Review The Jolly Farmer - Chalfont St Peter

Mostly the same wonderful menu items as the Brasserie Blac restaurants, but in a more traditional pub ambiance. Fun atmosphere, and friendly, attentive staff. Great place for a drink, small plates, or a full meal.

Had read all the good reviews so visited for lunch midweek, and am now adding another good review! Lovely atmosphere, charming dining room beside the cosy bar area and delightful staff. What more could you want? Well good food of course! And we enjoyed that too. A burger with a side of fries was our selection, followed by desserts that were interestingly mostly rated a vegetarian, and some vegan. This was rounded out with good coffee and conversation so all in all a lovely place to drop in to.

Had a wonderful dinner here. The staff was really attentive and the food was amazing. The chalk stream trout was lovely and the whipped pistachio dessert with chocolate drizzle was out of this world. I would highly recommend.

Had a great Easter lunch here! Service was incredibly friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. We were with our three year old daughter and she especially loved the “make it yourself” pasta lunch on the Children’s menu and the drawing kit. We’ll definitely be back!

Went here for Father’s Day Sunday lunch. We were given a free pint. Ordered the roast beef which was lovely with a good range of veg. Service also quick and friendly.

Lovely country pub. You can say a lot about a Sunday roast by how well they make Yorkshire puddings. And the Jolly Farmer have amazing Yorkshire puddings. Great value for money size of the dish was proportionate to the price. Child’s portion was really impressive not shy in any way. Quality of the food was amazing. Everything was fresh and the meat was cooked perfectly. Very polite and attentive service so defiantly one we’ll be going back to.

Amazing find. For mains we had the lamb, the pork and one Sunday roast (beef). All were outstanding. For dessert we had chocolate delice and the treacle tart. Everyone loved their food and would choose the exact same dishes again. Highly recommend and definitely will be returning

Had lunch here on Monday and the place was surprisingly busy but that made for a lovely buzzing atmosphere. The food was delicious, with plenty of choice on either the special lunch menu or the a la carte. I'm vegetarian and had a lovely beetroot and goats cheese starter followed by the really tasty bean cassoulet. The service was friendly and helpful

Lovely little pub/restaurant. Can't hype up the staff enough every person we spoke to was so pleasant and helpful, especially our waitresses. Cucumber Gazpacho was delicious, never seen a cucumber version on a menu before and all the soufflés were perfectly cooked. Had a brilliant meal here and will definitely come back

My family and I all thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Jolly Farmer. We were all very impressed with the quality of the food and also the extensive choice of food as well! We were seated in the outdoor bar area which was very nice decorated with a good sized cover, lights and bunting. The waiters were all very friendly and attentive too. We'll definitely be back to visit again!

Went here for my sisters birthday dinner yesterday. First time we have been here and first impressions were good. Menu had good selection, wine was good and well priced and staff were accommodating and friendly. The waiting staff could not have done a better job, friendly attentive but not overly so but always someone near by if you needed anything. Wine was good, well priced and at a good temperate. Food was a bit and miss. There was 11 of us, gluten free requirement which is well catered for. Half of us enjoyed our food while the other half were left slightly disappointed. The crispy beef starter was had by 5 of the party however this was not well liked by any of the 5. It could simply be that it wasn't for us but the dressinh seemed like it had too much fish sauce or something overly powering in terms of salt and non of the group enjoyed the dish albeit it was well presented. The French onion soup was well received as as the mixed meat and picked veg sharing platter. Mains were more successful although one of the steaks ordered medium came out on the rare side of med rare, two other steak eaters said there's was nice in terms of tenderness but that the meat itself lacked flavour. Duck legs were nice as was the salmon and beef bourguigon were all good. Overall we had a descent meal however, I don't think we will be rushing back as a family to eat here, but as I said, the front of house was impressive and could not be faulted, it's just a shame the food was a bit hit and miss.

Stoped in while passing just wanted some quick food . Looked at the menu and thought bit pricey for what I thought was going to be cheap pub food .Wow incredible food never eaten a burger like it and iv eaten a lot of burgers .service was brilliant felt a bit under dressed in a hoodie and still felt like my custom was wanted will be returning and would go out of my way for it

Lively ambiance, friendly efficient service (great job Alys). As a family of seven we tried just about everything on the menu from starters through to puddings. Food with simple presentations, quality way above par. Too die for - cheddar cheese soufflé, Duck Confit, dessert was a tie between the chocolate and almond torte and classic deep baked lemon torte.

Last night's Christmas work meal was overall a delicious delight. The beetroot starter was rather lacklustre; sadly my original choice of duck egg did not happen. Lacked flavour and hard to eat. The trout main was superb. A perfectly sourced and cooked piece of fish, with the best sauce ever! Valrhona chocolate cup - wow, so yummy. Service was excellent and wine well found. Thank you. I will be there again. Merry Christmas

Booked a table for Hubbie's birthday... there are really no words to describe our evening... it was truly amazing!! From service to food, it was exceptional never have I eaten steak like it!! Can not fault one bit!! Thank you for a wonderful evening x

I thought it was nicely decorated and the ambience was nice enough. Food was ok, although I felt some portions were small (the roast didn't have enough meat & the ravioli had only 6)... service was ok too. Not enough puddings/ desserts to choose from ;) but what there was was lovely

What a nice place ! First visit this eve. Excellent environment, outstanding service, food tasted great, the meat serving with the roasts was 'sparing' (which was a shame !!!) deserts massive thumbs up !

First visit as many years ago it had a bad reputation, not any longer, really enjoyed my evening and will be back ASAP, highly recommended by the locals for food. PS. Nice staff

Me and Ben took a group of Chiropractic colleagues to the Jolly Farmer for dinner after a meeting. The service couldn't be faulted and the food was superb, we all had such a good evening we've booked a table for our next get together in May! Can't wait to return :)

Have been twice in a week and loved it both times. Set menu is excellent value, Sunday roasts are huge and come with lovely Yorkshires. The food is excellent, staff helpful and friendly and they have a great cocktail and gin menu. I would vastly prefer to eat here than the Brasserie Blanc for its atmosphere and value.

We took my elderly and frail dad here for lunch today. Want to say a huge thank you to all the staff for their kindness and understanding. We changed our booking an hour before to add more family members who then couldn't make it. Everybody was lovely. The ambience, food, staff and service was all wonderful. Thank you - we'll be back!

If Carlesberg did pubs! Probably the best pub I have ever been too. Beautiful setting, stunning interior. Can't wait to go back.
