Our Twentieth wedding anniversary yesterday, honestly the staff were amazing, we were spoilt rotten. Food was out of this world... we’ve visited this pub in the past and it’s just been ok! Think there has been a change in the kitchen...food was beautiful, just gorgeous... staff made us feel so special... a special thankyou to the lady behind the bar ... will definitely recommend to all... 5 stars from us x
Have been coming to this place for years. Whether it be for a drink or a nice meal, I always enjoy a warm welcome, great food and cozy atmosphere.
It was the perfect place to come for our Christmas meal with friends, with a sumptuous festive menu and the open fire burning!
It's the best Sunday roast I've ever had.. I went for the slow cooked pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious.. the meat was simply just melting in my mouth, the crackling was crispy, the Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, and vegetables were as good as you could expect from a proper restaurant. No complaints at all from me. Hubby had fillet sea bass and king prawns, served with baby potatoes, peas, broccoli, and a creamy white wine sauce and he was content with everything. Definitely will be my go-to place for Sunday roast.
One thing that lives rent free in my head was the scene in one of the episodes in ‘Come Dine with Me’, where the host fully shoves the entire whisk in his mouth, sucking the chocolate out of it. Then used that said whisk to continue mixing the batter. I will never go for a meal in that contestant’s house but I will gladly stay for a meal in the Plymouth Arms. Their three meat roast is not quite to shout for (especially with what you are paying) but what they knocked out of the park is their all day menu, add that with their posh sauces, dedicated staff and you got yourself a banger of a meal and an experience that will live rent free in your head.
Lovely beer garden and a varied menu.
This place is hidden in the heart of St Fagans and is worth a visit, especially on a summer's day. The garden is lovely, with plenty of space, and the food and drink menu has something to offer for everyone .
We got away without booking a table, but I can imagine it gets busy on occasion. The restaurant inside looked lovely, too. A nice setting for an evening meal with friends and family.
Nice little pub/restaurant in historic surroundings on the outskirts of Cardiff, varied menu , huge beer garden, dog friendly too , first visit here and decided on the foresti're chicken breast, was baked in a small pan and covered in streaky bacon , wild mushrooms in a garlic sauce with skin on fries . For dessert we went for the bramley apple , blackcurrant and cherry crumble with creamy custard . If you like your history and a nice meal to follow up then this is the place for you 👍
The food was decent and not worth the price. The puddings were good though the crumble was burnt on top. It was busy when we went so it might explain a few things. The young lad who served us didn't seem to be trying and didn't look too happy. The table we sat at was in the corner in a small room it was nice and away from people. It was a good place to meet up with family.
The staff are very friendly, efficient and accommodating. The service was excellent, especially given there were seven of us. The pie I had was very good, though the accompanying vegetables were overcooked. The burgers were very good and everyone enjoyed the desserts. Good place for families to get together.
Had a delicious burger and chicken skewer. I had not booked but the staff were friendly and very helpful. Well worth a visit x
Good food but poor service. Ordered our second drink from the bar ourselves as wait was so long. Had to ask for cutlery and napkins as dessert brought out without any. Went to get menus ourselves as asked for them for desserts never arrived.

So this was our second visit - this time to enjoy a Sunday roast. She had the vegetarian option which was a candied roast consisting of rice, beetroot and seeds. I had the pork belly. Both dishes came with a generous medley of roasted and steamed vegetables. Despite the large plates of food I thought the serving of pork was undersized for the price. Having said that the service was faultless and the atmosphere very warm and agreeable. A charming place to have Sunday dinner.
Have been to the Plymouth Arms many times over the years. Unfortunately it has become a victim of the "let's update" brigade, and has lost it's charm. Now looks like every other pub, grey wood panels and pointless art.
Super busy day, very hot and sunny and sat outside. Queued for ages indoors waiting to be served. Food and drinks were ordered at the bar which was really busy but only 3 staff.
Drinks were way more expensive than on previous visits( probably to pay for the paint job). £19 for 2 large lipstick rimmed glasses of unexceptional white wine.
On the plus side, lots of seating, free parking, dogs and kids allowed.
Will go back and hopefully will have a better experience. Such a shame, loved it as it used to be.
