Always awesome food! Lovely desserts and Takoyaki will forever be my favourite food! We were served by a lady called Elle who was really wonderful and accommodating for my vegan friend!
School break treat yesterday, we both loved it, all staff very helpful and patient explaining everything to us. Easy guide menu, great to see my daughter happily trying different food that we either chose from conveyor or ordered and arrived quickly. Thank you
So I am in the area on a Thursday and I am waiting until 21:00 for the Black Friday sales to begin so I can save £20 on something.
I have an hour to burn and I haven't had lunch so after some ambivalence me and my partner decided to go to Yo Sushi!
We were immediately greeted by a very friendly server who gave us a table. It had been a while since I was last at a Yo Sushi so I asked for a recap on how it works. She was very attentive and helpful throughout the whole visit.
The selection was incredible and the fact you could order anything off the menu was a load off my mind as I was worried I may not find what I like.
Regardless of that you may find yourself staring at every bowl that passes you wondering if you want it, or simply snatching off the belt because you haven't seen that one before.
After a while the colours seem to fade into a blur and you're gorging yourself on delicious Sushi without a care in the world.
Then you realise it's time to tote up the bill... As you stare at 3 stacks of bowls of varied colours you begin to wonder what you have done...
I went in there to kill an hour and save £20... My bill came to £75...
No regrets
Yo Sushi - Making It perfectly acceptable for you to sit at a buffet, alone, since 1997.
For those who are new to the world of Sushi it's pretty simple - Sit. Take. Eat. Pay. The plates are even coloured coordinated - Six colours, six prices. From £1.90 to £5.00. Leave your plates at your side and they'll be totalled up at the end.
Now if like me you don't like fishy-fish don't rule out Yo Sushi just yet. There are still a range of dishes available that won't make you think of 'Finding Nemo'
My favourites:
Inari Pockets -
Sweet Soy Bean Curd Pocket with Rice.
Duck Gyoza -
Duck Dumplings, Hoisin Sauce.
Chicken Gyoza -
Chicken Dumplings with Soy and Vinegar Sauce.
Chicken Katsu -
Chicken Katsu, Rice, Mild Curry Sauce and Red Ginger.
Each of the above contain less than 120 calories!
*Tip: Visit on a Monday and enjoy almost ALL dishes for just £2.50.
Always been a fan, but they have even upped their game recently. Somehow the food tasted fresher than usual, they have introduced new items to the menu (The popcorn shrimp in particular was divine!!!!), and the service was amazing.
Lovely place, calm and relaxing atmosphere. Chefs make my food how i like it (more spice). Only downfall is you have to keep on top of what you ordering as the prices are a little steep. But they do have offers on through the week, like Blue Mondays for example.
I must admit that I'm a sushi novice and Yo! Sushi is the only sushi restaurant I've ever been to so that may mean that I have a different opinion to those with more experience of sushi restairants but Yo! Sushi makes me happy. It's a happy place to be, the colours are bright, the food is fun and the service (having a call button on your table) just adds to the sense of fun.
I recently went with three other people on a Monday night when the Blue Mondays promotion was running, every plate from the belt is priced at £2.40, bargain! I managed to get my fill and only spent £13. We only had to wait ten minutes to be seated but I take it being so busy as a good thing, this also meant that the belt was constantly being refreshed which can only be a good thing when it comes to sushi.
My friends and I are already planning our next trip, I need my next fix of Pumpkin Korroke!
I was a loyal Zushi fan for years and got my sushi fix from there without even questioning that there might be somewhere else in town but having tried Yo! Sushi elsewhere I knew I had to give the Cardiff one a go.
There are some things I really like about Yo!
1) The little call button which makes you feel like you're on a plane calling over an air hostess.
2) The little personal water tap.
3) The fact that it's always busy.
My friend once advised me that you should always visit a conveyor belt sushi place when it's busy because they will be constantly re stocking the belt and therefore the food will be fresher. So there's a little bit of wisdom for you.
The choice of dishes is pretty good and it might not be authentic Japanese cuisine but it is tasty and satisfying.
Price wise it's very good. My friend and I vowed to 'spend as much as possible on sushi' but the bill only came to £30 and we were stuffed.
Providing shoppers with an alternative to mainstream and often generic meals, Yo Sushi is an innovative new way to eat, even by Sushi standards. Even if you're a Sushi novice, the system is fairly self explanatory. Dishes circle the large bar on a conveyor belt, each dish fitting into one of three colour bands which relate to prices. Dishes start at prices from as low as £1.70 to as high as £5. WIth oodles of choice, there's plenty to keep diners content.
The food itself is of a high quality. The kinds of sushi you'll find here include 'sashimi', 'maki', salads and tempura, as well as desserts. The food is freshly prepared and tastes great. If you're not keen on something, you can simply select something else from the conveyor belt. Beware though, given how delicious some of the dishes are, there will be a temptation to eat too much. I like it here, definitely worth a visit.
