Review Roth Bar & Grill - Bruton

Travelling Gillespie
Great brunch experience at the Roth bar and grill. The portion sizes are not great, so ended up ordering both the muesli and a plate of eggs and tomatoes (which then gets bit pricey as ended up spending about £25+ Each, that’s before coffee :) ) Pros: - enjoy the walk behind the Roth, there is a beautifully laid garden - cross the road and there is a walk way to Bruton. Lovely little village, try incorporating as a walk. As you approach the train station to can get into the woods and open fields. Note: They closed the kitchen at 8:30pm so you need to be early or call and book in advance

The atmosphere was captivating and the staff were welcoming. However, the rib of beef we shared fell short of our expectations, especially for a Michelin-starred establishment. It was dry and just average in taste.

We came for dinner, 2 adults 2 kids. Such a beautiful place and warm welcome. If you are walking from Bruton there is a dedicated footpath. Otherwise plenty of parking. We ate under the outdoor marquee as it was a lovely bright evening. Food was so delicious with a really sophisticated menu. Kids well catered for albeit I'd say for veggie kids you may need to go off piste. I ate excellently with the whipped goats curd and beetroot, then polenta. Lovely staff and quick service. Can't recommend more highly.

What a wonderful meal! We mentioned it was my husband’s 40th this weekend and the lovely guy on the door brought magic to our table. The sharing steak was cooked to perfection. Thanks so much Roth Bar & Grill and Mr Magic! ♥️

Chefs do not have an easy life. Few, if any, think of what goes on in the kitchen before their food arrives to table. Every meal, every plate, every day and every service it should and must be perfect. Yes, they slip up sometimes. I reckon it would be impossible not to. We had issues but the problems were sorted and dealt with in a most professional way by the manager ( the very affable man on the desk). I am sure that on another night everything would have been perfect.

We visited this lovely bar and Grill having first looked at their reviews which seemed outrageously insulting. I felt that we had to check it out and I am so glad that we did. The service from both Hugo and Harrison was fabulous. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was buzzing. (including the dam wasps). It is a little expensive but that's the price you pay for quality. The buttermilk dessert was delicious and thank you for swapping the Raspberries for Strawberries (due to an allergy to Raspberries). Will definitely be returning to try their Sunday lunch menu. Thank you both

Fabulous impromptu stop on the way home from Cornwall. We will definitely come again. The whole roast chicken and pork belly scratching were to die for and service was so warm and friendly.

This place is a bit so hidden gem. An unpretentious venue with terrific food, drinks and service. There is a farm shop next door(open during the day) Alot of the food served is from the same locations which speaks of the quality. Highly recommended but it is popular so I would revolted booking.

Great food Great service Fabulous place to eat. On the pricy side, but it’s high quality.

Fabulous place. The surrounding farm provides all of the meat that is aged and butchered on site. They have a cocktail bar and large outdoor pavilion. Service is great. The food is excellent. My Sirloin was as good as any steak I’ve had, priced at £30. Able to cater for veggie and GF. It’s a beautiful spot with gardens to enjoy with your drink and is part of the Art gallery which is also worth a look in.

Really lovely food and excellent service.

Best spot in the area for food. Bar was lively if not a little small area. Staff all great and helpful. Sunday Roast was perfect and choice of beer (Great gluten free option of Buscombe Gold) Then you can shop in the v v upmarket farm shop or enjoy the art exhibitions. Book if you can! But if you have to wait....do the exhibition or the shop or hit the bar while you wait!

Roth Bar & Grill was well organised and serves a great selection of grilled food which was really well prepared and cooked. We really enjoy the Angus sirloin, spit grilled chicken, butter milk fried chicken and lamb chops. The Durslade Farm wine was not my cup of tea :-) it was way to sour finish for a Chardonnay blend for my taste. Mojito was perfect for a hot day :-)

A nice weekend getaway to grab a coffee and to visit the gallery. Nice and quiet vibe for a coffee break and do some work here.

We met for a lunch time work meeting with 4 people and sat outside in the covered space. The atmosphere and environment was extremely nice especially as it was a sunny day. Our group all had the RBG burger, and we were all blown away by how delicious they were. We will certainly visit again ASAP!

Nice place on the farm in the middle of picturesque hills of Somerset. Good food, nice ambience, lot of art (they have own gallery). During the summer season every Thursday different menu feast outside with grill an communal tables. Local wine.

