Located on ground level Wharf Park, in a relatively new office precinct, is a small modern Australian restaurant/cafe.
Offset by the Brisbane River, this place was the perfect choice for our business lunch.
The service was excellent, with both of our waiters friendly, polite and professional.
The menu is excellent. Small (probably because it’s lunch), but versatile enough to satisfy all. I would have loved some starter/entree selections on the menu, but the staff assisted by converting one of the existing dishes. Lunch dishes were between $18 & $30. The food was bang on! Great range of flavours and tastes.
The drinks menu was also well rounded and, everyone got what they were looking for.
The only downer was the difficulty in finding a park, but I would imagine this will become easier as the building nearby are brought to completion.
I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a quiet spot for lunch that is close by the city and valley, but not right in there.

Friendly staff. Dogs are allowed if you are seated at the outside tables. It gets cold there but thankfully they have blankets. Be sure to dress warm especially if there is a breeze. Coffee is excellent. The potato waffle eggs Benedict was delicious. I'd definitely go back.

Food was amazing. We had the steak sandwich and calamari. Smoothies were great too. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Great location. We highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Not to took my horn but I’m a bit of a salmon Benedict expert. Firstly, adding avo cost 6 dollars. The most I’ve seen at other places is 4-5 bucks. So on principle I didn’t add any. The salmon is cured in house I believe, rather thick cuts with more of a rubber texture that I didn’t like. Egg yolk for one of my eggs was fully cooked. That kind of ruined the Benny experience. Instead of muffin or sourdough bread they used a potato waffle. This shows a lack of understanding of the Benny experience. Bread is porous and absorbs the egg yolk and hollandaise sauce. The bread can be used to mop up the plate at the end of the meal and arguably provides the most flavoursome morsels. The potato waffle on the other hand lacks this quality. Fried potato also makes the meal heavier than it needs to be. Portion size was slightly smaller than average. There’s really no excuse for overcooked egg, any chef should be able to nail this 100% of the time. I won’t bring friends here again. The avo on toast was good, not stingy with the cheese. Staff polite. Nice area to walk around after food. Not coming back.

We walk past this place often and always see a flow people of going in and out, but having tried the food ourselves it was far from disappointing.
FOOD:
My husband ordered the big gnocchi breakfast. The presentation was great, taste was on point but the gnocchi was not cooked well as it stuck to your teeth and the dish was too heavy as it was drenched in all sorts of oil (Chorizo oil and some green herb oil)
The dish would have been better if it came with a slice of toast to absorb the sauce and make it less heavy or a wedge of lemon to neutralize it a little.
The crossiant was stale - it tastes like it has been sitting in the cabinet for days. For a cafe of this calibra and in the newstead area you would have expected them to toasted it before serving
The highlight was deff the coffee and the smoothie we ordered.
SERVICE
We didn't understand why we were questioned twice to scan and and show we are dbl Vax. The weird Q was if we had made a reservation when the waitor at the front had already asked us to scan in take a seat and help ourselves. The approach did not make us feel welcome at all. When other customers walking in were not questioned. It's evident that the staff here lacks communication or trust in each other to fulfill their tasks as front house staff.
For the price you pay I'd say best take it to gas works cafe/restaurants - better service and high quality fresh food!

The view and the atmosphere just as good as the food. You can see how much love the chef put on the dishes as they decorate your breakfast.

Recently moved into Newstead and regularly pass by usually calling for a takeaway coffee.
This week we’d booked a table for brunch as we had our 2 year old granddaughter staying for the weekend. So 2 1/2 plus our small terrier.
The staff were fantastic looking after us in the busy restaurant, nothing too much trouble.
We had a selection of juice, coffee, tea, meals, extra plate, etc etc. The food was really very tasty, staff helpful after I’d messed up the order.
Great location by the river, nice and quiet.

Cute cafe near the waters edge serving all day breakfasts, lunch and licensed. We stopped here to grab a lunch while the sun was still out. Enjoyed a beer and wine with our grilled barramundi and southern fried chicken burger. Both were good portions, good perfectly and tasty. The fish was well seasoned and the chicken was juicy and tender. It get busy for breakfast but worth coming back to check the rest of the menu out. Puppy friendly.
