Massaman Thai Restaurant

I had Takeaway from here in Sept which was lovely. Mussaman beef and a chicken cashew type stirfry. Visited on the weekend and was so suprised that the food was unexpectedly bland. it just lacked those delicious Thai flavours in the all main dishes and the entrees...fish cakes were nice with the sauce and service was also good.

Tonight was our first time at Massaman Thai. The food is delicious. They were busy with take away and we waited a while but it was worth the wait. The young man working at the desk apologised for keeping us waiting. I think the boss should keep him because he did a great job for a new employee. We'll be back!

After calling to place an order and having to call back 20 mins later due to a large order being prepared I place my order. Arrive to collect after the 25 min time told only to have two ladies running around appearing useless and half serving me. Then drive the 15-20 mins home to then find I was not give my 2 coconut rice which I had paid the extra for only plain rice. Everyone knows the coconut rice is as important as the rest of the dish when having Thai. Once again on the hunt to find a new Thai restaurant.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to sample one of best Thai cuisine in Brisbane. Massaman Thai Restaurant has exceeded my expectations and I am usually very difficult to impress. Upon arriving, I was greeted with a warm welcome by a wonderful couple/owners named Darin & Jack. They are friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to Thai cuisine. I ordered Number 12. Mixed Entree, Nunber 14. Tom Kha Chicken, Number 21. Stir Fried Chicken - Basil, Number 40. Salt & Pepper Squid and Number. 49 Jasmine Rice. The flavours were authentic and ingredients were very fresh for all the dishes served. The amount of oil and sugar used in their cuisine were minimal. I was very happy about this, as I like to eat clean and find that most Thai food and restaurants would add oil and sugar to enhance flavours. Something i always try and avoid. Being a visitor from Sydney, NSW and a foodie. As well as coming from a Thai heritage. I am spoilt for choice when it comes to Thai food. Other than my mother’s cooking, I am generally disappointed when I decide to visit most Thai restaurants. So, it was a surprise to learn that this slice of Thai food heaven do exist - especially in a little suburb of Albany, Brisbane QLD out of all places. In summary - I would highly recommend this restaurant to any local and visitors of the area. In addition to the food, you will get a top notch service and if you are lucky Darin might just serenade you with beautiful songs of your choice. Darin was an experience singer back in her heyday! I wish both Darin & Jack all the best with their Thai Restaurant and will definitely be visiting again, next time I am in Brisbane.
