It's hard to find a traditional pub that appeals to both men and women. The Old Market Tavern near The Hayes, Cardiff, is one such pub.
Since it's opening in December last year, this pub, from the Nicholson pub brand, has been busy building it's reputation as the place to go for real ales, and great pub classics with an up-to-date modern twist...
I love the lunch and drink offer. Plenty of variety. Generous portions. My family had the 7oz# Gammon steak, fish & chips and the jerk chicken flatbread. The cucumber and mint dressing was gorgeous and the sweet chipotle chili jam was tasty. We did have to buy a second drink each because of the wait but that was fine. There is always tiny fruit flies but that's the only bad thing. I also didn't like that it was busy but that's not O'Neill's fault and it was the lunch rush and a bank holiday.

Really nice place on the main area of Cardiff, would recommend this to anyone that visits the area. The service was really good too and helped us out. Neil and Deian were really helpful and friendly.
The place is awesome! Great food for a fair price! We had 3 tapas for £ 13 and a 16 oz rump steak for £ 13,95 for 2 adults and a 10 year old child. Service was impeccable! The food was done really fast and everything was delicious.
Lovely pints, nice food and tidy atmosphere. Good lunchtime deals also.
Good food and nice staff, have enjoyed the wraps, pizzas and curries here and all reasonably priced. Seem to have a lot of events on, I only visit for lunch but may have to try the comedy night one evening.
Delicious food, on an authentic location - defenitely must try if you want to taste some classic English food!
