Masala Hut

Very disappointing experience. Our curry was more like a soup with no flavour, no spice, added food colouring and very poor quality chicken that did not match with the price. Our Bombay Aloo came with very few potatoes, limited flavour and a bizarre sauce. The only positives were nice samosas and rice. Not a good representation of Indian food.

We tend to look around to where the Oxford Street hoi polio don't go as we’re fed up with the treatment from the restaurants, ie charging $40 for a bottle of plonk which cost them $8 and they don’t allow BYO!... and you idiots allow them to do it without complaints? Discovered Masala Hut by accident and the reviews were excellent. Turned out the reviews are bang on as the food was terrific ... as was the service... as was the vibe. We'll be back... but... please redo the menus with larger type as it was hilarious trying to read them with the phone torch. Two brilliant mains with rice for $40.20. I don’t even think they charged for corkage.

Dined in without a reservation. Friendly and helpful staff. Went out of their way rearranging tables to make us comfortable so our food could fit amongst our computer bits n bobs for our meeting. Food was sooooo good and tasty. Didn’t have the drink we requested but the service made up for it. Highly recommend. Tasteful decor/furniture and clean.

Very disappointing take away meals. The only good things were: The chicken and lamb in both curries were very tender. The onion bhaji's, although more like fritters were very flavoursome and were actually the nicest thing we ate. The bad things were: Not one hint of authetic spices or flavours. The chicken Malah curry "gravy" tasted like heinz cream of tomato soup. The lamb rogan josh (medium) was so bland, it had no spice or depth of flavour what so ever...tasted more like a casserole. The 3 dip starter was supposed to include mango chutney but it was sweet chilli sauce! The only hint of spice we got. The naan was soggy and tasted more like Mediterranean fayre than indian. Although it wasn't an inedible meal, it was really lame and totally unsatisfying and did not represent the authentic indian flavours a good indian resturant should be providing. We will not be ordering from here again. I am baffled by the good reviews i read before ordering. Who are these people?????
