, or dip). but with the prices the quality seems to have dropped too. we went twice this year and both times the chips were cold and soggy, and the burgers seemed to have had their flavours removed.

You have to give it to a company that can take the humble beef burger and turn it into a restaurant style dining experience. Located beneath the Komedia comedy club in the North Laine, this place certainly looks the part. With a modern decor utilising a lot of wood and shuttered doors to take advantage of the pedestrianised road during summer weekends, you would imagine a eatery with an expansive menu. What you get is burgers.....a lot of burgers.
They do certainly have an impressive range and they follow more of an American BIG burger ethos than McDonald's. I must admit they certainly fill you up and taste pretty good. The only down side is that you will be paying about £8 for a burger. If you want any extras you have to pay on top of that. I guess if you are areal Elvis Presley style burger fan, this won't be a problem, but I was a bit reluctant to pay so much for something I could make for about £2 at home.
They do sell smaller burgers and the food is certainly leaps and bounds above your usual burger bar. The staff were okay, but probably not quite up to the standard they try and maintain with the food. It's worth the odd trip here if you want to experience a burger as it should be made, but then again £8 can buy a lot in this city other than a meat patty in a bap.

This is a great place to sit and enjoy some lunch in the summer as they have some great seating set out in the front which is great for some people watching too. As you might guess, they specialise in all things burger. They have a huge range of the things and they are really good. I myself opted for the plain old cheese burger and it was excellent as are the chips.
My big gripe is just the price. They really do kick you up the bottom when they charge £8 for what is essentially a big sandwich but it beats the greasy golden arches by a long way.

If this is gourmet cooking, Raymond Blanc has a lot to answer for, and I have clearly misunderstood the definition of the word 'gourmet' my entire adult life. Do other gourmet have a bar where you order? And an aquarium with no fish in? And a wall that changes colour for no adequately explored reason?
I'm nitpicking here: it is actually very good, just not what it purports to be. It's a burger bar: a big, outlandish decorated burger bar that quite literally spoils you for choice. Some of the combinations are unusual, as are some of the meats: you can keep you bison burger GBK, thank you very much. If you look past all that, the finished product is very good indeed: I've had some very tasty burgers here. They don't seem to be made to be eaten by hand, as they are quite simply too large to be held by normal humans, which is a bit strange, but foregiveable.
Again, it's all too expensive, but I may as well tack that onto the end of most of my reviews of Brighton businesses: it's an expensive part of the country, folks! Still, if I want a burger that can be classed as evening meal in its own right, I'm liable to end up here.

Part of a growing national chain, the Gourmet Burger Kitchen is a guaranteed good meal for any burger fan. As you might expect from the name, the menu is entirely comprised of burgers and the expect accompaniments.
On offer are about 20 different takes on the classic burger; ranging from the traditional hamburger, going all the way down to the Kiwi Burger (pineapple?!!?). I'm personally a fan of the Mexican burger, or if i'm feeling adventurous; the Chicken satay.
The burgers are all cooked to order, and while a little pricey (between £6-8), they really are fantastic. They offer quite a few good incentives like discount cards and vouchers as well, a perfect excuse to return here time and time again.

In the States, you could probably expect to find a handful of great burger joints in every city. Unfortunately, Brighton only has a few with one of the most consistent being Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
Situated smack in the middle of the North Laines, GBK is a lively place that's quite busy in the week and rammed at weekends. They have seating indoors and out and the large dining area makes it perfect for big groups and kids birthday parties. The steep prices mean parents that decide to treat their kid had better check their wallets before inviting along the rest of the class!
There's 28 different burgers on the menu, all made from tasty Aberdeen-Angus steak apart from the organic Laverstoke Park Farm range (which includes buffalo and wild boar). Seasoning wise, you can choose from cajun, chilli, BBQ, mexican and satay to more yuppy varieties like avacado and bacon. Vegetarians have a choice of falafel, puy lentil, mushroom or aubergine burgers but having sampled these, I'd recommend sticking to fries and milkshake. Really.
The price of burgers range from £6-£8 but they charge an extra £2.75 for fries and an extra £1.55 for dipping sauces. The sauces are hand-made allegedly but I still think it's a little mean to charge for such small quantities. They also sell a small range of beers, wines, sodas and milkshakes. Don't go expecting a diner milkshake made from ice-cream, milk and valhrona though - these are much thinner and flavourless, hence 4 stars instead of 5!

Having been here on a number of occasions. The Burgers are usually to die for, we went again with the kids for a special treat as its usually so good.
The service of the drinks was very slow and when the food arrived it was luke warm, including the chips, it was especially noisy and you could hardly hear the music. They also seem to have changed the quality of the meat, credit crunch must be biting, which was not up to the usual standard.
The place might be clean, (Its New) but staff were cold and indifferent to the children.
The Oreo Milkshakes were good, as was the homemade coleslaw, overall we left feeling dissappointed with the experience, don;t think we'll be going back.
