Dumpling Republic Wintergarden

Came here because New Shanghai was closing up around 8pm on a Wednedsay night. This was quite delicious although the waitress did seem a bit hesitant to act when I asked for Vinegar with my dumplings. I liked the soup inside my steamed Siu Loong Bow and the lightly fried skin of my Pot Stickers. We also loved the beans. Light and non-oily! So Good! But prices are so much more expensive than the authentic restaurants out there.

Save yourself some time and go to Jackpot noodles – the prices are double but the food lesser quality. The drinks overpriced with $7.50 for a tea… and over $20 for a noodle stir-fry. But the worst aspect (and there are many) I must say is the service. With the wait staff ignoring the patrons gazes and ignoring their questions or when their ask for most basic things. The difference between when the first person got their order to the last was about 30 minutes. People were walking out of the restaurant without even getting their meals. That is the most honest review – I also shared this with a staff member and they just said “oh well sorry this never happens’ and basically too bad.

The pan fried dumplings were actually raw at the top. When I brought this up, I was informed that is how they are meant to be served. I would avoid the pan fried dumplings. The steamed dumplings were okay but I feel are over priced. The drinks menu was out dated and they didn't have the special available. There are just better restaurants available.

Came here for dinner with a group of friends and the food was fantastic and the restaurant was stunning and very spacious. The entry can look quite deceiving small but is very large and open in the back where the windows are. The food was better than I expected and tasted of very high quality. There is always other stuff you can get there apart from dumplings which makes sense I guess, there was from memory lots of side dish's you could get with hot and cold dish's as well, there was also a delicious wok range and more stuff which I couldn't remember. There are a larger variety of dumplings at lunch I heard so it's probably better to go there for lunch. I really think people should at least give this place a try because the food is spectacular and the restaurant is very professional, not enough people are going here and it would be a shame to see such a quality restaurant struggling. Give these guys a go!!
