Wonderful, unique cafe. An absolute hidden gem. Retro, ship themed cafe/mini museum experience (even the loo is brilliant and not to be missed). The staff were so welcoming- Karen who served us was so attentive and Bob the owner made us feel so welcome and told us the history of the place and how it’s his retirement passion. Lovely coffee, cakes, afternoon teas and breakfasts. Wonderful atmosphere and artifacts. Not to be missed!!
WOW! We have never been anywhere like this before; UNIQUE! The Chart Room FIRST CLASS Coffee Lounge genuinely lived up to its name. It had us feeling like we were on a transatlantic liner, being treated like royalty (time travelling in the past!)
Fabulous food, all beautifully and creatively presented.
I kept losing my hubby as he wandered around the 'museum' and chatted with the friendly, knowledgeable owner and staff (he was so overcome with enthusiasm that I was surprised he didn't break into song, imagining he was part of the cruise entertainment!)
We will certainly be taking our young (over12yrs) and 'young at heart' guests appreciative of a top quality cuppa (not to mention homemade cakes and scones!) and up for a memorable experience!
Teresa and Ian (known in the Shanty world as 'Nobby Dye')
Found by accident we popped in for a coffe but came out as changed man...when we got in i looked around and was like a cunard whitestar mini museum...then We met Bob the owner who used to work on the QE2.. i have worked on the QM2..so a long chat started!! Got to write my name on the wall too!!( all members who were member of any cunard ships can write their name on the wall!!!)
The place itself is just stunning with so many special features!!!( spoiler allert please go to toilet while you there!!!!)
The food and coffee is fantastic and the whole vibe is eye watering!!!if you like the ocean liner culture started with the Titanic, you must visit!!!!
The most amazing little ‘Davy Jones' Locker’ with lots of one of a kind antiques, ocean liner collectibles and originals.
The coffee lounge has a great selection of cakes (and they’re not stingy with their slices), various brunch items including vegan and vegetarian options and IMO the best coffee in Brixham.
The staff are always friendly and attentive and the owner (Bob) is very knowledgeable, passionate and happy to chat.
The USP for me is that they have a policy of no children under 12, but dogs are welcome, which explains the pleasant atmosphere.
They even have theme related memorabilia under the glass table tops, walls signed by ex mariners and a carefully curated playlist.
P.S. Don’t forget to visit The Engine Room!
It's a drizzly Saturday afternoon, although the morning was refreshingly sunny, for March. This is our first visit here. It's not busy thankfully, as I can see this place getting jammed. Great location, built like a ship, many artifacts for sale, even, if I may say, including food and drink. We'll be back.
What an absolute delight this place is. The most amazing memorabilia adorns the walls. There are hand written memories about former naval officers and cruise staff.
The food is great, perfectly fresh scrumptious sandwiches served with a smile and Bob the owner is very attentive and kind.
Great place
Spent a very relaxing afternoon chilling at The Chart Room First Class Coffee Lounge in Brixham South Devon.
Great ambience, service and FOOD!
Well worth a visit.
lots of memorabilia to look at.
Moist courgette and avocado cake, great atmosphere with friendly staff great service.
I'm visiting from the Netherlands, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this café. I was immersed in the classic English high tea culture, and I absolutely loved it. The service was outstanding, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I highly recommend it.
Had a most delightful lunch here yesterday. A tasty choice of sandwiches, lovely friendly service and all in the most fascinating setting of cruise ship memorabilia. Highly recommend.
