Best chip shop in Bury..best fish+chips for miles..Why havent they got any awards?
Brilliant staff+owners just a shame I'm on a restricted diet to loose some weight but MY GOD they was heavenly...if there's a queue out the door that tells you how good the food is!
Saw this place pop up on Facebook tonight and decided to drive over from Walmersley area in a hope of finding a good English chippy that did English curry, OMG I'm sooo glad I did. Food is gorgeous, a proper good old English chippy, chips were cooked properly not the soggy white things a lot of chips throw out nowadays. Fish was gorgeous, everything was just brilliant and we have def found our new regular chippy, worth the drive!

Excellent food lovely, friendly staff the children loved their chip lollies! All our food was amazing, the nuggets were huge and my children all loved them. My little boy said that the man and 2 ladies do super food! I had the special which was chicken in tarragon and cider sauce it was beautiful. We'll be back. Thank you οΏ½

Best chippy in bury. The owners are a lovely friendly couple,the guy always gives little kids two big chips on a wooden fork. My grandson loves going just for that.

Had the Friday special tonight, Homemade Meat n Potatoe Pie, chips and gravy, it was delicious, two clean plates, and a bargain, delicious.

Best chippy ive been to with lots of choice and special meals on offer.
Working in the area today and came across this place, can honestly say it was excellent π the fish was cooked to perfection not too much batter on either, the peas was bang on not too dry chips cooked perfect. Would recommend for a chippy dinner/tea π
What a find this place was just working in the area. Had a pea and onion fritter that was delicious also tried the battered black pudding this was also delicious. The staff were so friendly and a good laugh will definitely be returning
First time at Wood Street Chippy - all decked out in Halloween stuff. Staff all really welcoming and gave my son some chips while we were waiting for them to cook the fish from fresh. Great quality and cleans plates all round.

Fish skewer, onion rings, mushy peas, fantastic chips lovely light and fluffy no grease.
Real Whitby Scampi too.
Already planning next trip.
Hubby saw they did home made cheese n onion pie so he has already choosen next trip.

Just learned why this shop has been closed. I'm so sorry for your loss. It looks like one of the cleanest chip shops in the area, and I cant wait to try it.
I have been calling here for 15 years since Gordon and Sara took over and have never had a bad meal. the pea fritters and smoked sausage are to die for! best chippy in Bury by a mile!

The friendliest staff I have ever come across! Spotlessly clean premises and the food was amazing. The chips were not at all greasy and you could tell that the oil used was fresh. The fish was amazing, really meaty and lots of flavour with just the right amount of batter on too.
The menu looks great with lots of things on I will be trying in the near future, Haggis was on the specials the day I went in so will be giving that a go sometime soon.
Great prices too, would have bought more if I could have used my card but unfortunately they only take cash and it was my first visit so I was unaware.
Looking forward to my next visit!
Great chips, fish and gravy. I've been going to this chippy for as long as I can remember. Well worth your time to pop in for some food, just hope you catch it when it isn't queuing out the door, but that's not very often πππ

Been coming here for years woodstreet IS THE BEST CHIPPY AROUND always happy there and kids always get chips on a stick while waiting, highly recommend fish and chips here food is always nice fresh and what you ask for
