Cafe Bien

We ordered the avo on toast with hash brown side, caramel thick shake and a coffee. What a surprise this was, the best I’ve had- anywhere! The place seems to be run by 2 superstar women- one out front and one out back. It’s so important to support your locals. Delicious food and friendly service, thank you!

I felt a sense of sadness for the ladies running the shop. They are both so friendly and smiley but unfortunately, service and organisational skills need improvement. It wasn’t so busy but it still took over half an hour to prepare a simple meal order. The food itself was tasty and the coffee was great but waiting so long means that I wouldn’t return here. If you have the time or some work to do whilst you work then this is a cozy little spot. Also, there were 6 tables that the patrons had already left and the tables were left I cleaned for the whole time I was there which ended up being nearly an hour. I think the owners need to employ an extra person to clean tables and perhaps do some cooking so it’s not just one person preparing one meal at a time.

We came to this cafe looking at the 4 stars and positive reviews. Ordered Chef’s breakfast ($20)- as we had to order eggs our way, my sister asked for poached eggs and we got watery eggs with water all over the plate, dipping bacon and everything else surrounding it. Bacon was way too oily. Cutlery was not clean and when the lady gave us the cutlery she placed it on the table. I ordered chai latte which was bad, cold and I don’t know why they gave us in takeaway cups, they knew we were dining in. The banana shake ordered by my sister came in a mini cup and they charged $6 for that.

Nice little shop, but it’s got issues. They could start by moving the storage section out back, or build a partition so I’m not looking at the pile of old Christmas decorations and disposable cups that will soon go into use. Service is good, though they don’t seem to have enough people, that’s probably just life though. The thick shake I ordered is lumpy, not even sure how that’s possible because it’s not at all thick. I don’t know if everyone else thinks a milkshake is 20% ice cream and a thick shake is like 50%, so it’s “thick”... anyway this “thick shake” is more like a cold milk coffee, almost zero thickness. Overall it’s clean and nice enough, I will come here again, but I’m not going to pick their side products like a thick shake again, probably stick to the primary stuff like coffee.
