Review Dartbridge Inn - Buckfastleigh

We came to this beautiful Gem of a Pub through a recommendation. Well we were not disappointed. Service and food 10/10. Special thanks to Kirsty the Duty Manager for looking after us. We will definitely be back next time we are down your way.

Wonderful experience to stay at the Dart bridge Inn. The staff were excellent and the food lovely. Although the room could do with an upgrade it didn't stop our enjoyment of the venue. I have stopped at many hotels over the years but I can honestly say that the staff were exceptional in their service. More than five stars for me!! Thank you for making our visit memorable

My family came for dinner to celebrate a birthday. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, the ambience was very lovely and our server Beth was very friendly and professional. I 100% recommend for an evening meal.

stopped here on the spur of the moment, we were well impressed with the welcome and service by Beth, our meal was cooked to perfection, with excellent flavours, Matt & Jackson (the chefs) are a credit for producing such good quality food. We shall definitely be visiting again. Well done Dartbridge for your choice of employees, keep up the good work. đź‘Ź

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The service and food were excellent with lots of menu options and reasonably priced. The hotel was let down slightly with the decor which was in need of re-painting. The location was close to Buckfast Town but unfortunately the short distance was not safe to walk as there was no footpath and busy junctions to cross.

This was our third stay and we can’t praise the staff enough, Ryan, Kirsty and the rest of the team are fantastic! Friendly, welcoming and extra hard working! The rooms are lot, clean and well kept, comfy beds and pillows and a great shower! The food as always was delicious and a good choice at breakfast time! The Dartbridge is well situated for visiting Devon’s pretty towns and boy and the moors! We will be back!!

We stayed in a room and ate at the pub as well. Super cute, historic inn with absolutely FANTASTIC service! Ryan was amazing - very helpful and always checking on customers to ensure they were doing okay. The bathrooms were newly remodeled with working shower heads, so that was a plus. The only improvements I can mention were the need for a fan in the rooms when the weather is warm. I don’t know how difficult it would be to install a ceiling fan in such a historic building without causing damage, but perhaps a box fan, or one of those smaller fans you can place on a windowsill or desk.

Not my local, but use this pub regularly as a catch-up spot with a few friends as it's a convenient location for us all to travel to. Have never been disappointed with the food or the beer. Lovely staff lovely food

Great Sunday lunch. Dog friendly and free dog treats. Well looked after, although we didn't win the woman's football world cup! Would call again!

Our last evening in Devon, we always eat out! We had an enjoyable meal, well cooked and presented. Definitely value for money. Staff friendly and efficient.

Didn't have the burger we wanted which had been advertised on facebook in the week so one of our party went for the chicken, when it was brought out to him it was frozen in the middle (if the chicken was kept in the freezer why wasnt the burger) We weren't even offered a little discount for the inconvenience of having to wait for the chicken to be remicrowaved, and for potential food poisoning. The Dartbridge Inn has certainly gone downhill and definately will not recommend or visit this place again.

My partner and I stopped in last night to have a meal. We chose the 'ultimate fish platter' or something with a similar name. The description in the menu sounded yummy, what turned up on our table was anything but yummy. The whole meal was very overcooked, the breaded prawns were so hard we could not pierce them with our forks, nor would our knives dent them. The breaded scampi was of similar toughness and were very 'fishy' in a not pleasant way. The scallop was battered and deep fried to a dark oily walnut and the plaice was skin on and battered and deep fried to a dark oily mess and tasted foul. If you're going to leave skin on plaice it needs to be grilled or pan fried to a crispy seasoned finish, you do not leave it as a soggy mess covered in inedible rock hard batter, it tastes awful. We paid ÂŁ26 for the meal alone, which seemed reasonable, until you saw the mess that arrived. The staff were friendly enough when you had their attention, but we felt a bit forgotten as our waiter seemed to disappear for most of the time we were there. Will we go back? Nope, no, never.

