This is the best Chinese in town! The food is always made fresh, will accommodate the amount of spiciness, and the staff is very friendly. My favorite is the Sea Spicy Chicken. Yet, I have never had a dish here that I didn't like.
I went in because I miss the food from Shanghai. I didn't expect much as lots of restaurants name themselves sth but are not necessarily related. I ordered a few Shanghai dishes and they didn't disappoint. I plan to try a couple more dishes and will update this review after more attempts.
We had eight assorted small dishes and it was a very pleasant experience. The food had a strong Shanghai flare, light and delicately flavoured. The place is clean, but could do with a bit tidying up to feel more welcoming. I'm sure it would have been a lot better patronised if done. Our favourites are the salted duck and the steamed chicken.
Soup dumplings were great. Place is cozy and staffs were very nice.
The hubs and I ate dinner here our first night in Cambridge. It was very clean and the food came out hot, fresh and delicious. I had the soup dumplings and he got the sweet and sour chicken. We loved it all! The staff was very kind and quite funny.
I had the Chinese dishes here for almost two years now. They are amazing!!!! Healthy, fresh, beautiful, full of nutrients and incredibly tasty!!! The woman who own the shop is came from Shanghai and she really know about traditional Shanghai food and love her job so much! I really love this restaurant because every time I came here, I felt like go back to my home.
Despite restrictions, we still had a wonderful time here. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had the mapo tofu, squid and broccoli, lamb and chili, Singapore vermicelli noodles. All great and we will be coming back again!
Decoration is old but unlike some reviews suggest, the restaurant itself is clean and the staff are probably the friendliest of any restaurant I have been to in the UK so far. They do make you feel comfortable in a family setting which makes the whole experience even better. I have been to Chinese restaurants before but none of them had the same homemade taste that I got at this one. I was truly impressed. When 90% of restaurants are now part of chain restaurants which sell mainstream meals for a ridiculous price, this restaurant truly stands out for its quality of service and food, as well as for the price. Highly recommended and planning on returning (very) soon.
I've been coming here quite a long time, this restaurant really got me interested in Chinese food. It's very traditional style Chinese food rather than "British Chinese" so it was a pleasant change from many of the Chinese restaurants I'd been to previously. There is a varied menu with plenty of choice. I'm a fan of spicy food and there are plenty of great options here, in particular the Sea Spicy dishes are great, and the Hunan style prawns are amazing. That said I've sampled many of the dishes on the menu and have only had good experiences. It's a fairly small restaurant so there's no problem getting hold of a waiter, I've never had to wait long to place an order or get the bill. Prices are very affordable and whether eating alone or with a group you can have a feast at a very reasonable price. It's a family run restaurant (as the name suggests!) and it shows, the staff are very friendly and the place seems to have a loyal following of regulars as I often see familiar faces when I visit here.
I love this place, the people who work here are so friendly and helpful when we are unsure about what to order. Seeing the manager there with an apron on isn't a rare sight, she is always there working hard and making sure that the customers are happy. My friend and I were having problems deciding on what to have and the manager came over and gave us some spectacular advice! We ordered an egg dish, along with some other dishes which were superb, that neither of us had heard of and it absolutely blew us away! The place could be refurbished a bit but it still looks clean and hygienic which is what matters besides the delicious food! The food, in my opinion, is as authentic and tradition as it's going to get in Europe unless you ship food into the EU from China or something bizarre like that! I would definitely recommend going there if you're looking for some quality mainland Chinese food or are a foreigner/student who's looking for some dishes are close to home!
A simple but not bad experience. Portions are rather big, so we even took them away to finish later.
We had chicken sweet and sour, and home made aubergines. Pretty good.
