Lovely welcome. Amazing food. Delicious cocktails. And dog friendly. Starters of cheesy polenta cake delicious. Fried goats cheese to die for. Nut roast. Roast lamb. Roast potato’s buttery mash thin slices of parsnips and carrots green beans and garlic scented shredded greens. Plus a jug of gravy and a large Yorkshire pudding. Aubergine curry. All mouth watering and I have to say amazing. Only downside a little too much salt for my taste but that’s a personal thing. No room for dessert. And I forgot to take pictures of the food. Felt very welcome and now too full. If you want a great Sunday roast with alternatives for your weird friends who don’t like a roast. The Crown and Anchor is the place to go.

We enjoyed a delightful Easter Sunday roast, where every aspect from the food to the atmosphere and service was impeccable. We opted for three of the available meats (Pork Belly, Beef and Lamb), each dish was deliciously prepared and accompanied by a generous Yorkshire Pudding, veg, mashed potatoes and roast potatoes that were exceptionally tasty! Our drink choices included Cruzcampo beer, a glass of house red wine, and a double raspberry vodka with lemonade, all of which were reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and accommodating, creating a lovely atmosphere that was lively yet not overpowering, allowing for comfortable conversation. Overall, it was a wonderful Easter Sunday lunch experience and we look forward to returning. Highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am here to amend my last review - that was 5 years ago - to say that since new management and refurbishment, this pub has been an absolute gem and joy to come in and have our lovely, well-kept pint of local ale - Harvey's. The food has been wonderful, despite being reopened just over a month ago: we had the moussaka and the steak baguette; simply gorgeous throughout. We are DEFINITELY looking forward to a pint in the beautiful British sunshine in the lovely back garden at the doorsteps of the most beautiful park in Britain: Preston Park. If you need a place to put your feet up after a nice stroll in the park, this is the place to be. Thank you!

Food is fantastic, it’s always been good but they have recently had a new chef and it’s now excellent. The Sunday roasts are the best in Brighton in my opinion. Would highly recommend for meat and veggie/vegan options

I visited this lovely pub on Sunday with my partner and as soon as I walked in, I felt like I was at home; such a warm, friendly and cosy environment! The decor is beautiful and tastefully done and it really compliments the venue. I loved the little seating area with the chesterfield sofas! 😍 The garden was equally amazing! The bar staff and waiting staff were all very friendly. We ordered a Sunday roast and we were blown away! It was delicious and I remember saying to my partner that it was definitely one of the best roasts I’ve ever had! The yorkie’s are huge! 😁😋 We had the opportunity to bump into the chef, Alex as he walked through the dining area and I took the opportunity to thank him for such an amazing meal! Alex, just like all the staff, was extremely friendly. We will definitely return here time and time again, as a couple and with our family. Thank you Crown & Anchor for such an amazing experience…keep up the good work ☺️

Had an amazing Sunday roast here with friends. Our waitress Fiona was exceptional, attentive and professional and made us feel so welcome.. And nothing was too much to ask of her.. We left with full bellies and good memories. Will definitely be back very soon.. Lovely homely place. Great food, fair selection of drinks and amazing puddings.. Apple & Rhubarb crumble was perfect..

Excellent Sunday lunch with a pint of best bitter. Had the leg of lamb which was lovely, cooked with a hint of pink. More than enough food with a huge Yorkshire pud on top. Lovely

Nice pub. Very friendly staff. Ok beer choice. Quite a bit of seating inside. A few chairs and tables out back. The food was very good. Simple but tasty. Bit of an older crowd but nice and relaxed. Good for a quite drink. Would definitely go back for another drink and maybe even food!
