Country Burgers

I just stopped in for the first time in ever to try this place out. I was really looking forward to a steak or beef burger and was a bit gutted when I was told they had neither in stock at 10.35 in the morning. In saying that though I ended up having the fish burger with chips and it was a good honest meal aswell as the hand cut chips being full of flavour and most of them crispy which is hard to do. Next time I come back hopefully they are fully stocked as I would love to try other burgers now. Would recommend.

Seen the "Home Made Chips" banner for years yet never stopped. Finally the timing was right, the anticipation of experiencing amazing home made Chips done well had me salivating. Also ordered some calamari as well. Ok so homemade is homemade imperfectly cut with skins on, no problem with that. Around 10% not cut properly resulting in soggy potato wedge like forms wasn't pleasant. With just a little extra care and cooking time & slightly better temperature these could of been great, but they weren't. Most were oily and a bit under cooked. I have cooked homemade chips, & yes I could do better! When I pay for stuff I like to experience something better than I can do, but at just $8 for a size serve that would have been $5 at any other takeaway, ol mate will have to lift his game to keep people stopping with his drawcard line! The calamari wasn't aweful but it wasn't the greatest. The Chips 3/10 The Calamari 6/10. The service good. One other thing to consider for the owner is to clean the mould & dust out of the front breeze curtain too coz health department would shut your show down for that! Seriously, you could do this better with just a few more minutes a day caring! You can do it! Coz if you don't the Ebbw Vale strip will be dead & lose business to the new ones popping up in the new industrial estate!
