Karaage Japanese Cuisine

Handy little lunch spot on Adelaide St, doing an absolutely roaring lunchtime trade! I ordered the karaage chicken bowl (what else with a store name like that!). Despite the massive crowd, service was very quick & efficient. My karaage bowl was good without being great, and the price was fairly standard for a city lunch ($10). Worth a visit, especially if you work nearby. 👍

I do not even want to give one star to this unethical business. Despite how good their food is, the boss and some of the staff are absolutely unfriendly people. Improve your food hygiene and staff training processes please!!! I was doing a work trial here. Once I arrived, the front desk boy asked me to serve the customers without giving me an introduction about their food and services. As soon as I refused to service the customers in the circumstance that I've been given no information, the boy told me to stand aside to check the menu by myself. While I was standing aside, another girl in the kitchen came up to me, telling me to clean all the tables. Then I asked which table sections are owned by this restaurant, she pulled an ugly face towards me saying that all the tables outside needed to be cleaned. Once again, please, you guys cannot run a restaurant business like this!!!

I absolutely love the sushi here and would eat here everyday if I could. Staff have always been friendly and efficient!! I just wish they would ditch the plastic containers and rubber bands that people use for thirty seconds and then it goes straight in to the bin!! Let’s go for something that can be recycled!!

I've had hits and misses with this place. Don't order chicken karaage in the evening before they close. Ordered chicken karaage and they brought it out in 2 minutes. Seemed like they just gave me leftovers. The rice was still warm but the chicken was not. I had to heat it up in the microwave for 30 seconds. The outside coating of the chicken wasn't crispy but completely soggy. Felt like eating weird slimy mush with my chicken and rice. Changed my rating from 2 stars to 1 star because I felt sick after eating half of it.

Annnnd were back for a redeemers lunch to see if anything has improved in the last 18 months. Sadly no. I went for the top shelf priced large unagi and rice. For those who don't know this is barbecued eel a Japanese delicacy. What I got was a tiny little worm dripping in sweet soy sauce. What can you expect from the Chinese they just have no idea. This place is really cashing in on the fact that locals are ambivalent to Asian food authenticity. Aka NFI.
