Luckily managed to get a table for lunch when we dropped in for a pint. Really friendly service, and the roasts were excellent (really good attention to detail such as the cabbage and cauli). We came for the hike towards the sand dunes which was absolutely amazing. With the tides coming and going it was a birdwatchers paradise even before you actually reach the beach.
We had some dinner afterwards at Hero, great food and nice atmosphere.

Four of us called in for a late lunch and were fitted in. Lovely food and beer, great after a breezy mornings walk! Highly recommended! (The 6oz rump steak in a ciabatta was perfect, altho the very generous sticky toffee pudding was a bit overcooked for my liking)
We came for dinner this evening and were not disappointed. The service, atmosphere, food and drinks were absolutely spot on! The team were really helpful and friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening and dinner.

They squeezed us in for lunch on busy Good Friday and we enjoyed a couple of their signature sandwiches washed down w. a couple of pints of Ghost Ship

Driven past this place so many times and never stopped. Wish we had years ago. Great menu, loads of outside seating. Menu is good and some unusual dishes. Outside ordering station. Friendly staff and I highly recommend

Fantastic lunch on Friday 12th Jan. A warm and contemporary feel with big tables and chairs so the dogs could also be comfortable. The food was excellent and the staff really made the whole experience wonderful. Highly recommend and will be back soon. Gavin. Cirencester
What a find!...on holiday in the area we were looking for somewhere for lunch and how lucky we were to find The Hero named after Admiral Nelson who was born nearby. A truly traditional pub with a lively atmosphere, good food, excellent beer and welcoming service. Mid range pricing but great value
Excellent place to stay. Very helpful staff. Lovely pub with good food (awesome breakfast!). Our dog was made very welcome. Highly recommended.