Great friendly service and affable staff who are ready to help with any requests. Tge food is made from local and home grown produce. The house coffee is outstanding and sold in the farm shop! One tiny little thing, is that there was only one vegetarian option and not gluten free. However having said that, there were some gluten free vegetarian starters and sometimes I do order two vegetarian starters as a main, which I'm sure would not have been a problem if I asked. However trying the aged beef (aged on the premises) was too tempting and so went with the naked burger. Great burger accompanied by excellent chips. They have all varieties of drinks including non-alcoholic. My husband had the Bakewell pudding for dessert and it comes highly recommended.

I was disappointed with my experience of the Roth Bar and Grill, we visited the Bar and Grill to celebrate a Birthday after hearing good things. Firstly, for one of the starters we asked for no hazelnuts, however the dish was still served with hazelnuts. We felt very let down with the pudding – my father bit into a big shard of glass that was inside the dessert, the manager said he wouldn't charge us for this pudding and offered us a complimentary drink, however the mood was dampened at this point. The food was OK but not worth the high price tag in my opinion, a poor experience.

What a fabulous place! We visited for the wedding of Mr & Mrs Day and couldn't have had a nicer experience. Not only was the food delicious but your waiting staff were so lovely. They offered to get my baby to sleep for me & then watch him so that I could enjoy the meal with the other guests. As a mother of 2, that was the best offer I could have asked for as usually I end up eating a cold meal! Thank you for a great evening!

Disappointing experience. We had a table booked for 3pm only to be told it was booked for 3.15pm and we couldn’t be seated earlier. Several options not available on the menu, including wine and some very basics such as ice cream cones for the kids dessert option! The most disappointing was the customer service, not friendly or welcoming in fact some of the staff were outright rude and miserable. It usually helps to engage with the customer rather than acting like you are doing them a favour or would rather be somewhere else. Won’t be recommending the restaurant to others or returning ourselves!

My partner and I got tickets for Goatober, we had a really fun evening, met some great people around the shared table and the talks from the two individuals about the concept of this venture and tanning goat skins were fairly short and very interesting. Venue is unusual in the extreme but in a good way, staff were lovely and most welcoming, food delicious. My only fault with it was that drinks are very pricey, however, it certainly wouldn't put us off going there again, absolutely loved it.

Had my 70th party at Roth’s yesterday, what a fantastic day! Huge thanks to Nell and all the staff, they were brilliant and everything ran so smoothly. The food was delicious, the sun shone - couldn’t have been any better!

Roth Bar and Grill - we loved it! The service was superb - we were early, but the table was ready, and we were able to eat right away. The food wasn't long arriving, and was all fantastic. I loved both the merguez sausages and Moroccan lamb which I had, and my husband was very happy with his pig's head terrine and burger, and said the Cheddar in his cheese board was the best he'd ever had. Knowing we were having local produce, including the Wraxhall Vineyard wine was

I would love to say I enjoyed going here. But each time I have, around 4 times, I have been confronted by a very stuck up and snobbish attitude. The food and ambience was lovely, but really put off by the attitude, one laughed in my face when I asked if they were doing food at 4:30pm. I have a feeling it's the extremely wealthy freaked out by the laid back and simple country folk, like myself. I will give it another go but hope they find the same balance as the Chapel down the road. Peace and love is the only art worth worrying about.

Fantastic place to eat, couldn't fault food or staff. Well done all 😀

Fantastic place & amazing food. The eggs benedict were the best I had ever eaten. Looking forward to visiting again.

Incredible place.......simply gorgeous food! Love love love this place! Especially The Enrichments on a Friday Cocktail night! The place...100%!

Been wanting to go for ages, on reflection I’m afraid it was a case of Emperors New Clothes - nice food, attentive staff, but other local places are better value for money.

Very popular but worth booking in advance. A small lunch menu but a varied choice and beautifully cooked and delicious. We were made to feel welcome and given unobtrusive service.

Dropped in for coffee with Mater. Very helpful and pleasant maitre d'. Excellent cappuccino - best in town. Table service ok. Not sure I would want to eat here - pricing places it against the very best in the south west against which it would probably fall short, imho on food quality, service and price. Ambience is gastro-pub sort of, along with a sort of retro Notting Hill feel from a decade or so ago, if this is what you are looking for!

First time and probably the last. I found a metal nut in my dinner ! Must have dropped off of the grill ! I did get the meal free of charge but it was spoilt !
