Cajun Joe's

I see a lot of good reviews and maybe my experience is out of the norm. Got the seafood sampler, the catfish and the claim strips were not edible (rancid). The shrimp was good. The website says 6 pickle spears turns out they actually mean pickle fires which were to salty to eat. Mac and cheese and the cornbread was pretty good. I guess they are a chicken place

Cajun Joe's has the best Chicken Tenders around, made to order and always tender, juicy with just the right amount of crispy. They were my favorite close to 20 years ago and still today. Since moving away from Michigan I have not been able to find Gumbo that compares to theirs anywhere aside from New Orleans. Also love the Fried Okra dipped in Hot Sauce. Everything I have ever ordered from Cajun Joe's is always fresh and delicious. One of the top places I look forward to eating at every visit home.

This place has gone down hill. Everything looks like it's premade and sits out a long time under lights/on steam. Tried twice this year to give them the benefit of the doubt. First visit: I waited for 15 minutes with 1 person in front of me and then told standard chicken I was ordering would take approximately 20 minutes. 35 minutes to get food plus time to eat is a bit long for a run in chicken shack... I don't have this much time on lunch break and would not recommend if ever in a hurry. They can't seem to work through customers in parallel, it's always do one customer all the way through at snails pace and then start the next one. 2nd visit: Paid $5 for a small mashed potatoes and then when I asked where is the gravy, I had to pay another $2.50 separately for gravy. That's seems a little ridiculous that gravy doesn't come with mashed potatoes, when it's not separate on the sign. I understand things are tough due to pandemic, staffing, and inflation, but there's better food, with less cost and wait all over Brighton. I won't be back.

Very good chicken. I was learey at first to order on a Sunday since they are only open 3-7 but I was pleasantly surprised. Chicken looked really good when I walked in. Person helping me out was very nice and polite. Chicken was very crunchy and very moist. Not dry at all. Definitely be going back for their chicken!
