🍰 Lots of cake & sandwich choices; ☕️ Good chai latte but disappointing cappuccino; 👩💻 Spacious for studying & no laptop policy although the wifi is nearly non-usable in my corner seat; 💁♀️ Friendly & accommodating staff (even asked me to smell the powder when I asked if the chai latte is sweet or spicy!).

I really like Waterstones as a book shop.
The one in Chelmsford is particularly nice. Has a great selection of books of different genres. Their fantasy and science fi selection is huge compared to other book shops in the area.
They also have a good selection of games.
I always find the staff really friendly and helpful if you ever have any queries and I’ve even had some good recommendations from them on what book to try next.

Went in for a book for my 1 year old niece. Had fantastic help as I wanted a flappy book (lift up flaps) for her. Had a very nice chat with girl on the till ( green jumper and glasses.) Made my day. Service was excellent wondered if green jumper and glasses would like a coffee?

I love this location - really well stocked and has such a cosy vibe. The cafe is also great with good coffee at great prices and lovely staff. I like to just go there to feel more positive and happy!

They have a large enough cafe with a few ordinary vegan options and it will be nice to see vegan food there instead of dead bodies which are cruel reminders of awful violence. The books seem good, tarot cards too few in variety and a bit more expensive than online, could do with a bigger collection.

Overall good shopping experience, sections are clearly labelled (e.g. kids sections broken down by age…). The shop felt a bit cramped but that wa side to the festive season and probably fine during the rest of the year.

Love a good bookshop. Has a coffee shop upstairs too. And a lift for disabled access to first floor.

A beautifully well stocked bookshop and very busy this time of year. Plenty of clearly defined sections and helpful staff if the need arose. I certainly found what I was looking for and I do hope books continue to be the recorders of history, that we could so easily lose when the next level of computerisation takes hold. One aspect that lost a star unfortunately was the lack of signage regarding how you queued to pay. This was a bit haphazard and not totally clear, which meant on my visit, a wheelchair user got slightly stuck and highlighted as she struggled to negotiate an about turn having missed the floor arrows due to her restricted sight lines. This resulted in the destruction of very tightly positioned point of sale display. I could have easily given less stars, but I felt the public who came to her rescue did an admirable job in picking up the debris and guiding her plus the staff for apologising. A group festive recovery during difficult times.
