Review King's Arms - Charlton Horethorne

My parents and I visited as they have just moved to Wincanton and had admired the pub during their visits before moving here. It was an impromptu visit on a stunning day after we had been pumpkin picking. They were very busy and we had not booked. They managed to squeeze us in and we are SO grateful. I had soup and a warm chocolate desert and my parents both had the roast beef which is the best cut of meat we’d all seen served in a restaurant. The food came in record time. The desert was exquisite!! We had a wonderful experience from start to finish from the gent behind the bar and our server; a fabulous Italian gent. Sorry to not have names!! Anyway I had to leave a review because it was a first class experience. Thank you team!!

Love this place. Food is always good. Chicken Caesar is delicious. You can order the lunch size which is a generous portion or you can order the dinner size which is quite big. Service is great. Friendly staff. Dog friendly which I love. A really pretty building and great decorations. Love the cow pictures! Also the restrooms are so clean. A nice touch with the clothes to dry your hands. Would definitely recommend.

It is run by a family. Very nice place very friendly people. Rooms are big there are only 10 rooms. There is a lot of space inside and outside of the building. We hade dinner and breakfast. The food was nice Overall a good experience. In the summer, they have air condition option, and that is very important.

Delicious food at the Kings Arms. We had the wild garlic & goat cheese risotto and the portobella mushrooms pizza, it was lovely. The staff is really nice. The courtyard is big with a beautiful view. I highly recommend a stop in this pub if you’re around.

Love the ambience and the staff are very friendly. The food was fantastic. I worked here many years ago and I remember the head chef (and owner) Sarah was always passionate about her food and the ingredients were locally sourced. I’m glad that the passion has not been lost, as I said the food was superb. I would highly recommend this pub (and do). Great wine list! Whenever I eat here I always walk out with a little dopamine rush which leaves me feeling very happy for a day or two. I think I need to return to get my Kings Arms fix!

A delightful local pub with rooms. Service good ... pizzas are the size of blue whales and very tasty indeed. Clean and cute. Nothing else really in C.H. but the village is a delight to look at ... historic...

We were passing through, starving hungry so stopped for pub grub. But this was far superior to any pub food, it was amazing! The Lebanese salad was full of flavour, beautifully presented and a very generous portion. And the stone baked pizza was so rich in flavour and perfectly cooked! Delicious. Wish you were our local

Did not stay but had a fine meal. The food was excellent but slightly expensive. Wonderful ambience and a friendly host.

Lovely hotel and great service Food was great................the flat iron steak was fantastic! Rooms where nicely decorated, furnished well and comfortable my only comments would be you can hear the toilets and showers in the other rooms, the rooms are very warm and if you leave the window open the passing traffic at speed is noisy. Granted a large air con unit was available in the room but this had to be vented through the window. The rooms lacked in quality and attention to detail for a five star rating and the price was high.

We had a nice meal here but unfortunately it didn’t blow us away, for the price we expected more. My steak was undercooked (very rare) and very fatty and chewy. The service was almost a little too good as we were asked for drinks before we sat down and had a chance to look at the menu.

Fantastic evening meal. Excellently cooked food, with a few different elements that made particularly interesting! Particularly pleased with the host who was careful to ensure that we were comfortable, well looked after and enjoying our experience. We sat in the outside area which was lovely in the summer evening, with heaters for warmth as needed.
