The Bowling Green is one of my favourite places to visit for a meal. The staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming and keep the entire operation ticking over very smoothly. The food is absolutely top notch. I did notice that the gentleman who was in charge of carving the ham, turkey and beef had his technique down to a fine art. If his instruction from the Management was to ensure that the meat was served in as thin a portion as possible, then he's certainly mastered his craft. I do realise pubs have to stay on the right side of profit, but customers may probably appreciate a little extra for their buck. On the whole though, very good.

Group Party for a family event. They sectioned the far end of the food areas for us, 6 children, & 1 baby. 18 adults. All able to choose & pay for food at their leisure. Kids ages 3-8 & were quite well behaved compared to others in the building I.e. accidentally dropped food & drink rather than thrown. Anything on the floor was moved for the baby crawling. Play area was well used & supervised by parents of our children. No rush to leave as we were left to our own devices. Food choice & taste good considering they're catering for a lot of people. New staff noted on the Bar, but more staff appear to be needed as there were very long queues at one point. Having to pay extra for Pigs in Blankets was disappointing & not many seem to have been sold?

First visit here for lunch with a friend and it was quiet and the staff were lovely and friendly. The food was nice. My friend had the chicken and bacon salad and I had the veg and goats cheese flatbread with chicken. Lovely food, only one small point was the flatbread was really crispy so couldn't cut it or wrap it but everything else was nice. No idea if dogs are allowed but if they are we will definitely be visiting again. Update: My third visit today and lovely flatbread that was soft and tasty. Staff lovely again and just missed out on the 5th star for me as it's not dog friendly unfortunately. Everything else is great.

Great place for kids. Could use a bit more proactivity to prevent adults from running around the tables when little ones are around. Food is great, staff friendly

It was very quiet on Wed eve at half term. We thought would be busier but there were more people sat in the conservatory area which looks out on to the back garden with table benches and a little playground. The staff were all really lovely, friendly and helpful & service was quick. The table waitress was attentive & the bar staff really chatty & friendly. The food can be a bit more expensive than a spoons for example but it is really good & plenty of it. I had the jackfruit wings they were great & tried some cheese pie & a bit of chilli- all really tasty. Had a strongbow which is £5.20 per pint I think & sat outside later with a tub of icecream got 3 scoops & the banana split one was 🙌 wow. There seating outside to the front then round the side more family orientated near the enclosed playground with a little climbing frame etc for children. It was very clean, nice atmosphere & the music was entertaining cos it would alternate between a song from around the 50s, or even late 40s that I knew from my grandma/parents singing it to modern day songs which completely messed with my head but in a good way lol. Really enjoyed it & the kids go often & I'll definitely be going back.

I went here with my friend for a nice meal. We both enjoyed the food a lot and the staff were very friendly and chatty. We were very impressed with the children play area and will definitely come again with our families.

First time going here impression from the outside was good. Simple system when you go in, find yourself a table and then go to the bar to order food. There was seperate seating areas for adults who wanted a quiet meal and for families. Went to the bar to order food this was at about 5.30pm so pub was getting fairly busy so service at the bar took a while. Ordered 2 carverys and procceded to the kitchen area to collect. Chef cut off the meat for us and then handed plates to take as much veg and roast potatoes and stuff that we wanted. Best cauliflower cheese ever i usually hate the stuff but gave it a go here and was so good. Carpark outside was also quite big and also had additional parking around the side of the building. All in all good experience and would be more than happy to go again.
