Fire And Spice Restaurant

I have been here a few times now and each time has been a 5 star experience. Wont disappoint any lovers of Sri Lankan food and even for those that havent tried before there is plenty of variety both spicy and non spicy. Quality is always fresh and service is exceptional and very friendly. Compared to a lot of places it is reasonably inexpensive but you can get away ordering little as the meal sizes are quite generous to share around.

Fantastic spicy food, well presented in a nice setting. I would have given five stars but the bill was incorrect (wrong more expensive food item) and as this seems to only ever happen in the favour of a restaurant I made it a habit to deduce a star. There is parking outside as its located in a shopping strip center on Old Cleveland road. Indoor and outdoor seating available. There is a buffet on Sunday nights. Prices not cheap but ok, portions normal size.

We found this place in June and the food was excellent! It was true to its tagline 'a taste of Sri Lankan'. Everything we ordered were authentic Lankan cuisine. But the last few months have been very disappointing. On our last visit the chicken was uncooked, kothu was all mushy, the rice in lamprais was not fully cooked. Some of our friends had similar experience as well. I have been on the look out for a good Indian or Lankan restaurant for a really long time and once I found this i was over the moon! I really do hope they figure out what the issue is and improve.

We went for the buffet with a group of friends. All you can eat hoppers with rice and curry. Dessert was also included. Food was tasty but the hoppers which are traditionally gluten free was not! So I couldn't eat it. They were good to include string hoppers just for me. I found that it was too expensive for kids under 12. They charged $18 per child. We went for a serve of hoppers for our two kids. If you are Coeliac or have any other allergies you need to be careful of the food. They told me that the only thing i could not eat was the naan and hoppers however their fried rice had soy sauce that was not gluten free and the devilled fish was battered in flour. So please make sure you keep asking them questions. They seem to be naive when it comes to food allergies.
