"Chicken curry off the bone and chips" should be adopted as a Welsh national dish. Superb chippy.

Dorothy’s Cardiff 1953 -establishment is a legendary place to relish some chicken curry and chips 🍟
And what if you have late night cravings 🤨
Or been partying all night and want to relish something good
Yes Dorothy’s at Cardiff bay is the right place you should head to - they are open from 1 pm to morning 4 am
And trust me was surprised to see the rush at that odd hour 3 am in the morning we had to stand in que
And finally ordered their signature dish chicken curry with chips 🍟 🍛
It’s sheer pleasure and finger licking good
The chicken curry has mild spices and is super hot then comes the chicken pieces they just fall off the bone and cooked to perfection
The chips are crisp and fresh
Apt combo it is!
They have some delectable fish chips and just chicken curry too 😍✅
Late night cravings sorted 😍😇

Tip off portions are huge so try fish curry and chips once
Then try the fish chips as well
Which are palatable
And not to forget try their hotdogs which are sheer bliss
Chicken curry and chips will cost you 5.6 pounds which is quite reasonable and not heavy on the pocket
Service-4/5
The staff are warm and polite
The service is quick too
Grab it and go

Ambiance - 3/5
It’s just a take away majorly
And it’s a old place having it’s own charm
Loved the place

VFM -4.5/5
The prices are quite reasonable and the food is delicious
So on the whole the food is worth a try
And the service is quick too
Do pay a visit if you are in mood to relish some good chicken curry and chips 😍

Great spot for late night eats. we googled reviews on where to eat late night in Cardiff, this is the first place that popped up after 11 PM. It did not disappoint. There’s a very manageable lineup outside, and you get your order in, in under 10 minutes. We were here with our kids. Our youngest had the sausage and chips , our teenager had the chicken curry and chips, my wife and I split a cod in a box - which was a very large, serving of freshly fried cod, with chips, and mushy peas. We decided to eat in. The dine in spot is very basic. But the food was very good, especially for the price. The staff were very hospitable, knowledgable about allergies, and accommodated us in, and explain a little bit about the 70 year history of the restaurant - especially Tanya. She was so great at taking care of us, checking in on if we needed anything, and making sure the food was good. Highly recommended. Great spot! Great people!

I had to try out the gravy and chips. Everybody seemed to coming out of the pubs and heading for here. Dry long drunk queue but worth the wait. It was only gravy and chips but was it was tasty

Quite possibly the best chip shop I've ever been to! Their chips are great on their own but if you are fancying something more the chicken curry and chips is to die for. The chip shop has a small eat in area if you don't fancy take away, both are fantastic.

We were looking to get some carbs on board prior to the Prodigy gig in Cardiff, some 'fat of the land' you could say . Picked Dorothy's at random, with some trepidation but it was quite busy 'everybody was in the place'. No need to have worried, I could 'breath' easy. Freshly cooked chips that were up there with the best, a generous portion (not quite '3 kilos') a battered jumbo sausage with no gristly bits and a good classic flavour with decent batter. The coup de gras though was the curry sauce, absolute 'serial thrilla', much more tasty than the usual pale yellow chip shop gloopy 'poison' and with a perfect consistency. We ate inside, not 'out of space' it was very clean and the staff were friendly and polite, definately not 'voodoo people'. I recommend a visit and give Dorothy's 'your love' . The gig was great by the way.

It's fish 'n chips and fish 'n chips can't fail to please if it's done properly, using fresh fish, proper spuds, and l the right consistency of batter, cooked in the best frying oil at the right temperature. Well Dorothy's has certainly got it right because I couldn't fault it, and the chunk of fish was so big I had to ask for a doggy bag. So full marks on that, and for the cosy dine-in area in which to enjoy it. However, Dorothy's is typical of 99% fish bars in Cardiff in that the only fish in the sea is cod, which is boring. Also, if tables and chairs are there for dining in, why not proper crockery and real cutlery and a glass for your drink instead of disposable paper and plastic. If they gave me a small discount. I'd happily wash my own dishes. So good but not exceptionally so, which misses the mark, unfortunately.

Fresh food on a busy match day with hundreds of customers, I was in and out with 15 people in my group in 10 mins, food was hot and delicious, the fish was massive, the sausages was cooked to perfection the rissoles where huge, and they was all delicious. I can recommend this place highly. Food seems a little pricey but so is everything at the moment, so they wasn’t too expensive for what you get I think it’s a fair price for great service and great food.
