Lovely local boozer with wild west decor! Always a pleasure visiting the black dog. Affordable drinks, nice staff and decent atmosphere. Had a banging steak the last time I went and beat the landlord's son at pool. Happy days!
Great pub located at the bottom of the gorge. Nice selection of local cider and a vast range of gin and tonics. Good food and Sunday/Wednesday roasts. Pool, dart and other pub games available.
Arrived in the Gorge as a day visitor. Decided to get a meal and drink for all 5 of us. Was greeted by a friendly bar staff lady, who took our order of food and drinks very efficiently. The locals engaged in a warm greeting with us until our food arrived in a very quick timely order. The food was one of (if not) the best meals we have ever had out as a family (including the older children). Everyone enjoyed their meals! I rarely write reviews but felt complied too based on today's fabulous food and great service provided. Highly recommended.
Visited with my young family and the dog. Staff were efficient and very polite, food was absolutely lovely, especially my daughters cheesy pasta, spot on! Very welcoming and accommodating especially as we had the dog with us and he was welcomed and offered a drink.
The Black Dog is one of the West Countries true gems. Located at the bottom of the infamous and picturesque Cheddar Gorge. On entering I was greeted not only by friendly bar staff, but an array of charming locals all talking about cobbles, beers and rewinding motors of all things. The food was to die for and was extremely good value. I thought I'd died and gone to Saloon Bar heaven. Would highly recommend.
WVisnited Cheddar for the day. Went into this bar for a drunk. Very friendly Service and good prices. The food menu looked great but we didn't eat on this occasion. Nice music and videos playing very relaxed atmosphere . Love the saloon and cowboy themed decor throughout.
The roast dinners and vegetarian/ gluten free meals were outstanding. Went there for mothers day. Booked for fathers day! Toilet very clean.
Such a great atmosphere! Friendly staff, wide choice of drinks and a lot of fun playing pool! Will definitely go back once in Cheddar !
