We decided to come here before the Easter bonnet parade and drag race. Never been before , liked the way place has been done up, is small but adds to atmosphere. We had a selection of flat breads and baked Camembert to start with . Really nice flavours and nice and light. We both had block beef burger. Lovely and hit the spot , very filling. Service was good as mega busy they coped well. Service was nice and attentive

Went here at the weekend. Received a warm welcome. The food was good although fairly small portioned.
Went for the tacos and a side of fries. Paid about £23.00 on a three for two promo had six tacos which tasted great but very pretty small.
Drinks were good and standard priced. If you like to smoke there plenty of room in the back in a heated open area. Would go again.

We stopped coming to the Block some time ago as the service had always been atrocious. Good news! it got better! There was a really good vibe at the Block this weekend. It was late afternoon, there was a dj on the decks & the beer garden was full. Block now takes cards - which it never had previously. Drinks were good, we didn't stop for food. Lots of the tables were 'reserved' & we were moved on twice by the manager. I did mention this & that we were locals but just got a shrug.
Great place for drinks in the sun - only downside - there were uncontrolled children running around & far too many hen parties. So it wasn't the most relaxing drink in the sun. But nice, nevertheless.

The best venue in Brighton for consistently putting on good DJs, great food and supplying the best cocktails.
A family friendly atmosphere that my family genuinely love.
My "go to" venue for a safe space for my kids. Never drama. Just good vibes.

Breakfasts are £6.50 each (£19 if you want bottomless bucks fizz or bloody Mary's).
The food took a while to arrive but the staff were very friendly.
Decor was unique and someone was having a haircut in the middle of the the bar (?), but worth a visit.

Block has a cool, vibrant vibe with a comfortable inviting garden area out the back. If you're lucky you might catch a Tech-Noir set!

Really fun bar, Steve and Jezebel were great. Had pizza delivered direct to our table. Lovely afternoon and evening. Great decor too.

Great casual dinner, fun environment, food tastes great with drinks - fried chicken, tacos, etc. my fav is caramelized pork tacos!

I loved this place! Like a magnet we were sucked in. This is on point with London places. Brighton are a few years behind the capital and I think this is as close as you’ll get to the London scene. Really nice beer garden with DJ playing. Ordered some sharing plates, wow. Literally perfect. The ox croquets were unparalleled to anything else consumed that day, and that was a lot!

Celebrated my birthday/impromptu engagement party here and had the absolute best time! Big thank you to everyone working, couldn’t have asked for a better night!

This will have been our 3rd or 4th visit to this Restaurant over the past year or so. We have alway's liked it otherwise we wouldn't have gone back however the past two visits have been
exceptional. Although it is in a chain, we have alway's found the food and service in this branch
very good. The waiters are alway's very attentive and patient whenever we have asked to change
our order etc.

Whilst away with my wife for a long weekend in Brighton we decided to pop into the Bella Italia for dinner, we had a good table with good service, the wine was excellent and the food good, on time and hot. Would recommend it as a place to go if you are stuff in Brighton.

BLOCK Bar hosted our summer party last month! It was the best party location EVER!! We had private use of the entire venue and the Ibiza style garden! The drinks and food were flowing and the bar staff and management brought the party vibes!!! Super cool people! Thanks so much for making the night so special! We will be back! LOVED IT!!! x

I'll be the first to admit that I'm biased. The owners have been acquaintances of mine for many years and I played a small part in the original garden renovation project so I'm well aware of the fastidious attention to detail that has gone in to creating the environment here. That said, even if these biases didn't exist Block would still be my go to place in Brighton. My aforementioned biases are overwhelmingly trumped by the fact that it's the place I met my wife.
We left Brighton many years ago but whenever we return for a cheeky weekend away we always find ourselves hanging out in the beer garden here. It's just a lovely place to be with such a chilled vibe about it. There's always interesting craft beers on tap and last time we visited we ate too and it was very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff are always friendly and the venue is spotlessly clean.
Block will always have a special place in my life as clichéd as that might sound, but for good reason. I also can't imagine that I'm the only one who feels this way given how great this place is.

My girlfriend and I were lured in under the false pretence of a fish BBQ. In many different parts of the world, including the uk, this would mean local fish simply cooked on a BBQ with a nice side salad or carb. This offering was a selection of tuna, swordfish, salmon and king prawn 'kebabs' with an Asian salad.
I can only assume the chef has never actually been to Asia given that, I assure you all, their idea of a salad is not badly spiralised (most of them weren't even separated) vegetables with some soy sauce and two coriander leaves.
The fish selection itself didn't really make sense given that Brighton is on the seaside and has a ton of local fish, all of these are imported, the nearest being from Scotland and the rest shipped over frozen from Asia. The salmon and King prawns were raw, the swordfish overcooked and tuna was the sinewy scrap ends cut off the main fillet. Having worked in food for 10 years (and owning my own restaurant) this is entirely accurate.
I ordered some skin on fries as a side (these were fine) and some chicken skewers which at £8 were probably the most embarrassing piece of food I've ordered in my whole life. Literally factory farmed chicken cooked on a grill, completely dry with no seasoning at all served with shop bought hoi sin sauce.
These were served with two incredibly insipid cocktails at £8.50 a pop.
All in all, the food was a complete shambles and I would sooner die than serve anybody, even my worst enemy this awful food. Avoid.

