Went there for the first time. Nice quaint Cottage. Consummate front of house. Very welcoming . Starters were good but a bit lacking ...the salt beet and prawns. My wife had the fish which was very good. I had the pork which was also very good. The black pudding and chorizo, I thought was too strong a combination but nevertheless it was tasty. A bit pricey . But we had a good time. Thank you.

Had a great experience here today. It was our first ever visit. We had the halibut and the linguine, and both were outstanding 👌. The place had a great feel and decor. We were even checking the diary as to when we could come back. It was that good! Our new fav place

What a wonderful place! Loved the decor, the vibe and the amazing food! The owners were delightful and looked after us so well. Look out for Steak Saturday and the reasonably priced set menu. We had such a lovely time and can’t wait to come back again!

Lovely food and decor, the service is so so, if you ask for bread, you have to ask 3 times. The ‘artisan’ crackers were missing from the cheese board to start and when they turned up, they’re clearly not artisan. Servers don’t realise they need to get rid of empty bottles from the table

Oh wow what an experience. We decided to have lunch here on a recommendation from a friend and booked a table for 1pm on a Saturday, unfortunately we were caught up in an accident tailback on the A12, we let the restaurant no and they were marvellous and kept our table for us. The restaurant is lovely and charming with a very pleasant atmosphere. We were greeted and seated and our drink order was taken by a wonderful polite waiter. The menu was presented and what a wonderful selection there is. The food is absolutely amazing, beautifully presented, well seasoned and well thought out with the combination of flavours, it was superbly delicious.I must say the service is fabulous too. Would I eat here again “oh yes” I will definitely go back again. I will recommend this beautiful place to everyone, Justin is an amazing host and runs a wonderful restaurant. Congratulations to you and your wonderful team for making this a great dining experience

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here recently on a Sunday afternoon with our two children aged 12 and 7. It was a really lovely experience in terms of the decor, the service and the beautiful, delicious food and drinks. I highly recommend this for a special occasion. It's not just a country pub/restaurant. We were made to feel special. We understood before our arrival that the Pig & Whistle experience is not aimed at children. We took them along anyway so they could practise their manners. We requested a smaller portion for our young daughter which was supplied. We were even allowed to take home her leftovers for our dog at home. Thank you to all the staff for a warm welcome. We will be back.

I had a wonderful trio of pork and it was so posh! The setting was ornate with lit candles around the room and on the table. You’re surrounded by exquisite antiques everywhere you look. The owners serve you themselves and make sure you’re having a lovely time. The bartenders were absolutely wonderful and I could not recommend a better place. If you want the true elegant dining experience, this is the place to go. It overlooks wonderful fields and a perfect place to dine and watch the sunset.

After our previous wonderful experiences, I knew it was the right decision to book in for a date night with my partner leading up to valentines. The owners recognised us from our previous visits and were greeted at the door some warmly and welcoming. We were lead to a table of two surrounded by beautiful and unique decor and even though the venue was popular, it still felt intimate and relaxing. The wine menu was full of choice and well thought out, with a great choice of local produce included. After some great recommendations from our server, we opted for a gorgeous bottle of rosé which was soft, subtle and complimented the meal throughout. My starter was the Bresaola, which was gorgeously presented and tasted phenomenal- the flavours of the plate really complimented each other and exuded luxury. We both opted for steak for main (after trying to decide between that and the lamb shank shepherds pie!) - WOW! After curing my excitement at the sight of the most beautiful steak, I eagerly tucked in and was met with one of the best steaks I have genuinely eaten in my life. The steak was perfectly cooked and genuinely melted like butter in my mouth. The Smoked mash, leeks, bacon & chestnut mushrooms & red wine jus was a beautiful side-piece to the dish and was so moreish - it was pure bliss. The truffle Parmesan frites are also an absolute MUST - just SOOOO good!! We could see that every table of guests around us were being treated first class - nothing was too much for the staff and they conversed with everyone like we were friends/family, which is just such a rare and pleasant experience that you can only find at gems such as this. Once again, thank you for making us feel like VIPs on nights that mean so much to us. We will definitely be returning again, in fact - we booked another table while we were there to return for their 8 course Irish Tasting menu! (Complete with drink pairings, of course!)

We had a really lovely Sunday roast at this cosy and quirky restaurant. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. I find nowadays at some restaurants I'm disappointed with the staff's attitude towards customers. This was not the case at the Pig & Whistle. Although very busy they were keen to provide us with a pleasant experience. I had the roast beef which was cooked perfectly and husband had the chicken which he said was lovely. Yorkshire puddings, roast pots, veg and gravy also perfect. They do not allow small children or dogs (I have a baby grandson and a dog!) which I didn't mind at all, it made for a nice calm lunch 🙏 Have recommended to friends.
