We were probably a bit old for this bar... But we still had a great time!! I liked the vibe and we had a nice spot near the window.

The new NOAH'S Burgers served in the pub are awesome. Amazing value for money, perfectly grilled, very tasty and huge. Especially the Big Boy. They are a MUST . The staff are always friendly, courteous and COOL.

Friendly staff who vibe with eachother, albeit a little reactive over proactive. Decent point. Nice vibe. Nice crowd. Well worth a visit

A lively pub and a Brighton institution that has taken quite a few guises over the years. Not much has changed in timers of the feel of the place which is a good thing. Quite lively on most days of the weeks and there is some outdoor seating too on the main drag. The beers weren’t too bad and were priced fairly averagely for town.

Watched a Brighton Fringe show in their upstairs function room. Good size with booth seating. Nice drinks and good decor downstairs.

Beautiful Louisiana Street food! Huge portions and oh so very tasty! My husband isn't bothered by food usually but he absolutely loved it and didn't stop going on about it for days! Staff were really friendly and helpful too! Can't wait to visit when we come back to Brighton soon!

I like this place. Open late. Good selection of beers and spirits. The food is good and the kitchen changes from time to time. Lots of seating with some outdoor benches. The burgers are nice at the moment. Hope the Curry Leaf comes back

The new Lucky Beach pop up at The Temple Bar is fantastic! What more can you ask for, our favorite beachfront cafe now doing Sunday Roasts! Yes please. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

They refused to serve me after my second pint saying I've had enough. The girl behind the counter said my reactions are slow. I was relaxed after work and it is funny to say that in a pub serving alcohol. After that one of my friend bought me one more, then she came to us and said I have to live. I'll never go back

Outstanding place. 1- for its choice of beer. Beavertown on tap? Yes please! 2- South Indian food which was brilliant! So random to find it here but so glad to sample the food. Very good. Perfect pub food I don't know why more pubs don't do it but they nail it here. Not sure what it's like here at night. I suspect if like it even more. In the day it's not what I expected in terms of decor. Almost too fun interior for the name which I expected to be a rock type pub but I loved it all the same for what I experienced.

The temple bar was always very dark and drab, but since they've redone it, I just think its fab! Very trendy looking with a great selection of beers! Staff are all very helpful and great at explaining all the different beers they have on offer. If its busy, like it was when we went in, there is an upstairs with lots of booths you can take a seat in. My one qualm was the smell. They have curry leaf cafe serving the food, now I LOVE curry leaf cafe and it always smells great when you go to the restaurant, but the whole bar smelt of curry. We'd just had a huge meal beforehand else where and when we walked in we were hit by a wall of curry, not really what we wanted! We sat upstairs and could no longer smell so all good in the end!

Great craft beers, absolutely delicious. But the smell of Indian food is somewhat overpowering, and the reggae music made me want to cry. Or die.

Popped in for a late night drink on Saturday and was really impressed with the refit. Friendly staff, plenty of space and cosy booths upstairs. Crazy good selection of beer on draft and by the bottle. I will be heading back soon to try the food - provided by the Curry Leaf Cafe no less.

Venture inside the Temple bar to discover a wonderfully plush interior and a fine selection of ales, lagers and ciders. Huge windows opening onto the street add to the spacious, airy feel. In addition to a good selection of lager, the Temple Bar also offers a particularly fine selection of local ales. While Dark Star's Festival should be recognisable to all, I was surprised to discover White's selection of Ale. White's is a small family brewery based in Bexhill and an introduction to its refreshing range of beer was long overdue. The staff here deserve particular mention. They're without exception a brilliant bunch. Friendly, attentive and patient they embody proper pub workers. Hats off to them, I say! The only downside to this bar (for me) is the music. 2/4 dance is not my cup of tea, but with several tables on Western Road it is easy to escape. However, even with this minor gripe the ambience of the Temple easily makes a trip here worth your time. More bars like this would be a very good thing along Western Road!

Formerly the 'Star and Sailor', Temple Bar is a good addition to the already vibrant Western Road scene. They offer a very interesting selection of drinks, including a number of ales and European lagers. The food menu is good, while nothing different from many of the other Brighton pubs, it's all cooked well and is certainly better than a number of their rivals. Temple Bar tends to get pretty busy on the weekends, but the atmosphere is definitely lively and enjoyable. You'll find the best of Brighton crowds; vibrant but still relaxed. I've definitely seen a night or two pass me by at Temple Bar, probably not for the last time either.

I used to drink in the Temple many years ago and must have missed it being re-named as the Star and Sailor? Very odd. I was always a fan and when I mooched in today I couldn't believe my eyes. Completely gutting a pub and re-furnishing/fitting it is a really expensive process and is usually done really badly by owners trying to save money or appeal to a new group of people. When you have the guts to fit a beautiful hardwood panoramic bar and install comfortable, tasteful furniture, to me it says you care about your pub and the way its run. There was a fantastic choice of bitters, lagers and ciders. They weren't serving food yet but are starting this Sunday (17th Jan) and I can pretty much guess it'll be really good quality.

Recently known as The Star and Sailor, The Temple Bar has gone back to it's original name after what looks to have been a massive re-branding effort. What strikes you immediately is the new décor. What once was a gaudy, purple, Vince Ray-style exterior is now more classically finished in a British racing green, framed with flowers and general greenery. The bar itself has been extended to be accessible from almost 360 degrees and all the pumps glisten in the way newly installed brass features tend to. To be honest the staff seem all the more chirpy for it. Prices are on average the same as they were under the pub's previous guise so, with real ales and organic ciders aplenty, it's the kind of place I could see becoming a very popular haunt for many of Brighton's older elite.
