Me and my friend popped in for a light lunch, after a long walk. It was lovely! The brioche buns were so soft and the egg was cooked to perfection. Lovely staff especially the lady who serve us, i believe her name was Kira. Besides the great company, the coffee was great. I most definitely would recommend to a friend !! Thank you

Really nice lunch of avocado toast (ve) with delicious Miso butter. Surprising and scrumptious. Cake and coffee too. And when I expressed that I found the coffee not quite to my taste, I was immediately made a replacement which was lovely. The service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was warm and cheerful. I arrived just before it got quite busy so I had a lovely seat in the window with happy people coming in and out. Altogether a lovely lunch. Thanks!

Visited Waterloo tea rooms for lunch and a drink. There was plenty on seating on arrival but it got busy around prime lunch time. Staff we very welcoming and were happy to help me you select a 'posh' tea. Ordered chicken in a ciabatta it was fresh and very delicious, reasonably priced. Also ordered coffee here that was also very well presented and tasted great. Would recommend to visit here for a drink or for a meal. Parking out side is free and there is a park that is a pleasant walk.

In the post office I said to myself ‘all I need now is a cup of tea.’ Lo & behold this understated cafe is right next door! Virtual perfection as you can see. A slice of lemon, leaf tea in a pot, an egg timer for the perfect brew & a piece of polenta cake!

I usually go to the one on town but had some errands at this side of Cardiff so thought I'd drop in and see how this one faired. Glad to say that it's as good as the other sites and had a lovely lunch and service to match.
Plenty of parking nearby too (around the park).

Great sandwich (I'm not a vegan, but loved the vegan mushroom on brioche bun) and everyone did great with COVID social distancing. Great spot near the park.

Nice cosy tea room on the Waterloo Gardens and I am happy to return here when I am in the area again.

Had a lovely cream tea this afternoon my Daughters treated us I've had cream teas before . But this really this was the best . Lovely cake, sandwiches really fresh.
There was fruit and a small salad as well. Scones where gorgeous lovely jam and cream couldn't eat it all they gave us little box's to take cakes home.

Highly recommend, very friendly, they give NHS discount if you ask nicely ☺️ and a huge selection of lush teas. We had the butterfly pea London fog, an oat flat white and a buttermilk chicken burger and it was all rather yummy and nicely presented.

For me the customer service won it. Extremely helpful staff. Took their time with our order. Luckily got the place outside in sun. In short, refreshing tea, great food and lovely sunshine... What else I could ask for??? Hats off...

Always busy, really friendly staff and I don't find it as expensive as most other coffee/tea rooms. Fantastic location aswell

Coffee here is some of the best in the area and the grub is if really good quality. The staff are a game of 2 halves. The lads can be a bit finnicky and slow while the lasses are efficient and professional. This isn't gender stereotyping, just my experience of being a regular customer here. Both are friendly and make good coffee. Overall, place comes highly recommended.

I love the Waterloo tea chain of tearooms for the wide variety of teas and the good choice of cakes available including vegan and gluten free options, the staff are always very lovely too and know a wide range about the teas. I'd rate the Waterloo Gardens tearoom three stars as it's quite cramped in comparison with the city centre shop and is often full of mums and buggies, with toddlers running around barefooted making a lot of noise, which is fine if you're a mum but not great if you just want a chilled out cuppa away from baby noise. It could do with a bit more space as it's a very popular teashop.

We booked afternoon tea and I requested no salmon. ..we waited 30mins for the food and when it arrived salmon sandwiches were included so we had another wait while these were replaced..the scones were burned and inedible the coconut mango cake was very dry..and the sandwich were average. ..very disappointed. .definitely won't go again

Went to Waterloo cyncoed today. Had afternoon tea booked for 3oclock. Arrived and got welcomed nicely. Was offered to choose cake from a variety of 3?? I’m sure branch in Penylan has double or triple that. Was told to take a seat and they’ll take orders for tea shortly. No one acknowledged us until 3:20 when I physically had to go up and call someone to the table. The lady apologised for being busy (although there was only two other occupied tables) and took out orders for tea. Another 15 mins went by and we almost walked out but our teas came out just then. We ordered chai tea and this came out watery with very little flavour so was returned for another. By now it’s been 45 mins and we’ve just about got our teas. Service was abysmal. Not once did anyone attend to us and ask us if things were ok. The afternoon sandwiches and cakes had arrived and the quality of food was shocking. The sandwiches had very very little filling and tasted of nothing. The chicken sandwich had a wafer thing slice of chicken and a leaf, and literally did taste of nothing. The scones fell apart and there was definitely something wrong with the clotted cream. We had two pots and both were granular and curdled. We called the lady over and she said they only have one pot and it was normal to look like that, however said she wud investigate. She took the cream into the kitchen and cake back 5 Mins later with fresh cream. This now looked like the real thing! She said (regarding the first lot she brought out) oh this looks like the same thing! Was that a joke?! Her sarcastic comment was shocking given how bad the food and service had already been up till now! We didn’t finish our afternoon and decided to leave. We spoke to a taller gentleman with curly hair and said we weren’t happy with the service or food and wasn’t happy to pay the full bill. He got stroppy with us and accused us of lying! He said he’ll then ask the girl that served us. He came back in a huff and puff and said fine I’ll give u 10% off. Shockingly unbelievable. We were trying to talk to him regarding how we always go to the other branch and it’s never been like that and he just got angry and was smacking the tills away hurrying us out. Didn’t acknowledge anything we said and his apology was pathetic. Half hearted. I genuinely can’t explain how bad it was and further shocked no one came to acknowledge our complaint. In fact there was hardly on the shop floor?! I’m sorry but we bought 4 afternoon teas and to pay £50 for that is just unreasonable. I’ve always loved going to Waterloo tea but after this I don’t know if I will again. Just seems like there’s no care in the world with these lot

What a little gem. We had afternoon tea here, so many different teas and coffees to choose from, not to mention the range of cake. Penny our waitress was brilliant her passion for the food and drink was infectious. Not only excellent food and drink but excellent staff too - which can make or break your experience. If you go to Cardiff make sure to visit this place for an afternoon tea.

I booked afternoon tea for 4 people . One person is a vegetarian, one person has allergies so asked for plain chicken. When we arrived for 3pm reservation, the automatically put a sign on saying table booked for 4.30. Immediately felt rushed. The vegetarian sandwiches were placed next to the chicken sandwiches . Not impressed!
The white bread felt stale. We advised the staff. The chicken tasted cheap and what felt out of a tin. The rest of the sandwiches on brown bread tasted lovely though.. The cakes were lovely. The preserve not sure if it supposed to be homemade but we saw the waiter with "Hartleys jam"
They had a good selection of teas .
Scones lovely . The chocolate and avocado cake would recommend.
I wouldn't rush back for afternoon tea but will return as there plenty of teas to choose from .

Very welcoming and the food is lush as always. I recommend to anyone.

This is a fantastic find for any tea drinker, I had a coffee drinker with me and he was very surprised by the blends of coffee

Served by a really friendly guy who made a great recommendation on tea. Food was lovely and I tried some things I wouldn't have otherwise. Would definitely go again

Bit chaotic. Long wait for food. Did not have same menu's as the town & penarth ones so limited choice. Food not hot. Have been here before and no issues so not sure what the problem was before this weekend.
