I love this pub, so much so I don't want too many people to know about it lest it become too popular that I can't get in the door! It's small and easily missed, just off Whiteladies road. Really (naturally) friendly staff, great beers, a lovely warm atmosphere with wooden furniture. A favourite of mine. Yet to eat here however the menu looked good.

Called in for a pint after arriving at Temple Meads. Barman was ontheball, friendly and hyper-efficient, he had my order (in a welcoming manner!) in under a minute. I ordered an ale and a goats cheese sandwich, which came quickly and was very tasty, fresh ingredients nicely presented. Clean, atmospheric place, slightly shouty with the office-lunch-out squad (can't they hold their drink?) but they were happy! As a visitor to Bristol I'd definitely call again.
Cheers.

Delicious roast dinner. Lovely, cosy pub. I had roast chicken, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, greens, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, parsnips. Was so good.

Had the burger. Slightly dry but overall a good burger. Barman was very accommodating. All in all a positive experience. Will be back.

We went for vegetarian Sunday lunch and the Vegetable and Stilton bake was fantastic, I can't wait to go back.
Definitely give it a go. Staff, service and setting was lovely.

Lovely knowledgeable passionate young (to me) folk run this pub.
Great ales and really good food. Sumptuous home made bar snacks (big sausage rolls, scotch eggs and other yummies). Log burner in the winter, secluded little patio garden with distant views of Ashton court. Probably the best roast dinner in the area.
It's about as close as Bristol gets to the feel of a proper English country pub.
(Now forget everything you've read here because we want to keep it a secret for ourselves ;-) )

Tasty dishes at our local. Sat in the garden after a long time. Enjoyed the sunshine, not so much the view... it definitely needs some love out there

Brilliant local pub, especially if you (like me) try to avoid the chains. From other comments I'm getting the impression the place was "tarted up" recently but, as visitors, we thought it had great atmosphere, and was clean and bright without being too "modern." Food was absolutely first-rate - especially the scotch eggs, and staff were friendly, even to us tourists.

Absolute gem of a pub. I always say customer service is everything. The snack choices were incredible. Had a homemade sausage role and a homemade scotch egg and combined with some home made chutney was delicious. Drink choices are good, decor is nice.