Stopped for lunch on our way somewhere else and it was convenient as just off A38. Wished we hadn't bothered. We waited over 35 minutes for our food, and the waitress dropped both plates on the floor, blaming the hot plates. Accidents happen, but then another 25 minutes later our food finally arrived. My wifes risotto bore no resemblance to any risotto I've ever eaten or cooked before. The sea bass was greasy, for "scallops" read one, undercooked scallop cut in half; and for pea and prawn risotto read three tiny shrimp, a lot of peas and the wrong kind of rice. The whole dish was totally underwhelming and bland, despite the copious amount of salt, pepper and lemon juice I used to make it appetizing ... epic fail. The rice was long grain, not arborio and was dry. No creamy, unctuous texture and no flavour at all. I had belly pork with "champ", read mashed potato with absolutely no hint of either cabbage or spring onions. Complained and was offered complimentary desserts. So, we've had a crap meal, and you've kept us waiting twice as long as I should have, and you think I want more food from you??? When the food finally apeared the same waitresses states ive asked them not to make the plates as hot! So now food served on cold plates when actually all that was required was either trays to serve from or actually plain simple clothes to hold the plates rather than the napkins that were used. Yes this review is very similar to my wife's that's because both me and my wife are chefs and whilst accidents happen poor food followed by weak excuses and responses get short shrift from us. Nope! Not for us Offered a feeble apology, and the waitresses final excuse of "I've not been here very long", what exactly does that have to do with the price of fish (pun intended) - won't be back!!! Also, terrible poky and dark ladies loo!!!! I can't comment on the ladies loos but one final point at no point did a member of your management! Team attempt to approach us with any sort of apologie pretty much failed in my eyes. Wife will sort with head office perhaps some managerial coaching is required just a thought.

Food was ok but service was absolutely shocking, booked table for half 12 and had to wait until 2pm for our food to arrive before we started eating. The drinks order took half an hour to arrive and when it did nobody took our food order. By 2pm when our food did actually arrive we were all starving so within about 10 minutes we had all finished and were ready to order a dessert, yet again we waited ages for our dessert order to be taken. Our desserts finally arrived between 2:45 and 2:55, 10 minutes between the first 2 coming out and the last 2. Bear in mind we have a 2 and a half year old and her ice lolly was the last thing to be brought out, which as you can imagine she was not amused by! Now I can understand having to wait a while for food if the place was busy but there were no more than 20 of us eating in a pub that can clearly cater for triple that figure, or at least they have enough tables and seating for that many people. But waiting more than half an hour for our desserts, none of which had to be warmed up, takes the piss. When we payed the bill we said we were not happy with their service and all the girl at the till said was that they were very busy, no apology or good will gesture offered. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

After two previous visits, thought it ok. But alas another pub falls into the very poor category. Had the rissoto todĂ y, well it was more rice and peas and very tastless. When made complaint was told that's how it comes, and it was one of the most popular dishes . Well obviously those that eat it have no idea about decent food. Won't be going back again, poor tastless chain pub food. Marks out of ten = 0

What a shame ! We popped in for a drink the day before and thought it would be great place to eat after day out !!! Kids burger was so grisly that daughter couldn’t eat it ! Plus the Fillet Steak which was asked for medium was tiny, dry and VERY over cooked !!!! Really disappointed to be honest especially for the price

We are regulars to the Dartbridge inn, often visiting this lovely, family restaurant for lunches and evening meals. Always very good, friendly service from staff and fantastic food. Would highly recommend!

Delightful setting. The staff were reasonably attentive. They did apologise for being understaffed but we didn't really notice. Food came out in decent time and my steak was cooked perfectly rare as I asked for. The chips were devine and the onion rings were to die for. My wife did say her salmon was slightly over cooked hence 4 stars not 5. Would we go again? Yes I think we would. We were only passing so not local so probably won't but you never know.

Beautifully cooked food, we had the lamb, the fillet steak, hunters chicken and black and blue burger, all delicious. Service was great too, smashing!

Great stay at the Dartbridge Inn, if your looking for somewhere to stay in Devon I would highly recommend staying here. Excellent value for money, great accommodation, good food and friendly service. Thanks to all the staff and managers...we’ll definitely be back again next year.

Lovely pub setting, average service, understaffed and need lesson in customer service skills. Pre ordered food two weeks ago, only to be told on arrival they don't have what we ordered and the menu changed and the price as increased by about ÂŁ3.50 pp. 22 of us will be taking our monthly custom elsewhere!
