The food was very tasty and affordable. We had an amazing waitress, named Pip. She was very friendly and checked in appropriately. This is definitely a good place to get a nice evening meal!

Wonderful location in the Cardiff suburbs. Llandaff is reminiscent of a small English village with its collection of pubs, tea rooms and village green. Admittedly it is also home to an interesting (Anglican) cathedral. We came across Llandaff by accident three years ago and said if we ever needed an overnight stay in Cardiff, then we'd try The Malsters Arms. We were allocated the amazing room no.4 complete with its large freestanding bath. Be aware, this is a popular pub and with a reasonably sized car park to the rear you may have to deal with some noise outside. The check-in process was simple and quick; and even though we showed up at 1pm our room was ready. A really friendly member of staff behind the bar helped us with bus times in to Cardiff city centre. The bus stop is across the road from the hotel, and then about 50 yards to your left; with the no.63 taking about twenty minutes. An Uber back from the Cardiff University cost us slightly under £10. There were plenty of people eating in the pub at close to 6pm when we went out. Bar prices were reasonable and although we didn't see any during our overnight stay, this is definitely a dog-friendly pub.

Absolutely fantastic. Finally a decent pub with decent food!!!! We hadn't booked but they managed to fit us in and we happily shared a table with another pair who also were looking to eat. The pub was really busy not a spare table or seat in the building. Nevertheless the service was fantastic - quick, attentive and friendly. The menu and food was lovely, came out fast and hot, with lovely presentation. The setting was clean throughout and ample space between the tables. The atmosphere was also fab. Can't wait to return

I very much enjoyed our trip to the Maltsters. It wasn't too loud for a Friday night, despite having plenty of customers. It is clean and well-lit without being too bright. The staff are quite friendly. Our server Harry, in particular, was very friendly and helpful and didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that I was taking my time to make a decision. His service was fantastic. We'd brought a game of scrabble to play while we waited to eat, and no one batted an eye. Our food was well-cooked - my son had a burger and I had the chicken. I didn't realise it was barbecue flavour sauce on the chicken, which I normally dislike. This was really good. My favourite thing was the tomato soup. I absolutely loved it, with the only complaint being that I ran out of it. In future, a bottomless bowl of that would suit me just fine. The sweet potato fries were exactly to my liking. The food was all brought in good time, and very well-presented. We will come back.

We had such a great dining experience at The Maltsters Arms. I don’t normally post reviews but felt I had to share what a fantastic place this is! Chris and the team made me feel so welcome and created such a warm and happy atmosphere that it was a joy to be there. The food was excellent and the cabaret entertainment was so good it felt like we were at a broadway show! Could not recommend this pub highly enough.

Perfect! Everything about my stay has been amazing. Esme who checked me in made me feel really welcome. The room was wonderful (Llandaff Cathedral); loads of room, plenty of places to put things, loads of plugs, lovely big bathroom and super comfy bed. The room had been left toasty and warm when I arrived and it was spotless. The parking is free for guests and the bar staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was great. I was staying for a girlfriends wedding and this was just right. Thank you!

Always a great welcome here. Food is excellent and the staff are brilliant. It was lovely that Christopher changed his day off, just to ensure that he can help us on a special occasion.

It was my first time to visit to your restaurant even though I have been staying in Cardiff for 11 years. My friend introduced me to have a tea break there. The ambience was cosy and comfort. Very nice staff and excellent food. I would definitely come again with more friend next time.

Dropped in for a lunch on Monday 19th. Enjoyed a lovely couple of pints of SA and a wonderful lunch. There was a slight issue with the temperature of lunch but the wonderful way they dealt with it was a joy! We will definitely be back soon to this great pub!!

We go to the maltsters regularly as a family because it is dog friendly, serves good food and has friendly staff. Also just been to our first quiz night tonight which was lots of fun and something a bit different on a Tuesday - Chris was a great and entertaining host, we will definitely be coming to the next one!

I've stayed at the hotel twice now when in Cardiff for the rugby. Rooms are very nice, the one on my 1st visit next to the laundry room less so as there was some noise, but nice to have good air con so I could keep the temperature at a what I like. Too many hotels are too stuffy. The breakfast here really is excellent, all cooked to order so no naff buffet breakfasts where the food has been out for ages. Excellent location near to bus stop into the city with frequent buses. Local restaurants are good as well.

What can I say was met by an amazing guy (sorry i forgot your name) im guessing he was the manager? who arranged a table at short notice. He is an absolute asset to the pub. Friendly funny and very attentive. The food was amazing, and nothing was too much trouble. we will definitely be back. The whole experience was a 10 thank you for making my Mothers Day extra special. Best wishes from the runover gang ( a little private joke )