We held our engagement party at Block on Saturday 4th November. Such a lovely bar and the covered and heated garden was warm and comfortable on a crisp November night! Nice atmosphere and felt intimate for us and our guests, however plenty of space as well and nice not to feel confined to one area. Huge thanks to Simon who couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely guy very friendly and attentive.
If anyone is looking for event space I highly recommend Block. It puts the typical function room to shame with so much more to offer and something a little bit different.
Thank you again guys you gave us a lovely night to remember.

Came over from Eastbourne to try the Sunday roast and it was stunning. Started with croquettes and pig hock, both yum and a perfect set up for the main show. Believe me their bertha oven has taken the humble Sunday roast to another level, perfect pork, wife had beef, but too much meat in my eyes but I soldiered on! The potatoes really really crispy. The charred cabbage which I was told is straight out the coals was fab. Creme d resistance was the giant butter and star anise carrot, perfect gravy. Was all top notch and well worth the trip over. Try it with a bottle of blank canvas, I did, this wine portrays class. Can't wait for my next visit. A very happy belly.

Used to love this place when it was neighbourhood but it's changed. Good points. Really lovely bar staff. Nice surroundings ( very quiet for a Friday night. Bad point's £13 for a plate of bland vegetables. I'm a vegetarian and have eaten in Etch , 64 degrees , the salt rooms and the set, all brilliant. This was rubbish. The manager tried to explain there was a lot of different cooking to my veg. All tasted the same. Such a shame. Won't be going back even though they have me a free pint

Amazing food, great wine and awesome staff, a hidden gem in Brighton. Now our favourite place to eat, x

Took some friends from Argentina for a meal here last night.
Venue = we had a table right at the front by the window, great for watching St James Street shenanigans on a Saturday night, near the DJ booth and bar so right in the atmosphere but still able to talk.
Food = delicious! Well presented, some vegan options for me, lots of great flavours. The meat and fish eaters were happy too!
Drink = nice craft ale on tap. the barman recommended some cocktails for each of us which were spot on
Staff = just fabulous, really attentive and friendly, explained the menu well to our visitors.
5* definitely will return here

Could not complain about the quality of the food.. the steak was amazing but everything else under seasoned and over priced. The main issue being the service... sooooo shit. The bar staff far more interested in their mates at the bar. Waited 20 minutes for our first drink. Sat inside after a while and honestly felt like yous sat in someone else’s party trying to eat dinner. As cool as they trying to be So. Not. Cool.

That was the best Sunday Lunch I have had in Brighton. They have clearly chosen to have only a few things on the menu, but to do those few things really really well. The refurb has also made the place super cool.

Love this place...top food...friendly owners... cool music... very welcoming

We went in after the kitchen had closed, and the lovely gent behind the bar spoke to the kitchen for us and told us we could still eat. That was the first slow clap in admiration, as we were starving and running out of options. Then our food came. The beef brisket burger and the Block Burger. I swear to god, tears were shed. Or meat sweats (not sure). Amazing food to make people well jelly. Cocktails looks amazing as well, and I fully intend to smash a few in the future.

We booked the cabana area in the garden for a very last minute wedding reception and the Block staff could not have been more accommodating in every way. Big shout out to the two bar staff, really friendly guy and gal, at one point I had my full glass of fizz cleared by mistake from our table and the bar member replaced it no questions asked, this is great service. The drinks were good value the food yummy and we all had a great night. I just wish you stayed open a bit later!! Such a great venue I would definitely hire again for a party!

Perfect Sunday lunch in the garden 🍴chilled out tunes, good vibe & great service by friendly staff...would thoroughly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻

Want to say a massive thank you to all the staff at Neighbourhood, celebrated my 21st there two weeks ago and despite the rain it couldn't have gone any better! Great food, great staff and great drinks

Friendly welcome and service, best rib-eye steak I’ve had in ages with a delicious bone marrow gravy. Quality ingredients done vet well. Impressive.

Overpriced for potion size, food was edible but nothing special at all, vegan brekfast was just a small pile of mushed up potato and beans. Also pea guacamole is...just peas with a bit of mint. No avocado involved at all ! 🤣 misleading. The manager or who ever was there at the time having a meeting was very unprofessional when talking to his staff to hurry up..she was on her own and it was busy poor girl. Not recommended.
