Not children friendly, singles ok. This is where old school goes wrong. Dinning, bar and pokies in the same area, who's idea was this?. You are welcome to sit and eat at a table 50cm away from a pokie machine , but your children are not allowed to be around a pokie machine, otherwise you have to leave.., "but why.. sorry i dont make the rules". Typical example of people interpreting rules but not having common sense..parents and associated adults with children under the age of 3 are been berated and demoralised for being in multiple parts of the premises.

Sitting quietly on the bank of the Brisbane River is the layback venue called Merthyr Bowls. Never seems to get packed out these days ( unless there's a function on ), so wise to ring in advance . The food menu covers most tastes & is probably typical of a local pub with prices to match . Has beer on tap with a schooner of craft beer costing $6.90 (150 Lashes) or can purchase by the jug . Great to watch the continuous water craft passing by & joggers / dog walkers & bike riders on adjoining small pathway . Can get a bit cold if a fresh southerly is blowing so dress appropriately. On the well kept green, you can have a game of barefoot bowls , but you will need to book for that . There is a limited amount of free parking on site . Can now use eftpos for both food & drinks which need to be ordered inside . Very friendly and helpful staff. Update :- latest visit , similar to another review , couldn't find our booking . I50 lashes only craftish beer on tap . Chef apologized for fish and chips & would look into it . Best choice on menu would be Calamari, chips & salad for $19.50 . (very tender & also chefs choice)
