Have eaten here before and whilst not quite as good as previous visits in terms of the food taste, still of good quality. Staff as always very helpful and wanting to make the evening a pleasant experience

Me and my partner went to The Admiral at St David’s hotel for the Welsh afternoon tea and were very impressed. The selection of finger sandwiches and cakes was outstanding, especially the bara brith maracoon and sheep tart. The service was fantastic from our waitress who had a very good knowledge of each tea on offer which helped us go for something different than the usual earl grey or English breakfast. We cannot wait to go again and experience Admiral’s afternoon tea.

I love this place, this is the second year in a row we have stayed there and they remembered us from the first time. The food is excellent and breakfast has a fantastic choice of food and it never runs out. You are not rushed and everyone is happy to deal with your requests This is my first choice hotel when staying in Cardiff

We have had Sunday Lunch at the Admiral on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Service is always a friendly and professional and the food is well presented and delicious. It has become our go-to place with weekend guests.

10 of us met for afternoon tea on feb 1 and it was very special. I’ve done loads of afternoon teas in London so I guess my expectations were set at my previous experiences. But the quantity and quality of the patisserie was exceptional. The staff were attentive but not hovering and it was great value for money. I would definitely recommended!

Went mid week on a cold miserable day in feb. Had drinks in the bar before hand. Great service and good atmosphere. warm and welcoming. We had the Welsh afternoon tea. Who ever came up with concept brilliant. Cakes and tarts with a welsh theme of great quality . Ate everything . Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Great location overlooking the bay. Would recommend. have already booked for an early birthday present in April.

I love this hotel and the staff are very friendly and accommodating but I feel that some of the food is overpriced. I'm happy to pay more for extravagent dishes but some of the evening meals here don't seem to reflect the price in presentation and quality. I will always come back for the lovely rooms, views, breakfast and spa but I feel the evening menu either needs some more passion and variety or a lower price tag.

Went as part of a birthday present received by a family member for afternoon tea. The staff were extremely friendly, courteous and attentive; I cannot fault their professionalism and interpersonal skills. However, the food was simply average. As noted by previous reviews the bread for the sandwiches was stale and beginning to go a little hard. The Welsh rarebit was also going a little stale (had evidently been cooked earlier in the day and reheated for us). There was nothing necessarily wrong with the cakes and scones - they were perfectly tasty, but I didn't think they were anything special for £25 per person. Another side note that didn't sit well was that we'd asked to have the afternoon tea at 12pm and were told that the earliest we could book was for 2.30pm as that was when afternoon tea started. However, upon arrival - and we were a little early - there were at least 4 tables in various stages of enjoying an afternoon tea; some had finished and so must have been booked in at least at 1pm. If the restaurant didn't have availability for us then they should have just said, just told tell falsehoods. Over all - decent food, but I've had better or equal quality for less money elsewhere

The restaurant has great views over Cardiff Bay. We went for Sunday lunch and had three courses for £25 which isn't too pricey for such a nice place. The service was good and very friendly.

Had an amazing time here with my parents and boyfriend. Food was delicious, flavourful and piping hot - we all picked things we normally wouldn’t have, and we were not disappointed. There was also live music when we were eating which was a delight (I think it was the girls first day on the job- she was fab!!) Would definitely recommend and go again!

Visited here on Saturday with family for a drink on the terrace as we had relatives staying here. We managed to bag a sofa, table and some chairs on the terrace overlooking the water. Unfortunately the sofa didn't have any cushions on the bottom which made it quite uncomfortable but there was nowhere else to go. We had our drinks order taken and they took a good 20-25 minutes to appear. Extremely slow. When they did appear, a drink got spilled off the tray and all over my husband's and uncle's trousers and shoes. The waiter bumbled and said he would be back with another drink. No apology. The replacement drink then took another 15 minutes to arrive. I was quite surprised that they didn't apologise profusely or even give that drink free of charge for the fact of soaking two people. Disappointed in the lack of politeness and slowness of service.

I loved the ambiance, the menu and the quality of service. The food was great. It did take quite a lot of time to arrive after the order was placed, but it was worth it.
