Review The George & Dragon - Chacombe

Lovely evening, nice aesthetics, plenty of parking, bustling but room for customers wanting food in the evening, the food was A+!! Lovely service, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. The tempura king prawn starter was delicious! The 'dragon burger' (a chicken burger with brioche bun and various accompanying fillings) was huge! Came with proper chips and a side (usually char grilled corn on the cob), we were able to change the side and make the burger to our own taste. Too full for pudding so can't comment on that, except to say there was a good selection. We also ordered chilled wine, which you can have in individual small bottles or a normal size bottle to share, depending on party size. The staff were happy to help us work out which was better for our pockets. Pets welcome and outside facilities for those wishing to eat outside. I noted a smoking area with shelter and heating also. I honestly can’t think of anything I didn't like. As I dont usually leave reviews, I thought I should, considering I'm a quite a picky madam. Nothing to complain about here and really enjoyable evening. Would recommend. Thank you.

The George & Dragon… Very very lovely pub/restaurant, staff were very pleasant and catering. I had ordered a Moretti, Pizza and some triple cooked chips, and it was exquisitely delicious! P.s. if you do have any fury friends (dogs) they also welcome them too with treats and water on tap!

Very nice pub for a meal out. Good service, table booked via Open Table, with nice seating and atmosphere. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, and seats outside (next to car park) if the weather is good. Quiet location in a small village. Good potential for walks nearby too. Would happily visit again.

Enjoyed a really good, convivial lunch at the George & Dragon: pub food executed very well. We both had excellent prawn cocktails with a slight kick to the sauce, and then two perfectly cooked steaks - one very rare, one medium - with crunchy onion rings and proper chips. The kitchen here knows how to cook. The pub itself is in a beautiful 17th century building with exposed beams and an old well built into the bar. Wood fires in the bar and dining room make for a lovely, cosy atmosphere. The staff are super-friendly and Dave, the landlord, recommended an excellent Italian red. Can’t recommend it enough. This is what country pubs should be like!

Still the same wonderful village pub as ever. Great well kept beer and an interesting menu always beautifully cooked. Together with the friendly staff and locals, what more is there to want?

My Wife and I stopped here on short notice for Lunch and they managed to get us a table. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was hot and very good.

Had a very good lunch at the George & Dragon - we all had the fresh baked pizzas and thought they were excellent. There is a nice beer garden out the back of the pub, with plenty of seating to sit and eat/drink. We paid £12 each for the pizzas - with each topping being £1 extra. A bowl of chips were £4 (which was really tasty), and a 330ml bottle of coke was £3.60 which I thought was OK value. Would happily return again.

Food was excellent but the service was a little slow. Won't stop be going back again though. Added bonus is that it is dog friendly and they welcome well behaved dogs with open arms. Well doggie treats by the front door.

Have been a couple of times now under the new owners and it's been amazing both times!!! Really friendly and welcoming staff and the food is absolutely unbelievable. Had the best chips I have ever had anywhere ever today! (Anyone that knows me knows I like my chips). Would reccomend 1 million per cent for a quiet dinner or a special occasion (we had a group of 23 and food and service was faultless!!).

My Mum is resident at the nursing home opposite the pub. We have been there a few times now and the food cannot be faulted, and the service is consistently excellent. Staff could not be more helpful.
