Over the past 3 years my previously dull lunchtimes have been brightened by this place. The food is fresh everyday and is prepared in front on you whilst you wait. The owners (Sam and Gaz) clearly spend a lot of time developing their menu and that really shows through in their delicious lunch options. Whilst the baguettes (choice of two breads) are lovely, their salad bowls offer a healthier alternative. Their cakes (I recommend the flapjack and the rice crispy cake) are to die for. The owners and staff are all lovely and are always keen to share a joke or two. Once you’ve eaten here, you won’t go anywhere else.
Theres a reason theres always a queue. Gaz and Sam are sandwich geniuses. Theres not a better takeaway lunch option in the city. Personally I like a veggie 10 on brown (brie, grape and cranberry salad) but literally everything on the menu is 👌 take cash, no card machine.
The freshly prepared baguette I had today was lovely. The smoked salmon was amazing! I’ll definitely be back again :)
What a place! Just what we were looking for at lunch time. Amazing range of fillings, couldn’t resist the Indian special. Fantastic!
For a lovely lunchtime sandwich, its hard to beat. Great combinations, fresh ingredients and at a good and fair price. They do specials that change periodically, and I love trying them. Don't have a favourite as its all good. My only complaint would be that you always have to queue! That alone, should tell you how well regarded it is by people.
Just the best sandwich in Cardiff. Amazing service , making sure we choose something we’d enjoy. Interstellar choice of baguettes. . Will return and return I’m sure
The reason there is a queue, and we dont mind waiting, is becasue the food is just so good. you cant get bored with the selection as there are always new options and specials to try. The fillings are tasty, fresh and generous. Working in the city centre, this place is a gem and we all look forward to lunch now. Their salads and baguettes are delicious. This week i didnt have cash and they dont take cards - this was handled so well by the owners, who made a real joke of it. I wasnt asked to go and get cash and queue again, i was told not to worry and to bring money next time i was in. I didnt even have to return the same day. How awesome is that?! service at its best. I just hope it doesnt get too popular as it is so good right now.
The friendly owners made our trip to Cardiff! On recommendation from a local we popped along for a bite for lunch. Fresh baguettes filled with scrumptious fillings, all for a very reasonable price! Go for the specials on the board is my top tip - you wont be disappointed.
There’s always a queue here, but for good reason. Food is so tasty and there are so many options to choose from and the food is fresh. They also do cake!
I LOVED my baguette from here. Fresh bread, generous fillings and fantastic ingredients combo. I had a festive special from the board, but it was a tough pick as so many options looked amazing! Perfect for my train ride home after a long day's christmas shopping. Such genuinely friendly service as well (and thank you for being patient whilst I picked what I wanted!). Looking forward to another visit next time I'm in Cardiff!
New to Cardiff ,fresh was recommended by a foodie friend . It did not disappoint, there was a line outside meaning a couple of minutes wait, but well worth it. The chap taking the orders was welcoming with a genuine greeting and smile. The menu list was amazing putting much larger outlets to shame, further you can mix and match the ingredients to personalise your own takeaway. Fresh was extremely busy but the staff found time to pass a few pleasantries with each and every customer. A visit to fresh was altogether a most enjoyable experience .
Called in today and had No.9 Pastrami, swiss cheese, mustard, dill pickle, salad and thousand island dressing. Tastiest baguette ever - I'd never have put thousand island dressing on it but it really worked! Lovely. We'll be back to try everything else.
The baguettes are nice and the rotating specials are usually good as are the cakes. The standard menu is not very exciting as it's mostly a combination of 10 ingredients. The really long queues at lunch time, lack of card facilities and cramped location really let it down. The prices are ok but don't really offer any deals. On balance I don't enjoy the experience, catch them when they're not busy and the specials are worth it.
Not sure where to start really... service or food? Incredible 5* service from Fresh, every single visit. Sam & Gareth are the lovliest, most friendly people that you will have serve you your lunch in the City... fact! The food is SO so tasty, whether you choose one of their salads, paninis or baguettes. You won’t find flavours like it anywhere else in Cardiff... honestly! Once you’ve been there for lunch, you’ll never want to go anywhere else... promise!! Service & incredibly tasty food, with a smile! 😁
I only go occasionally as a treat as I try not to eat bread. Unfortunately the first flavour I tried has stopped me venturing to other options garlic mayo, chorizo and chicken baguette is the bomb
Fresh - It speaks for itself really - friendly and welcoming staff - great food and customer service for a great price too! I stumbled across this place through some colleagues at work about a year ago and have never looked back! The Indian Special on a Friday has become an office ritual and I wouldn't be without my "Buy-In-Friday" now. The whole menu is well thought out and brilliant tasting. Highly recommend the brownies!! Especially the one with the Fredo Frog!!

Soooo so so good- you may have to que, but let me tell you, it’s worth the wait! So delicious. I always get my favourite which is a no 15. I’m gunna have to change it up at some point though lol!
you may have to queue but believe me your taste buds will be thanking you later, also try the cakes, any of them, they are Lush!!

UNBELIEVABLE, I only discovered fresh around 3/4 weeks ago and I have been going every day for my lunch, the food is exceptional, tasty, so FRESH! It’s like a explosion of flavours in your mouth, the couple who own the place are so lovely they will be sure to brighten up your day, 10/10 no other place compares in Cardiff for your lunch you will not be disappointed!