Right in the far corner of St David's shopping centre, if you didn't look hard enough, you wouldn't even knew it existed. (although the neon lights are a bit f a give away!)
Yo sushi, makes me happy. It makes me feel all Carried Bradshaw and cosmopolitan. It makes me want to sip, not gulp my drink and call everyone darling.
Now, i'm not a massive fan of sushi and to be honest i think i like the idea of this place more than i actually like the place. (the mind boggles)
Being a valley girl where Wetherspoons is upmarket can you imagine my delight when i actually got taken here! i was so excited i could have...well, i could have pee'd myself!
Right back to it; you get a button! Yes a button to call the waiter/waitress over, i actually miss that button at home, i keep meaning to get me a little bell!
Secondly, you get a personal water tap...the place just seems to get better and better.
Prices are incredibly good, although be warned your drinks will bump the bill up,Like everywhere though so you cant Knock Yo Sushi for that.
Also, its always really really busy, so if you do fancy putting your posh accent on, no one will really hear it! JACKPOT!
Great little sushi bar, even though it's part of a chain. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is no pressure to hurry up and you can just sit and take your time, chat, drink alittle, eat alittle. Great place for a date or to have a healthier alternative to normal restaurants.
The food was very tasty and it was a great experience. We tried out the Ramen, noodles and fries. All the dishes were very tasty.
I was stuck for lunch in work oneday and ended up getting some miso soup, Inarizushi which was delicious/fresh, & either fried chicken or shrimp & it was all delicious, hot and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend for a healthy treat In the office
Food is always so fresh and amazing! All the servers are so lovely and friendly too ☺️
I'm fond of this place. I do like to try different kinds of food and enjoyed eating here with my family. Japanese food is definitely one of my favourites. Love sushi and also loved the popcorn shrimp. Definitely would recommend you try this place if you haven't. Would come back.
Went on Monday 18th July - as it opened and before it got super busy. Food is prepared fresh for you and the quality has improved so much since the last time I visited. The staff were helpful and friendly and everything arrived in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend!
Quick and easy good tasting food. Perfect for a quick lunch on the go. Service was fast and good. Only issue was my soy sauce pot wasn't properly clean and my napkin had old say sauce on it meaning it wasn't cleaned before me being seated there.
Went here today for the first time. The place is lovely, very spacious, and airy, the food was super good, and we watched it get made right in front of us, the chefs were great and handed us the food directly. The star of the show however was our waiter, Trig. He was absolutely amazing, some of the best service we've ever had. He greeted us with a smile, showed us how to order food, constantly checked on us to see if we were enjoying. After we finished our food, he was so happy to chat to us and we ended up chatting for a good 5 min. We are 100% going again and hope Trig receives praise for how good of a job he did! :)

I love Yo Sushi with an undying passion. The food is always incredible and the staff are amazing too. I love the choice they have available and they'll freshly make any dish on the menu if you ask. It's not just sushi if you're not into that. It can get a little on the pricey side if you're like me and want everything but Blue Mondays have reduced price dishes and the same great quality food so definitely worth visiting then
I love sushi but it was a it hard work.
I've given 5 stars as the food and service was great but the covid measures have somewhat spoilt the experience in my opinion.
You can only book online, in advance. No just turning up.
Inside, food can only be ordered via the app, on your phone.
Then your food comes to you on the belt.
No more food just whizzing round on the belts and sort of grabbing what you fancy.
Alot of pressure on you if you order a few dishes at once. You get 10 seconds or so to get your food off the belt.
Food is fresh and superb.
Service was great.
Experience wasn't the best for me and my 2 children.
Do you like Doritos?
After a long day market visit in Cardiff, I was exhausted and hungry but it’s 8pm already. So I decided to buy a takeaway back to hotel for dinner. @yosushi recently launched YO! DORITOS® Onigiri Katsu Krunch which looks interesting so I gave it a try.
📍 St David's Shopping Centre, 5 Bridge St, Cardiff CF10 2EF
WHAT I GOT
🍙YO! DORITOS® Onigiri Katsu Krunch
🥟Vegetable & Chicken Gyoza
🍗 Japanese Fried Chicken
Onigiri is made with rice which formed into triangular shape. @yosushi wrapped the sushi rice with sauteed mushrooms and then coated with Doritos® Chilli Heatwave. It’s topped with spring onion & sushi ginger and served curry sauce. The onigiri was crispy and perfectly matched with the with the rich and thick curry sauce. The onigiri was too big and I couldn’t eat it with chopsticks so it’s a bit messy. If it can be made to a bite size rice ball, it’ll be perfect.
By the way, I would like to clarify that KATSU in Japanese means a crispy fried cutlet of meat or seafood made with flaky Japanese panko breadcrumbs. So I will call this dish as YO! DORITOS® Onigiri Krunch with curry sauce. ☺️
How’s the gyozas and fried chicken? I’ll have another post on Instagram @ccgyozalover for them🤗
