Came across Salt and Malt after visiting the SS Great Britain. This is a little gem great place to stop for a bite to eat. The staff are friendly and welcoming, food was cooked to order delicious crispy battered fish and chips. Would highly recommend

This is probably one of the best seafood restaurants in Bristol in my opinion. The menu has a good mix of classic and quirky seafood dishes which are always nicely prepared and well executed. Outdoor seating is under some stairs so it can feel like you’re eating in the middle of a thoroughfare but then that’s kinda the vibe in Wapping Wharf, and recently they’ve transformed their outdoor seating so it’s in its own container, but this gets roasting in the summer. Book early to get the oysters as they always run out and order the scallops as they’re one of the best things on the menu and they serve the roe with them which doesn’t happen often enough (never understood why chefs remove the roe)! Their cocktails are fire too.

Seafood lovers, look no further! If you’re in Bristol do not liss that amazing spot. Staff is super friendly and the food is great. Really advise the mussles and the grilled cod in garlic butter! Staff is super friendly and accomodating! The view on the harbour is great and we’re next to the M Shed museum.

Great place with amazing food. We had two plates from the menu and one out of the menu. All of them were really good, although a bit pricy.

Had a battered vegan sausage and fries. The taste was good. Would be nice to have more vegetarian options. Affordable prices. Great service.

Delicious fish and chips. Beautiful location. Apple mohito was the only one small disappointment.

Delicious and fresh seafood! Visited during the Bank Holiday weekend (lovely sunny weather :D). Booked a table in advance which I'm glad I did as was quite busy. Staff were friendly and food was delicious. The portions on the a la carte menu are quite small so would suggest trying multiple dishes :). Found the poached oysters very original :)

We popped in to Bristol on a day trip from Somerset and found this restaurant. The Cod and Chips and mush peas were absolutely fantastic, the batter on the fish was great and crispy, the fish was so tasty. Best we have had in a long time.

Still darned good. Now take away only, but still good, and some heart portions too, so be warned! (My original review from 2019 below). I've just had the best fish and chips. Why? Excellent chips, though my enjoyment was of the shrapnel. Technically this could disappoint as a decent portion of chips should include chips, not bits of chips. I like bits of chips as they are extra crunchy. Great flavour too. The fish was brilliantly cooked with a really crisp batter, which I'd not experienced before. It really enhanced the dish and I was very impressed (and I'm renowned for not issuing high accolades). Neither the chips or fish were greasy, both well cooked and presented with smashed style mushy peas with a hint of garlic. One observation - with quality comes smaller portions, so the medium portion may not be best for the hungrier appetite. My boys also thought the same - the portion could be a little bigger. But hey, this leaves room for dessert!

Best fish and chips in Bristol. Must try. Only one issue no one picks up the phone to arrange for booking . Do not go without booking.. can do it online .. but not for parties bigger than 4
