Great place for a fly by, Sunday lunch or dinner.
Great ambiance. Friendly service, family run. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here. We're not local and to be honest based on the website, name and menu we had assumed it was more of a cosy tavern type place which it isn't as is definitely more of a bright restaurant. Food was good though and still a nice looking space.

Wonderful local Family run Tavern. A warm atmosphere, friendly service and delicious meals served everyday of the week. Take advantage of their special offers during the week. Sunday Roasts are really enjoyable, finished off with a dessert. Booking essential.

Brilliant food, super friendly and quick service. Well priced and generous portions. Will definitely be returning.

Went on Father's Day and it was pretty busy. I would recommend making a reservation if you plan on a Sunday Roast, regardless if its a holiday. Food was good, wine selection could be better. Lousy acoustics and it being busy made for a very loud atmosphere. Service was excellent, but their are better roasts in town.

Friendly staff and owner. Consistency Great food. This isn’t a negative at all if you haven’t booked for Sunday lunch call ahead as it’s always rammed.
Lovely owner and staff family members. You’ll definitely not be disappointed on whatever day you turn up 10/10

First time I've eaten here and call me shallow, but I always judge a place like this on their burgers...... and
i have to say, quite possibly one of the best burgers I've ever had. And I've had a lot of burgers at a lot of places!! The St John was bordering perfection in my eyes and their chicken burger was an absolute treat!!!
Like I said, this was my first visit as I've not been to Bury St Edmunds for 20+ years but I shall be making this trip again to try something else on the mouth watering menu.

Our experience here on Thursday 26th August was fantastic. The food was delicious (definitely get the halloumi fries and thank me later).
There was a small issue with our order, and we were totally blaming ourselves, but the staff were so so good at sorting it. Their service was amazing.
We required wheelchair access too and they were super accomodating and helpful.
We enjoyed it so much we booked a table for the following night, which was equally as good a meal.
Thank you all.

Went there with a group of 7 and was all individually made to feel welcome. Extremely accommodating and friendly. The cocktails were superb and the food was melt in your mouth delicious. The best customer service in bury by far. If you like live music they also have bands play which is a nice way to cap off the evening. 100% going there again and have recommended to all my other friends.

We didn't eat this time but like to do the pizza night. Its good value. Drinks prices are pretty much the same as other venues in town. Great atmosphere and gets busy at weekends

Great food but disgusted to be charged £1 for BBQ sauce in a little pot. Wasn't told by the waitress and the charge wasn't explained on the menu either. At £14.75 for a burger, I'm sure they could throw in a sauce sachet for free - even a greasy spoon caff give you free sauce

Plentiful Sunday lunch....piping hot, good choice of vegetables ( had to add the cauliflower cheese which was lovely ). Both beef and chicken dinners were tender and flavoursome and extra gravy provided was nice touch. Have to say, service was very good and, without exception, given with a smile. The Tavern certainly provides good food in a modern, airy premises.

Great vegan options, sides a little pricy but nothing extortionate

Popped in for an impromptu lunch with wife and kids yesterday. Really impressed by this place! Had a nice feel, friendly staff, very good food at decent value. Nice selection of beer and wine too.
Was disappointed when Benson Blake's closed, as the Snug was nothing special...so more than happy with the latest incarnation! Plan to return soon to test out the roast.

Really excellent food. Fresh and interesting flavours (try the baked yogurt and thank me later). The service is the best I've ever experienced in Bury with an extremely friendly and knowledgeable waiter. Service from the kitchen could have been a little faster, but the food was definitely worth the wait.

Fantastic local pub/bar/restaurant. Great staff and owners. Definitely worth a visit if in town.

Such a lovely atmosphere and so much nicer than the previous place! Had a great range of vegan options, I had the Moving Mountains burger which was just delicious and all the portions were very generous so worth the price. All topped off by our server who couldn't have been nicer!
Only thing to note as a vegan is the chilli, including that on the loaded fries, is made with dessicated coconut as the meat replacement. Tasted very nice but worth noting if you're craving a hearty bean chilli.

The staff went above and beyond to make our family meal of 10 people enormously welcome and well looked after. The food was delicious, the beer great and the atmosphere was splendid. Thankyou The Tavern.

Called to book and was told they full tonight but if passing pop in as there may be a cancellation. Sure enough Star managed to squeeze us in. Our first time eating here was a fabulous experience. Great food, great price. Lovely clean airy venue and super friendly staff. Thanks Star we will be back.
